Oh, didn't realise that.
All hail the technocratic overlords
Oh, didn't realise that.
They did go after Shagu. I guess they thought he worked for Turtlewow, but they certainly went after him regardlessPeter wrote: Sat Sep 12, 2026 12:29 pm These cease and desist letters are almost certainly fake. These people need to publicize the letters so the community can take a look at them.
But they are almost certainly fake because (1) as far as I know, no private server addon developers have ever received anything like this before and (2) GitHub hosts tons of similar software that never gets taken down, like windows activators, tools that rip videos and things from copyrighted sites, etc.
Of course it's possible that blizz might try to go after these random little addons, but it's exceedingly unlikely, and to me points solidly to the idea that these are faked by whoever is behind the ddos and they should not be taken seriously.
Again, these letters just need to be publicized and shared. There is no legal consequence to doing so
Yes, it still hosts, but there are also tons of projects that were taken down, DMCA'ed and C&D'ed. Github (and Discord also, by the way) should never be used for anything related to piracy, it will be taken down sooner or later. So many great projects from various scenes perished there, music ripping, emulators, manga/anime tools and so on.Peter wrote: Sat Sep 12, 2026 12:29 pm GitHub hosts tons of similar software that never gets taken down, like windows activators, tools that rip videos and things from copyrighted sites, etc.
Because they know that they can get away with it, just like they did when they sent one to Shagu over a year ago.Rathotdog wrote: Sat Sep 12, 2026 8:42 am Are those real CnD from Blizzard's lawyers?
Why would Blizzard go after GitHub contributors, instead of.. idk Ravencraft, who is both on Discord and also using cloudflare?
Unfortunately we have had an issue with spam bots on the Gitea instance and have had to manually approve new accounts. We just did another batch of approvals but if anyone is unapproved they are always welcome to DM me on the forums or email us at octowow@proton.me (although we are behind on our emails at the moment).Kalfis wrote: Sat Sep 12, 2026 8:53 am well I'm trying to get it on octo git but nobody as help me with my problem ... made this post 4 days ago
