Update Your Realmlist.wtf

Updated the realmlist yesterday and it worked - today I cannot connect anymore.

edit: ok apparently it got reverted back for some reason. Maybe this also happened for other folk here.
edit2: ok the launcher seems to be reverting it every time (it worked yesterday though) and even starting the .exe directly with the correct realmlist does not work - please help!

When I tried to update the launcher I got a wall of text when opening the launcher and no option to update.

I then redownloaded the launcher and ran that, which gave a small update then when I clicked play it worked and I got in game. I can also join via the wow.exe and via the vanillafixes one.

Still can't connect after trying everything — Round 5

Hey team,

Still completely unable to connect during this round, even after trying pretty much everything suggested in this thread and others:

Updated realmlist.wtf to play.octowow.st (no quotes, correct syntax)
Flushed DNS (ipconfig /flushdns)
Switched DNS servers to Cloudflare (1.1.1.1 / 1.0.0.1)
Rebooted my router
Tried ProtonVPN on multiple locations (Netherlands, Singapore, USA, Mexico, Japan) — none of them worked

Nothing gets me past the connection screen. Just wanted to flag that it's not just a DNS/geo-filtering issue for everyone — some of us are still fully locked out no matter what we try on our end. Hoping this helps narrow down what's still slipping through the filters.

Location: France (if that helps with diagnosing routing/regional issues)

We need everyone to update their realmlist.wtf file to contain the following.

set realmlist "play.octowow.st"


If you use the launcher and have the latest 1.3.8 version this should be done for you automatically. If you are using the old realmlist you will no longer be able to connect.

This is not a permanent solution and is unlikely to fully defend against the DDoS attacks, but should help while we continue to wait on new hardware.

As a heads up: Still able to connect via 185.165.170.6 as of this posting date/timestamp.

I was not able to get on all day, I seen someone mention their realmlist got changed back and out of curiosity I checked and low and behold mine had too somehow changed it back back and was able to get on.

Until today, I was playing on the realmlist 185.165.170.6 from Ukraine.
When I try to connect via "play.octowow.st," I immediately get a "Disconnect from server" without any attempt to connect.
The new realmlist only works with a VPN.

Also, the website, forum, and launcher don't work in Ukraine

if it got reverted you need to take a second and read. the launcher needs to be redownloaded. the old one is basically bricked due to their attempts at shoring against DDOS. Its also probably why the radio is broken atm
