I don't have any memories of GMs yapping for hours nearly every single day lol even including sensitive information of his personal life and violating the own server rules by also telling everyone online that he also works on multiple new zones as a dev... maybe that's your own experience from another p server?

No, there shouldn't be a second chance because this was just the tip of the iceberg and he clearly abused his power as a GM. He's not the right person for this task and we already had another GM just a couple weeks ago also not following the rules... It's getting out of hand if they don't draw a clear line now and will hurt the server's reputation.

I would agree with Darktifa. I think people here are starting to talk about Pig as if that conversation with a player was the only thing he ever did as a GM, while forgetting that there were many good things he contributed before.

I can’t know what exactly happened internally, but I feel like removing him from the GM role was not only about the mistake itself, but also about showing the community that the Octoteam takes trust and reputation seriously.
But honestly, do we really want GM-robots? I think most players appreciate having human GMs who talk, interact and care about the community.

At the same time, I think people who take responsibility should know that making a mistake does not erase everything good they have done before. They can still be supported as people and appreciated for the good things they have done. Yet support is not lack of consequences. Consequences are necessary, but a community should also leave room for people to learn and rebuild trust.

I know many people here see it as "if there is no demotion or ban, there is no punishment", but I think it is easy to see that we all here are a hell of a punishment. Social consequensces do exist.

If the Dev team decides that he deserves a second chance and Pig wants to take it, I would support that. Because rebuilding reputation after something like this is extremely difficult — but that would be his responsibility.

Maybe he yapped a little too much sometimes or even mistakenly presented his own opinions as the ones of the Dev team

Ok, he made some wrong decisions, but it's obvious that he is passionate and loves what he is doing
Personally, i prefer a "human" GM with his mistakes, than a "robot" replying "thank u for your patronage" and zero interaction

Apart from that, as a GM, he gonna be criticized for his actions, even if they were 100% justified
The bloodthirsty crowd was asking for his head, but let's not forget, that among those critisizing him are also the salty-jealous players (who were muted by him for example) and found the opportunity to harm his popularity

Don't let the trolls win, GM Pig should learn from his mistakes and should be given a second chance (if he desires it though)

Do you realize that it was (on the other server) the staff's excessive involvement in players affairs that contributed to your problems with the people?

He had one chance - everyone should get exactly one (1) chance when taking on a role as responsible as that of a GM.

I disagree. Having a GM constantly oversharing (either his personal views or even details about his own life) in the world chat, who even GMed his wife, goes against the "No Trust" principle the server was founded on.

To top it off, he abused his power as GM. Honestly it was only a matter of time.

I fully believe they made the right decision by demoting him.

While I generally do LIKE pig, this wasn't because he liked to chat in /world, or connected with people well. There were multiple instances where he unfortunately showed poor judgement/lack of restraint necessary for the role. The thing with lyric was not the first time he stepped beyond these constraints. Due to the anonymous nature of staff, there must be a higher standard. The appearance of impropriety is as bad as impropriety itself when concerning public trust and transparency. He is definitely passionate and I do hope he finds joy in helping on the backend however that happens to pan out.

You know, he probably was and still is a great guy who only wanted the best. But that's precisely the problem. A GM isn't a nice guy who's always willing to help and communicates with people on the server. GM its someone who literally solves problems and monitors the server and players. There's no room for friendship or personal attachments. When personal relationships leak into work, it's literally a recipe for disaster and that what happens here. I say this as someone who literally worked as a GM for several years at a major mmo game.

He literally discredited the server with his behaviour. But we clearly shouldn’t forget the good things he did, I completely agree here.
