I have no idea about the services needed to maintain a WoW server. Do any companies in Russia provide similar services? Are they worth considering?

So, in the other, now closed thread, 'DDoS Round 12,' it came up that the IP to authenticate might be compromised.

I got no clue about stuff like that, can someone with some knowledge explain what this means ?
Is it still safe to connect ?
I asked AI (i know i know) and it said, among other things:

"A private game server should never autonomously scan third-party servers on the internet or launch brute-force attacks. If this happens, a third party has obtained root access or deployed malicious code on the machine."

Can someone shed some light on this?

dont tell me you play on octo with your normal pc? this is only playable on virtual machine or pc where you dont have any personal info.

My understanding is that people are reporting that the IP 185.165.170.59 is the address that is associated with flockinet but that exact IP is not necessarily octowow at flockinet. that one IP can be used by flockinet to direct to many different websites, services or apps that they host through virtualization or tcp ports. it's more likely a compromised wordpress website hosted with flockinet than octowow's server.

It's kind of like an apartment building. 185.165.170.59 is the building, one of the apartments in the building is making the whole building smell like crap, but it's not necessarily Mr. Octo's apartment.

Guys, 16 days in a row!!! Endless disconnects every evening. I realize you're doing everything possible to stop the attacks, but day by day, I'm losing interest in constantly having to log back in and getting kicked with high ping; it's a real shame the situation can't be stabilized. Just had to get this off my chest.

Hello , we have to endure because hard times create strong players. I have a feeling soon this will be all behind us and we will just make memes and laugh about it when we look back. Meanwhile i suggest doing some mob grindin or lvling up your profesions or fishing. Stay humble this is a free server most of us didn't pay a cent , yes we pay with our time but no one is forcing you to play, just be patient.
