Just reading over your post over the past few days and you just seems very entitled.
No amount of you being negative on the forum will accelerate the situation.
Im sorry you dont get to play, sincerely. But coming out on the forum thinking it's as simple as finding another host just really shows how unaware you are of how those things works.

And somehow I have managed to play between the spikes of downtime. Perhaps it's your expectations that need adjustment?

No updates??

There was a lot of talk over the weekend about how networking gear/settings were going to change on Monday (yesterday). You're server host stopped talking to you or something? Aren't you concerned there aren't any updates from them? :?:
This is not information they should share with us.
There's many things at play here and it's not our business to get between them and the host.
They did say there was no update as of yesterday. You have to understand, their host is most likely also waiting on updates from other parties involved in deliveries and setup.

They have been really open with us so far. But asking them to share any information about their relation with third parties is a reach.
They have been sharing this exact kind of information for the past week, so what are you talking about? If their host is waiting on other parties, then why not say so? That's the exact kind of update we've been getting and were expecting sometime yesterday.

From Kestrel:
"Because we have unique traffic patterns (game traffic is different than most web traffic, especially our game traffic) and are unable to compromise on our anonymity, our options for 3rd party solutions are extremely limited. We still have no timeline from FlokiNet on the delivery date of our new server hardware, but the order was placed on August 16th (before the DDoS attacks began) so we expect it to be online SOONtm. We have requested a more specific timeline from them but have not heard back and understand they themselves are dependent on external vendors who may not be providing timelines. "
"We are unable to see any throughput from the attack that did not make it through and our server previously (no longer) had a 1Gbit uplink and so we were unable to see any throughput greater than 1Gbit, but they were fully saturating that. Flokinet has also been unable to provide us more details on how they were scrubbing traffic during those times, so these numbers are also likely skewed from just what made it through Flokinet's basic/standard DDoS protection."
"No big updates today, buckle up for the weekend. Hope to have access to the new servers Monday (if they are able to set them up without the port upgrade)."

Nah, don´t be unfair now. He is not wrong - it is unplayable for people who don´t have the freedom to choose freely when and how long they play. Some people live in timezones that are hit harder by this.

Stay civil everybody. It is - for some - unplayable ... others just scrape by. It is what it is. We deal with it or we don´t. But do not start fights among each other over nothing. Over opinions - to which everybody is entitled.

You are asking for information about the 'relation' with their provider.

What you just quoted are updates.
Thats what im talking about.
Plus they dont have to share anything, they are just decent. When information you should be aware of comes to them. they will share.

Stop pretending like you are owed an update on every single move they make. This is exactly what I'm talking about. Plus, you don't need to get mad at people around here because you don't get to play. we're all in the same boat.

All you need to know is basically they are constantly working towards improving the situation. everything else is just them being opened about the situation.

Assuming that DDOS attack is very cheap to perform, there is one illogical conclusion:
why do the first attacks occured in time when there were most of players online, that is EU evening?

If we assume that some big companies are behind these attacks (Raven or Blizzard, let's not argue who), why were they targeting Octo only at specific time of the day? What stops them from stunning Octo 24/7 straight for one week instead of spreading this out over a longer period of time? I can't believe they don't have enough money if these attacks are so cheap. It doesn't make sense to me.

However, if these companies aren't guilty and one guy is behind this DDOS, that would mean that one psychopath with small amount of money could lock entire private server. Then why didn't this happen to other private servers in the past especially knowing that there were many dramas around them?
The devil is in the detail.
