Grace Period for Disconnects/Crashes in Battlegrounds

Right now, if you disconnect or crash out of a BG, you're treated the same as someone who quits on purpose, you lose your spot, eat the deserter penalty, etc.
That's rough for something completely outside your control (ISP hiccup, client crash, power blip).

Suggestion:
Add a short grace period (like 1 minute top to prevent team being behind to long) after a disconnect/crash where the player can reconnect and rejoin the same BG without penalty, keeping their queue spot/team assignment.

Important distinction:
This should not apply to players who manually go /afk or intentionally leave, that's a deliberate action and should still carry the normal penalty. The grace period is specifically for involuntary drops (client crash, connection loss), which the game can already usually detect (e.g. a disconnect state vs. a normal logout/leave).

So I just want to start by saying that I fully agree with the sentiment, it really sucks losing your connection and getting deserter. However, unfortunately I am not sure they could easily implement this change without it being abused.

So in other games where they do similar things, what I saw happen is people essentially creating a kill switch for their Internet. There's a few ways you can do that from what I understand, and it would appear to the server as if you had a legitimate disconnect, and I don't really think there's any way for the server to be able to tell. So if we did implement a change like this it would end up being abused in very short order.

That said, and it would take effort and oversight from the GMs, something like that could be implemented with a tracking system associated with it. For example if you "disconnect" multiple times in BGs it would raise a red flag, a GM could look, and if the disconnects were all occurring during a losing match then they could receive a warning. I'm unsure how difficult something like that would be to implement, and it would also probably be hard to tell whether the matches they disconnect from were losing matches.

You basically just wrote a whole lot of nothing to say... nothing. If it's going to be abused — how exactly? You can't even provide a single example.

Holydruid is saying if the disconnect is short and not on his terms he should be able to reconnect directly to the battleground. He's not asking to be able to leave and join another battleground right away without consequences.
If anything the only way this could be abused is for win trading and reports exist precisely for that reason ; in fact holding a slot by disconnecting and reconnecting would be a graver offense than what already exists as a bannable offense — queue canceling.

Try making some sense and do work on your reading comprehension.

Defiant... this isn't the Octowow shared forum. You asked for segregation — you got it — this is the Y'Shaarj forum.

Kestrel was clear when he made the announcement. Are there really no interesting topics in your parts of the world?

The servers will not be handled as one going forward and the changes already made on HC prove that. Keep your opinions to your parts of the forum. More so if you repeatedly and continuously miscontrue what's being said.

There are no negatives to what he's asking for — if anything it's a positive because you won't have to play 7v10 for 5 minutes until others join since the players never wanted to leave and will simply come back for it to be 10v10 again

Yeah, I also didn't understand how it can be abused.

Back the fock off already. Unless they'll make baseline changes to only one realm. which 99% surely they won't. This is a PvP issue, not Y'S. Stop sniffing glue.

Y'Shaarj already has exclusive PvP realm quests and events planned specifically for PvP. C'thun already has exclusive quests and mechanics tailored to HC.

The three realms are evolving differently.
They've already made baseline changes.

Of course this kind of fix or implementation would impact both servers (maybe all 3 since HC players are asking for BG deaths to not count as permanent) but I addressed that and you did too — it's not really abusable.

What's abuse however is Defiant allowing himself to come here after insulting everyone without ever once providing a single argument outside of "but this is vanilla" as a counter point to anything and everything and demanded segregation — he got his segregation — he shouldn't even allow himself to post here. Which part of that is hard to understand?

If Defiant wants people on N'Zoth to not be able to rejoin BG's after any sort of disconnect be it client side or server side, he's perfectly entitled to it — but on N'Zoth. He can make that suggestion on the N'Zoth forum so the PvE folk also get to see how much of a clown he is.

Once again we are asking to keep our forum relevent for our server, pve has their own forum and should use it. Or should we spam every servers forum with garbage aswell to make a point?

I think you both can voice your opinion on any matter. For the record, sometimes I agree with "one side", sometimes the other...

HE didn't get his way regarding segregating forums. They did that for whatever reason regardless of one person's opinion.

Just stop bashing each other and act like you speak on behalf of the entire one side of the community. Also, it's not productive to circle back around and repeat the same arguments over and over. You don't have to agree with each other. It's not serving the discussion and it's annoying for everyone else.

Point to a single argument he's made that isn't a word salad with no substance, hand-waving, obfuscation, circular reasoning, sophistry or simply bad faith.

He asked for segregation. No one else ever asked for that on the forums. I never said they answered his specific demand ; I'm saying that now that he finally has it, he has the intellectual dishonesty to continue posting here.
