Rae, do you know if the letter Sofia received was without a shadow of a doubt Blizzard? No chance of an imposter?

On the bright side, if you do end up wanting to rebuild it, this purge may help with user quality.

On the not so bright side, damn, that was a lot of info on addons and stuff to lose.

but that's not entirely true since the whole shtick of octowow is that they if taken down with the 8 'knowledge keepers' to restore it back, hence why i play here in the frist place.

Heya, thank you for sharing this information an advise is to not give out too much information out or updates, instead post acknowledgements to the masses and that's about it.

Definitely would love to continue playing on this server.

I understand FlokiNET is amazing and all that jazz but never put too much trust on anyone or one day you'll get betrayed..keep it professional and always have a backup plan when FlokiNET goes out the window...goggle reviews are mostly negative about them.

Anyway Appreciate everything you guys are doing honestly even thru these hard times.

Id like to thank Sofia, Rae and the other mods for a fun and sometimes difficult journey we had.
I would also thank for the loving and understanding people of the Octo fan community discord who enjoyed and suffered as much as we did.

See you in game! Remember dont trust elves!

My favorite thing about elves is that they are biodegradable.

Why are there no legal actions against Ravencraft (server located in EU) or their (official) Discord?

Just to re-iterate and state some things we thought were already apparent.

We feel very secure at the moment about the longevity of our project. We have not seen anything that would jeopardize the project long term, and as long as there is an anonymous community to continue to hold the distributed backups that we make daily, this server will live on. We still have all 8 Knowledge Keepers.

We do rely on FlokiNet to host our servers. We do not rely on FLokiNet to keep us anonymous or to keep our game backed up. If FlokiNet tomorrow was purchased by Blizzard just to get to us, they would have no more information than an email address and the servers (with multiple layers of encryption) that themselves contain no identifying information about any involved developers/contributors.

We cannot make statements about potential legal action against other servers as we have no more insight into that than anyone else. Legal actions like the ones we received are only public if the parties make them public. We can only say that we have received attention and our structure ensured that we are protected.
Sincerely,
