Perhaps its not about how to defense against ddos? is there a chance that we are the bad guys?

I went download capybara today, and i found my old twow asia server account is still there, and my mage with t3 set is still there lol.

if digging into technical way can't protect the server, perhaps octowow owners should consider business methods, afterall private server is not really a charity server but another profitable business act, and you want to have a peaceful environment when u r trying to grow a business. and this community is everything for octowow. please dont let your fans down.

oh and btw, its so obvious capybara owns or has some sort of business relation to ravencraft. after blizzard took turtle wow to california court, turtle wow EU is shut down and forever gone with its codes and player database. capybara is turtle wow asia server and is the only one who has the latest turtle wow codes, and its so obvious its capybara who's behind the ddos atk on octowow for its EU franchise server ravencraft. Question is, who attack first? by default we think they attacked us, but is it really? could it be a chance that we attack them first?

why do you wanna allow chinese to be able download octowow in chinese client with fully addons pre-installed? while capybara is only designed for chinese wow gamers, the only language there is chinese? if i am the owner of capybara, i would see octowow chinese game client as an act of war. get it? regardless how cheap or expansive the ddos attack is, capybara has a population 5 folds octowow, do you really wanna take the chance of hurting your EU gamer community go to war with them for chinese donations?

When will the provider finally get back to you? If it’s a paid service, they should have an SLA for its provision.

Do we already have or will we get BGP routing? Is GRE Tunneling thru Path.net / CosmicGuard an option? Can you give ANY details about what we got in terms of DDoS protection and what we are looking to get in the future. I mean just getting a bigger pipe prolly wont fix anything or am i wrong there?

capybara is booming...

btw, the only reason turtle grew its populaion over 40k was because blizzard couldnt reach its agreement with its chinese franchise and led to blizzard wow china server shut down from early 2023 to mid 2024. and before that, turtle wow had an average population of 4k, peaks at 6k. After blizzard china server shut down, turtle population went up to 24k back in mid 2023, and after turtle wow opened its asia server, the total turtle wow population reach over 40k, huge profit growth or suicide? run ur private server under the rador and make no noise please, dont let your greed hurting ur fans again. with a 40k population, of course blizzard will come after you, again, who attacked first between turtle wow and blizzard? turtle did, cuz they wanted the chinese donation, and now, is octowow after the chinese donation again? really?

the original turtle wow devs group up and went on creating their own new mmorpg? if it is true then how silly, that sounds like a joke to me.

Ordering a simple, small-scale DDoS attack can cost as little as $7: but the DDoS as a service market offers far wider-ranging and more expensive options. Some services allow for a customer to choose a specific attack scenario, and combine different forms of attack depending on the victim’s own circumstances.

Considering one report from cybersecurity researcher Denis Makrushin, ongoing attacks can cost around $20 per hour to conduct, with the provider further offering bonus points and hours in their own version of a loyalty scheme.

When delving into DDoS providers’ profit margins, compare this with the price of virtual servers: Amazon EC2 servers with next-to-no-configuration cost less than $0.007 per hour. 50 of these for a simple attack against an eCommerce store would only cost the cybercriminals around $0.325 for each hour of active attack.

Throw in some additional costs, like a burner SIM card to register the AWS account and a credit card to it, the hourly cost of performing a simple DDoS attack can be as low as $4.
It doesn't make any sense. If it was that cheap, what would prevent Microsoft themselves from anonymously ordering mass DDoS to get rid of literally every WoW server? And then asking the legal DDoS protections providers to snitch on the remaining ones?

question is, are these technical methods are a sure thing, can it guarantee ending the ddos attack 100%? or are you gambling your community with ur ddos defense?
