I was going to mention something similar: they should set up double or triple XP across the entire server for a few weeks. Honestly, it’s really discouraging to lose time during server outages—especially for those of us who work and don't have much time to level up.
I, for one, am not in favor of this. It's a free game...with people who are doing this for free. Asking or demanding something for ..nothing....just seems like a door that should not be opened. Next thing we know..every little inconvenience someone has "waahhhhh/cry I want something freeee!!" ..Just my perspective. Let's just..take a breath...and let this play out...support the game and devs, if you want, by the contribution store where you can pick the reward you want for supporting this FREE game. Thanks..and keep up the good fight!

The lack of transparency about what is actually happening and the absence of any compensation for affected players are taking a heavy toll: dissatisfaction is evident, and many players are already looking for alternatives. If the team does not address this crisis with transparency, a massive loss of players will be inevitable.
What?? Them giving you a literal timeline of the DDoS attacks for a fucking free project isn't transparent enough? Someone is attacking the server and they've been transparent that they're doing everything they can and are working with the hosting provider to harden the server with more defenses soon.

"100% of text is likely AI"

It's just more astroturfing most likely.

Free project or not, players' time is still valuable. Publishing a timeline isn't the same as addressing underlying stability issues or fixing transparency. There's no need for hostility over valid community feedback.

You are wrong on every point. The dev team has kept us informed all along of what is happening and the measures taken to counter it. They could not be more transparent.

As for compensation, what have you spent other than your time? Because if you are paying 0, the return to that is big fat 0. The entitlement level is astounding.

Last, the community reached it's highest peak levels today, 4000 players strong. I think the influx is much higher than your so called "exodus".

TLDR Enjoy the game and go troll elsewhere

Just because it’s "free" doesn’t mean it’s good. Just as the hosts and service providers ask us—the players—for patience, support, loyalty, and for us to stick around, we have the right to ask for something in return, given the game's current state. We aren't asking for money; we are simply calling for a gesture that acknowledges the time we’re losing—time that can't be recovered in the game. Besides, no one forced the people hosting OctoWow to do it; since they chose to run it, providing a quality service is the bare minimum of their responsibility. That’s what would motivate players to contribute money through donations, but you can't donate to something that’s broken. This isn't the first "free" WoW project where this exact scenario has played out: after a few weeks or months, the hosts claim the game or server is under attack, only to turn around and ask for money to "upgrade" the servers. Many users have asked for proof of these attacks, yet the responses are always vague. I have no problem donating; my issue is that I don't like putting money into something that doesn't work.

I do find it very humorous that if you pop this comment into literally any AI detector they all say 100% AI.

When Ravencraft launched they accused Octowow of being AI slop.

Now the people astroturfing and clearly trying to agitate are utilizing AI slop.

Can't make this shit up.
