In reality, Blizzard stripped out the MMO "PK" (Player Killer) concept to make the game more casual and avoid alienating new players.
It’s time to make PvP hardcore again! We want a Free-for-All WarMode for PvP server outside of inn zones; killing a player from your own faction should result in an honor penalty, a loss of reputation with the victim's faction (race), and a Dishonorable Kill point.

Guards across Azeroth need to earn their keep! Guards must stay on the alert! Now you can toggle War Mode from the reputation menu—even with your own faction! To balance this, killing a member of the opposing faction while War Mode is active grants 1 reputation point, based on the following pairings: Human–Orc, Dwarf–Tauren, High Elf–Troll, Gnome–Goblin, and Night Elf–Undead.
