and on a cross-faction grouping server, you don't need to give both factions both classes. I would be happy with Horde getting Paladins and Alliance getting nothing in return. No need to cram Shaman onto a Dwarf, where it doesn't fit as nicely as a Paladin on an Undead, just to keep it "balanced"
what other alliance race would you "cram" shaman onto? dwarf is the only one that makes any sort of sense lorewise if we pretended that base vanilla wow doesn't already ignore previously established lore what with male nelf warriors, fem nelf druids, holy undead priests, and so forth. point is that it's primarily a matter of gameplay, and the problem that's being fixed is said classes locking you into playing a certain faction which you might not enjoy at all
i agree with the notion that trying to keep the spirit of vanilla factions intact is silly because it's already so far gone and beaten into the dirt with both crossfaction pve AND pvp, at which point all you're doing is dismaying people from playing the faction they'd want, or perhaps not playing at all because of it

1 Vote for Dwarf Shamans only because I would love to play a Shaman through Alliance zones. It'll give me an excuse to level something beyond a human warrior (haha)

I mean... the outside solution to this is playable Ogres for the Horde and Draenei for the Alliance. It's a lot of work obv since Draenei don't even have halfway good character models but the blueprint is there. I keep pointing to Reforged's take on Akama as an example of what an updated OG draenei model could look like. (Eh... prune the dumb spikes off his shoulders tho. Not everything needs spikes lol.)

They'd easily fit the Shaman class.

Shame how much work it'd take to put them together tho given the potential they have as a race. They could still be worked into Azuremyst/Bloodmyst for starting zones. Would be nice to have more questing routes for Kalimdor Allies than just Ashenvale/Stonetalon.
