WoW Forever

What do you guys think about their reveal?
I'm actually surprised at how it's nothing special. It's basically the same as Turtle/Octo, maybe even worse in some ways.
I thought they'd release something at least half-decent and then private servers can steal some ideas from them, but no.. they literally don't have anything new. Even the comments on youtube are roasting them how it's just Turtle.

Here's a gameplay features video for those who didn't saw it

Dont feel good about High Elf Paladins, or the new race. The new zones and zone revamps look pretty okay but the after panel seems to be telling me its going to play like a more modern WoW. :?

I feel like private servers like Turlte and Octo paid more respect to the old lore and did it more faithfully than Blizzard themselves.
Who in their right mind would put in their game an undead paladin?! Turtle/Octo added new class/race combos too, but everything they did was more lore friendly. Human hunters - fine, makes sense. Meanwhile Blizz literally went with the SoD route where they have tank rogues and warlocks, and other bullshit.
Same goes for zones. Turtle expanded old zones with new quests, but I think those quests and zones are far closer to old vanilla/wc lore than what blizz is going to do. The moment I heard that lame-ass narration voice in the cinematic trailer, I knew it's going to be just another Dragonflight.
Same with those blue elves. Like wtf is a skyborne?! High elves make 100x more sense.

The only advantage WoW Forever may have over Octo is that they'll probably use some newer client with better performance, visuals, and quality of life features.

Even then, I like to think I can speak for others when I say that it takes more than flash to convince people of a Classic+ world. it just doesnt seem like the current cadre would know what we're looking for.

I'm going to be honest, I will definitely try it whenever some private server releases for it lol. No way in hell I'm paying money to blizz.
But I do not expect too much from it. And it will almost certainly be harder to mod, which is a very bad thing.

My expectations were low, but oh boy...

These new stuff has retail fingerprints all over it. It's as you said OP, this new team doesn't get the original Warcraft, and the Skyborne is the biggest proof of it. They literally ass pulled elf race out of thin air, and shoved it into the game.

Elf race that can be shamans! And join the horde!

Could they BE even more tone deaf?!

The entire appeal of classic horde is that it has no elves! Ever since blood elves were added Horde completely lost it's flavour, because it became an elf faction. And they made elf shamans. Like no. That's just gross.
And they even hid this race behind a paywall. At one side it's good that it's hidden, on the other hand it's a massive red flag.
I already hated that they did this in Diablo3, where they re-introduced a class but you had to pay extra in order to play it (Necromancer). No chance I'd ever do that.

And now you probably have to pay for this game separately, pay monthly subscription to get subpar product. With additions that pull you completely out of experience. They'd have to pay me in order to play it, not the other way around.

I can't believe Turtle was killed for that.

Its frustrating, I agree with you. Its baffling actually that they managed to invent a new race, its an inventive slope that I dont see as a sign of good faith for the life of it.

Wait wtf the skyborne are going to be in the horde?! I didn't even know that lol. Where did you see that info about shamans and so on?
And I have to agree, even though I don't like and don't play horde. The old vanilla horde was savage and a bunch of misfits and "rejects" trying to find its place in a new world. And while I do see how blood elves kinda fit there, I still don't like that. I'd rather have regular High elves join the alliance like we have here, and then have something else for the horde.
That truly is crazy, man..

They are doing a pandaren route, can choose which side to join.
