The route takes a ridiculous loop around the whole island, and also waits a long time at the docks. It's almost always faster to swim right now, than to wait for a boat.

suggestion: make it go in a more straight line, wait shorter.

OR replace with a flight path

Yeah, it's a bit odd that swimming usually takes less time than waiting for a boat. It's immersive trip though.

However, I don't like your suggestion.
I think the most creative way to give this ship a new destiny is to add high level elite sharks to the water between Feralas and Feathermoon so there will be a risk included if you decide to go faster and less-immersive way.
