Hit cap is 8%/16% for melee/spell, it's 9/17 in classic. Twow changed a lot of spell coefficients, introduced ap scaling for shaman shocks, etc. This isn't classic, it's better.
Ok, they added some spells, coefs, items!
But what mechanics was added

?
You havent named a single one.
You still got "quests" for weapon skills, which i quite a lot in terms of spending some gold for pure hit rating.
i dont fully understand what mechanic means to you in this context. i would call ws quests content, i would call hit cap and coeffs mechanics. potato potawto, it seems we're talking past each other.
To sum up - Mysteries of Azeroth haven't changed anything else in terms of pvp mechanics other than adding resi (to existing pvp items eg AB 3 piece sets and adding new items from dungs/raids), expanded with 1.18.1 into 3 tier sets.
And old ranking was changed into new honor based with ranks as flavour (and gear req).
You wrote about changes in mechanics, removing hit req for pvp surely would be HUGE change for miss/resist mechanic (so called RNG).
So my point is: turtle havent changed much on design basis of our 20 years old game.
We play this game cause we like this oldschool rules. Don't we?
