I hate being Alliance but wanted to try Paladin for a change and I miss being a Tauren.

While it's certainly not as bad an idea as Undead Paladins, I'm definitely not for it.

Tauren Priest was very well handled, so I can see it working *mechanically*.
I very much liked the way Turtle expanded on the idea of Tauren having aspects of their culture that worship the heavenly bodies, which in real life is/was present in many different native american spiritual traditions.
How-eeev-errr, there is a clear difference between Priests and Paladins. Trolls, Undead, and Night Elves can all be Priests, but they cannot be paladins.
The Races which can are the Humans, Dwarves, and High Elves. The common trait of these races is their self-centered nature. Priests are humble, Paladins are ASSERTIVE. Paladins inherently MUST believe that THEY are right, and with absolute unflinching righteousness. In Warcraft 3, Arthas lost his way of being a paladin as doubt crept in to his mind from the choices he made.
Tauren believe that they are but a small part of "The Great Balance", and that they are little more than guardians of nature where unnatural elements emerge. This is a respect and understanding of nature but it is nowhere near the presumptive benevolence for a paladin. Taurens dont preach, they teach.

Historically, yes. But many Tauren have sat by and watched the rest of the Azeroths struggles, and some surely would emerge from that with a new respect for the how bad things can get when "The Great Balance" is threatened.
No society is completely monolithic either. Some surely would want to help maintain "The Great Balance" by taking up arms in support of the Light, having seen the darkness encroaching on their lands.
And while Tauren are naturally more peaceful and less assertive, well, even the most stoic of individuals can be pushed too far by the forces of evil.

Not the Light! But a far more visible font of power...THE SUN!
