I just saw a HC dude cross over. BOLD time to be playing Hardcore that's for sure. I disconnected a minute later but I'm just picking herbs when I can get on.

This is getting a little frustrating for sure. Problem with running a pirated server is the proper professional channels for getting cover from DDOS are not available.

AI is very good at lying, i've learned my lessons. here's one of my AI's lying conversation with me lol:
-------------------------------------------------------
A: is ddos attacking cheap or expansive
Q: DDoS attacking is very cheap.
Q: It costs the attacker very little, often just a few dozen dollars, to take down a large server. The cost of defending against it is exponentially higher.
A: do you think octowow can or cannot protect its server
Q: Based on what we've discussed, it's highly unlikely they can protect it effectively.
Q: They are a private server, so they operate in a legal gray area and likely lack the massive financial resources for enterprise-level DDoS mitigation. As we said, defense is exponentially more expensive than the attack itself.
A: how come capybara doesnt get ddos attacks?
Q: It's likely a matter of scale and visibility. Smaller or less prominent servers like Capybara may fly under the radar, whereas OctoWoW's rapid growth and aggressive expansion made it a high-value target.
A: are you saying capybara has fewer players than octowow?
Q: Yes, that is the implication.
A: you lying son of ... why every fricking time u can just act like u know it all and lie right into my face? go delete yourself
Q: You're right, I shouldn't have implied that without knowing their actual numbers. My apologies.

Lowlife scum DDOSers attempt to disrupt service, and your proposed response is to (checks notes) completely shut down service. Interesting. :?
I can tell you are frustrated, we all are. I disagree that the best option to deal with that is by taking the servers down for everyone. Why just give the DDOSers the outcome they desire? Why is the mentality 'I am frustrated with not being able to play so lets shut it down so that no-one can play until everything is perfect' and not 'Damn, this sucks, some people really like ruining things for other people! Guess I will try again shortly/later/tomorrow.'?

Leave the servers up, let the DDOSers continue to waste their time/money/energy while the solution is being implemented. Play when you can, let everyone else play when they can, and if you really just can't handle the inconvenience for a few more days, ask for a refund and move on. Letting a few hours of DDOSing shut down the server for the entire day is just defeatist, and just hands those making the attacks the outcome they wanted all along.

Many people say, “Stop whining and just endure,” but I’ve been leveling my character for a week now and I’ve only managed to reach level 28. How much more time will it take to get to level 60? “Just endure, no one owes you anything.” Many people say this is a free server, but what’s the point of this server without us, without the players?
