I dont know if you are new to Octo/TurtleWoW but pre-patch Tel Abim was like the easiest way to get these things and still kinda is. Literally no problem to get 100-300 stonescale eels / day and make some money if you enjoy fishing. Your argument makes no sense m8

Idk i think the fish part could be explained sure, but it doesn't explain how he was blatantly allowed to use automation on AH bots, WHILE he was manually fishing. If thats what he claims he was doing.

I think its p wild the GMs would allow something like this to ruin the economy for everyone else

Huge L if this is allowed on here honestly

In my opinion, while I do think it tarnishes the spirit of the economy, if he made it public and it has the exact same functionality, everyone can use it and he doesn't have a monopoly. If.

At that point, it's server side discretion. Up to the owners to deliberate on what is and isn't allowed. It's a competitive craft, if one person using it is an issue, more using it will be more of an issue, and will bring it to the forefront. If it's truly a problem, use it to bring attention to it.

Yeah bro. "Everyone can use it. Just find the random github site with this exact program and let a bot play a game for them as well, it's fair!"
Those stonescale eels were an exploit 100%, since the new zones didn't have a restriction. Easy to go fish there with a level 1, which can be botted "Fishing guy".
Let's be honest here: You are just greedy and a sloth at the same time. Why would you make the game harder for everyone else by even using a bot? And I'm calling your script a bot, because you're not actively playing, but the character still does things for you.
If this isn't banworthy, fishing bots shouldn't be banworthy either. They do even less than this guy did. Also you're pretty inconsistent with what GMs told you. You should 100% be banned for crashing the AH and making it unusable for players.
Another thing: It is pretty convenient to have your alt called after someone pretty liked in the community. Even if it isn't the effect you want, it still tarnishes their reputation by people that don't know. And I bet you know that. Why not just call it "Jochensmth" instead? You don't even want to be part of your own system, man. That just shows how wrong it is.

Hello folks, this is gonna be the last post from me here.
I would just like to recap and adress a few things.

Yes I wrote the addon and was unsure if I am allowed to use it. Or the specific timer feature.
That is why I was making a GM ticket and asked for approval.
I got the approval so i used it for about 2 to 3 weeks.
Then I saw this thread and the controversy and after a few days, yesterday, i wrote another GM ticket to clarify once and for all if I can use this timer feature or not.
Yesterday they replied with "Your addon is fine, but dont use the timer". Thats fine for me and in the moment i got the GM reply i stopped using the timer and wont do so again.
If you dont trust my words, which is understandable, feel free to write a GM ticket and ask them if i contacted them and got the allowance etc. I have absolutely no problem with that because I have always been transparent.

The fishing thing: I havent fished for almost a month now, but I love fishing and even did so on TurtleWow. Thats why I was fishing for hours daily for a long time. As i stated earlier I always was the fishing guy in my guilds. My old guild Amnesia also knows this, and i have absolutely no beef with any of them or Chillvan. Feel free to ask around and whisper any if them if you dont trust my words. Thats okey.

If you have any more questions feel free to whisper me ingame or write a mail. Or if anything still in doubt, again, please feel free to contact and ask the GM's because they have logs and are the authority of what happened. Not speculations in a forum.

I whish you all the best, Jochen

BTW, here is link to his addon:

https://github.com/bogenjochen/JochensAlchemyProfits

It's worth mentioning that the first author of this addon is ChatGPT.

I know you said that was going to be your last reply on this topic, however, I still have one question for transparency others haven't asked yet:
  • How much gold you make in one day thanks to your addon?
Also, current rules apparently allow such addons to exist so you can't be banned. However, if this kind of addon is super profitable, the rules should be changed in my opinion. It's not good game design when you must install addons to compete, at least original WoW was to be casual friendly. How can new player with no programming knowledge compete against you then?

As a last note, most of you guys forget what is primary cause of this issue. In original WoW there were no spots with both Mail and AH at hand. This issue exists because of P2W - that is remote auctioneer/mail. This wasn't possible in old WoW without moving between places. This guy is just super smart and lifted minmaxing to the next level.
The devil is in the detail.

"The devil is in the detail." it really is.

I don't think using a timer to automate behaviour is fair, and the GMs should publicly declare that it's not okay for anyone to play this way. Yet, after half an hour you would auto-logout, so someone has to have the game open on a second monitor anyway and click a button. Not too different from the insane whales controlling the AH prices with 100k gold to dump on everyone trying to compete. Tho you can play that way if you enjoy the economy side of WoW. The real culprits are the P2W turtle donation features in this case imo, players will minmax the shit out of any MMO
