Game does not launch

When clicking "play" on the launcher, I get one of two error messages:

VanillaFixes: Failed to create remote thread.
VanillaFixes: Failed to clean up process memory (pDllPath)

I have tried:

- Reinstalling
- Removing all addons
- Running the launcher as an Administrator
- Running VanillaFixes.exe without going through the launcher
- Disabling all mods, except VanillaFixes (game silently fails to launch without an error message - enabling VanillaHelpers causes the error message to appear again)
- Disabling all mods, including VanillaFixes (game silently fails to launch without an error message)
- Running WoW.exe without going through the launcher (game silently fails to launch without an error message)

OS: Windows 10
Launcher version: 1.3.8
Game version: 1.18.1 (7272)

I am also using Windows 10 and I have a similar issue whereupon pressing "Play" from the launcher, the game quietly fails without an error message. I get the same quiet failure from opening WoW.exe directly.

Hi,

I have a problem with the current OctoWoW client. The game does not launch at all and there is no error message.

My setup:
- Windows 11
- Game version: 1.18.1 (7272)
- Launcher: current version downloaded from the official website

What I tried:

- Downloaded the official wow-client.zip directly from the OctoWoW website (approx. 8.8 GB).
- Extracted it to a local folder.
- WoW.exe does nothing when launched directly.
- I also tried launching WoW.exe from CMD – it immediately returns to the command prompt without any message.
- ERRORLEVEL after launching WoW.exe is 0.
- I tried WoW.exe -opengl, with exactly the same result.
- WoW.exe does not even appear in Task Manager.
- I completely deleted the client and downloaded it again through the official OctoLauncher. The result is exactly the same: clicking Play makes the launcher disappear/reappear, but WoW never starts.
- Windows Defender has no detection for WoW.exe in Protection History.


The same problem occurs with both a fresh ZIP installation and a fresh installation downloaded through the launcher.

Could anyone confirm whether this is a known issue with the current client on Windows 11, or suggest what I should check next?

I have a problem with the current OctoWoW client. The game does not launch at all and there is no error message.

I've also tried with the .zip client download, and it's exactly the same for me on Windows 10.
