Battleground Replay Demos

Along with the addition of sharded cross realm battlegrounds, the team has been working hard and are excited to announce the introduction of a first of its kind replay system for battlegrounds.
All battlegrounds will be recorded and can be re-watched as a spectator in game. We think this feature is not only great for players that want to analyze and improve in PvP, but also for allowing GM's and moderators to review past matches for alleged AFK abuse, cheating, and griefing. These demos will also play a pivotal roll in allowing us to deeply analyze the PvP balance to better inform future class balancing changes.

To review a match demo you can travel to the Battle Historian located in Stormwind Keep Library or the Battle Keeper located in Orgimmar's Grommash Hold. You can speak to your towns guard to help you locate them.

Demo's will be available for review for up to 1 week after taking place, and you will have the option to archive any of your battles to keep them indefinitely if desired.
Sincerely,

Damn. Another golden egg by the goose.

For sure, that sounds useful for balancing. However, given how anecdotal individual matches can be, do you have statistical data like win-rate by class/spec (focused mainly on PvP)?

Rather than raw DPS or TDO, I suggest in PvP win rates and PvE presence/utility are better target metrics.

We have been using win-rate by class/spec and other statistics in our balancing work/research already.

The nature of this feature opens the door for advanced telemetry that can be used to analyze class behaviors in all kinds of new and interesting ways (much better combat log data, positional telemetry, identifying matches with an outlier (afk, toxicity, greifing, wintrading), ect).

This feature (similar to the cross realm battleground feature) has a lot of value on the back end of it as well. We are excited to utilize that in future features yet to be announced ;)

Amazing feature, hats off to you guys for this.

Hopefully in time this will keep PVP competitive and fun for everyone.

There is clearly a problem in AB and this was prominent on TA as well, purely from a mechanical perspective with Pallys and AB.

Alliance simply need 2 or 3 Pallys and the game just becomes boring, the bubble and flag defending immunity is just absurd and needs to be sorted.
It's not skillful and alliance even play to this mechanical issue.

It's no secret. You don't need nerf the class, just change it so if they interact or damage any player capping or defending a flag they lose the bubble. They can't carry a flag or cap a flag with a bubble, yes it will need some competant coding but it shouldn't be an excuse to not sort it.

Please release the win/lose ratio stats and relative Pallys per AB.

I guarantee you it will reveal something obvious...

Could you please tell me, should a warlock's succubus Seduction go through a paladin's bubble?
Is this a bug or is it supposed to be like that?

Was just checking the Battle Historian in the SW Library on the HC Server (C'thun) but there are no records to replay.

We had a couple 3vs3 WSG matches in the lvl 60 Bracket already today but seemingly nothing got recorded or is watchable.
Is this just not working for WSG atm or is this a C'thun Server issue?
Or do you need to be lvl 60 in order to be able to watch a replay?

I love this so much! <3

I'm not sure if it's on my end or if others have experienced this while looking back at their BG footage but the naming seems to be off. So for me, the name "Doakes" (an undead rogue) showed up over another player (an orc) and when I found myself at the BS in AB, my avatar was running around but it had someone else's name over it.

This could be an issue on my side entirely but I'm curious if anyone else has had this happen when looking back at recorded BGs.

Currently HC BG's are not being recorded. This will change soon
