This point is moot. It's contradicted by the very fact there are donation rewards.
"You will enjoy the apples, especially as you have already tasted the oranges."

Out of here with your bad faith rhetoric. You've got a bad bug stuck in your head and you want everyone else to have one too and no amount of reason is gonna shift you so go back to the shadow.

Yes, one could argue that that could be considered RMT, and I guess that's the main argument against.

However, not only might this increase the revenue to the server and maintain it's development and quality. It also opens up indirect donations when only donation option is crypto.

I guess it would also help keep inflation down because of AH cuts.
So you want the ability to buy gold. You want to be able to Donate and then sell those items for gold. Go play on Warmane.

Donation rewards do not enable you to buy gold. What are you even on about. We ban RMTers here, and you want Octo to basically enable everyone to RMT?

That sort of crap would alienate the vast majority of the community here. There are plenty of Pay2Win servers and this isnt one of them.

That gold is already existing and circling the economy though. And the donation items are not pay to win. They give some cosmetics and QoL/convenience.

Yes, there might be some whales that get an easy way to get (already existing) gold to buy some mounts and consumes (gold returns to the economy), but I say it's worth it because it'll increase the server income and upkeep.

You're free to give away your donation points or gold for free, but if it's a transaction it's troublesome?

I don't see a problem people buying WoW subscription time with gold on Blizzard. This would be somewhat similar. The problem is Blizzard selling insta-level boosts.

People are already very passionate and defensive about allowing boosting (a lvl 60 on /follow one-shotting and circumventing the leveling experience and world immersion for everyone else).

Does boosting reward effort in game, or circumvent it?

What exactly can having easy access to gold get you that is Pay2Win? (Except circumventing timespending, similar to Boosting; or pay for convenience, similar to Donation items)

We want to financially support the server.
No new gold is added to the economy.
The negative is someone can get access to somewhat fast gold, but the benefit (which I think outweighs the drawback) is increased revenue to the server.

Don't want this? I hope you're also against allowing boosting...

It would be cool indeed to obtain such items if they were BoE.

However, cons outweigh pros of this decision. Simply: RMT.

World of Warcraft was designed to be egalitarian game - as long as you pay for sub and own the game, your money can't give you an advantage in any further way.

Making donation items BoE break this fundamental rule. What stops the billionaire from purchasing 100 donation items and then selling them on AH for gold? What stops them then from buying BiS gear from the AH? The unseen consequences would be that the BiS gear on AH could be bought only by people with real money because only they could affort it after the price goes absurdly high (that's my prediction but I think that spending real money and then exchanging it for gold via trade is the fastest "gold farm").

You won't find the BiS gear on AH? At least you shouldn't...

I'd prefer if OctoWoW was subscription-based with no donation rewards. But that's not the world we live in.

The way the economy works, if a billionare did buy unlimited donation items, the price and worth of those donation items would fall as well. But that's beside the point.

As long as the donation shop still has items like portable bank, AH, and vendor I do agree that these should be BoE. Players who never donate don't have access to items like these, and these items are effectively a gold/hour multiplier. To me, buying gold straight up and buying a permanent gold/hour multiplier is in the same category. I would much rather see the removal of these QoL/convienience items from the donation shop, but that is likely not happening, so this suggestion is the next best thing.

This is literal RMT, except this time it would be under the supervision of GMs and developers instead of some random website. One of the worst suggestions I have ever heard.

Im not reading your essay on why buying gold is actually a good thing.

Go play Warmane. This isnt the server for you, RMT gets banned here.
