we got to have a talk about the discord. a mod that i wont name because im not sure she is even smart enought to understand words. but she put me in timeout for 24 hours for proving her wrong. this is the kinda of shit will push people away we are mad and we want to vent our frustration the discord is the closest place to a octo community we have during these trying times. i dont know who is in charge over there but what is your goal if you dont want people to talk in the general tab then why is there one in the first place

The discord is unofficial and I don't encourage anyone to join it, it's a very disingenuous place. Bad faith actors are not only allowed to run rampant, but are in power. Best to just ignore it and focus on the game, you won't achieve anything by complaining or interacting with it.

Yeah, the discord is "unofficial" but is directly linked from the website, so it is pretty official. For an "official unofficial" Discord it is degenerate and disgusting. Go there for information on the game and it's filled with degenerate sexual topics constantly, wildly bad representation for a game server.

It's a primo example of why Discord is a cesspool.

If you’re the dude who got muted for saying you’d masturbate and upload it to YouTube and send it to OctoWow to be on the website, I got one thing to say: LMFAO

If not: mutes are temporary. Not a permanent ban and not your personal place to vent your frustrations by being nasty. The discord mods are not your personal punching bags. You’ll live.

Well just to bring attention to the situation. I know the discord that is listed on the main site is an “unofficial” discord server but it is representative of the project as a a whole. Now I don’t really expect anyone to give a shit that why it’s labeled at “unofficial” no one wants to take responsibility of it. But I’m hoping someone who might actually care about the community that can do something about it might do it. But it’s mainly just a rant

Yeah that was me but it was simply a state to show the nonesense of her reasoning. I never used vulgar lauguage like masturbate I made sure I stay well within the rules. I wouldn’t care if I got a time out for breaking rules. But I got it because she “ wasn’t discuss it with stupid people” or something as weak as that.

The other half is that people are retarded. People see the discord linked on the site and think it's "official" or "officially endorsed" because its listed on here. They will think it's actions are endorsed by the devs.

I get that I don’t blame the devs I love devs I love octo. I know the devs are doing everything they can to fix the soda problem. This is why I at least tried to write not important lol mess that up. I know it’s not official but I bet the people who run the discord watch the forum and it’s worth atleast bringing attention to. I’m not even expecting anything to be done about it. But it still worth saying.

You're not going to accomplish anything in this thread. You're just going to draw the attention of the people who live in there. When I was in there, there was so much sexual stuff coming from pink names and one of them even mentioned being into gore, and like, no. Just go, don't bring attention, don't interact. Bad faith actors crave the attention to turn into a victim complex to leverage power. Starve them of the attention and energy they are seeking from you. This goes for discord, world chat, whatever. Let them burn their goodwill up without sapping you in the process. And for the love of god, don't stoop to their level, it just makes you look worse in the process.
