Environment Textures Missing

Post#1 » Wed Sep 16, 2026 12:19 am

Hi! I'm a new player, and I had some trouble getting the game to run on Linux, but I finally managed to find a solution by tinkering a bit with Faugus.

The problem I'm running into now is that there are certain textures which don't seem to be rendering properly. It's quite annoying because it's huge terrain chunks, mostly the floors, that are missing and instead seem to be stuttering and flashing in and out of view somewhere else on the screen.

Has anyone else run into this problem?

Thanks to everyone in advance :3

I don't know if this information could help, but I went into the launcher folder and checked the debug log, this is what it said:

[0916/002655.347:WARNING:resource_bundle.cc(464)] locale_file_path.empty() for locale

I then checked the 'Locales' folder inside the launcher folder and it's empty. Is this supposed to be like that?

Why not use Lutris ?
I was running it with TurtleWoW and had no issues. Just search for WoW Wotlk and you should be good.

I don't remember how I ran TurtleWoW, I think I might have used their app image. (Love that they had Linux support ;__;)

I've tried manually installing OctoWoW on Lutris to no avail, but I'm gonna try what you've suggested. I hadn't thought about that, thank you! I'll let you know if it works :)

I couldn't do it with the WotLK client, but (after many tries and frustrations) I finally managed to make it work with Lutris, now I have no texture issues! :D
