XP-Locked Twinks Ruin the PvP Leveling Experience

I think XP locking is a serious problem when it comes to battlegrounds, especially for players who are actually leveling their characters through PvP.

Battlegrounds are supposed to be a fun way to level while fighting other players. You queue up, play some games, gain experience, improve your character, and eventually move on to the next level bracket. That's a perfectly valid and enjoyable way to progress.

The problem starts when you have players who deliberately lock their XP and build extremely optimized characters specifically to stay in a lower-level bracket.

For the normal player, this creates an incredibly frustrating experience.

Imagine you're leveling your character through battlegrounds. Your gear is whatever you've managed to obtain while questing, doing dungeons, and playing PvP. You're not spending hours farming the perfect items because you're actually trying to level.

Then you enter a battleground and run into a group of XP-locked characters with significantly better gear, optimized stats, enchants, and professions. You can play your class correctly and still get completely destroyed simply because the other player has built their character specifically to dominate that bracket.

And that's where XP locking becomes a problem for everyone else.

The normal player is punished for progressing.

The person who continues gaining experience eventually leaves the bracket, while the XP-locked player stays there indefinitely, continuing to farm the same pool of leveling players. The more you progress naturally, the more disadvantaged you become compared to someone who has intentionally stopped their progression.

This is especially frustrating because you can already gain experience by playing battlegrounds. That's what makes XP locking unnecessary from a PvP perspective. If someone wants to become stronger through PvP, they should be able to do exactly that by playing PvP and progressing naturally.

Instead, XP locking creates a situation where the optimal strategy is basically:

Stop leveling, perfect your gear, and stay in the bracket as long as possible.

That might be entertaining for the person doing it, but it can completely destroy the experience for the people on the other side.

Battlegrounds should be a place where players can level, learn their class, fight other players, and have fun. They shouldn't be forced to make an XP-locked twink just to have a reasonable chance of competing.

I'm not saying players shouldn't be allowed to enjoy optimizing their characters. I'm saying that the system shouldn't allow that playstyle to come at the expense of everyone who is simply trying to level through battlegrounds.

If you want to PvP, play PvP and earn your progression through it. Don't freeze your character at one level and repeatedly farm players whose only "mistake" was continuing to gain experience.

In my opinion, XP locking doesn't just create stronger twinks — it actively destroys the PvP leveling experience for everyone who isn't one.

Yep, it's been an entire week i'm fighting those 29, and now 39 backpedaling hunters (Hey Davana !)

This thread sounds like getting out of my mind. Getting farmed by those as a craftman challenger is extremely frustating.
Thanksfuly i finalee replaced my level 4 Linen Cloth Belt :D

Also nampower is killing the good old Vanilla Warsong Gulch btw

I need to do a thread about it i guess, but making nameplates visible from 200y without occlusion makes you unable to hide with flag which is a big part of wsg... if nameplate distance could be set back to 20y as it is on Vanilla just in wsg, it'd make a lot of sense !

But for sure, i don't see the point of XP locking but ego farming undergeared/leveled players...... and if there is one, make XP locked characters not able to join battlegrounds

It’s a double edged sword.
Twinks have always been a part of wow and there is a community for it.
However I think especially during the first phases of a server (I‘d say roughly until BWL release), where most players are leveling their mains, there is no reason to twink out a character other than gaining an unfair advantage and it creates a vastly inferior game experience for 99% of the playerbase, so the locking xp feature should be disabled until then.

''Getting farmed by those as a craftman challenger''

Players with Vagrant's Endeavor/Artisan's Quest should not be able to que for PvP at all imo, or have XP gains disabled.
You are using battlegrounds to get boosted, circumventing self imposed challenges in adition to griefing your team.

what you are saying makes since but the game as a whole is better the way it is now.... do you think there is a way it implement it in just wsg?

U are griefing your team by your lack of skill, then need to find an other reason for it

I edited my post, i meant if possible limit it at 20y in wsg. I don't know if it's possible but maybe it's this simple
