I just wanted to leave a message to apologize properly.

I was in the wrong, and I understand why action was taken. I’m not writing this to discuss the ban, argue about the punishment, or try to get anything overturned. I accept the consequences of what I did.

More importantly, I want to say that I genuinely respect the work you guys are doing. Taking something like Turtle WoW and putting the amount of time, effort, development, moderation, and care into creating Octo is no small thing. It’s easy as a player to only see the game in front of you and forget how much work happens behind the scenes to keep something like this running and to build the kind of community you’re trying to create.

I understand and agree with why you have to enforce the rules the way you do. A project and community like this only works if there are boundaries, and I crossed one of them. So I’ll take the punishment that comes with that.

Regardless of what happened, I don’t want my mistake to take away from the fact that I appreciate what you’ve built and the work you continue putting into it. I had the opportunity to enjoy something you created, and for that I’m genuinely thankful.

So no excuses, no appeal, and no expectation that anything changes because of this message. I just wanted to own what I did, apologize for it, and thank everyone involved for the time and effort you put into Octo.

I wish you guys and the project nothing but the best going forward.

When do banned characters get deleted?

Lowkey someone who got banned had the name I really wanted for a character.

Of course if you feel you or a friend was banned by mistake do make a ban appeal post. Keep in mind this invovles us digging further into you and your account so if you know what you did just don't waste our time o7

As always, here is the full list of characters/level that were banned (this time restricted to those over level 20);

Instead of a ban, I suggest issuing a permanent debuff that limits the maximum amount of gold on characters to 5 gold

each banwave: highest seller and buyer for each race will have their head on bloody spike in front of their capital city. stays there until next trash removal happens. on mouse over: date of account creation - date of execution, volume of gold transaction

I've got an idea! Let's split the gold from banned accounts among the server's active players

Turn them into NPCs and hang them from the gallows outside Stormwind and Orgrimmar, only wearing the stuff they bought with the RMT gold. In the old days that was the most effective deterrent to warn folks coming to town that the law was not to be trifled with.

I feel like perma ban, begone and get forgotten are absolutely the best approach, and honestly, I don't think RMTers deserve any kind of permanent monument in the game. No heads on spikes, no shrines, no Hall of Shame that lets them become part of the server's history. They fucked up, they fuck right off, and that's the end of their story.

If anything, the ban announcements could be more shaming. Like “This idiot has just purchased the most expensive permanent ban on the server.”

But as far as I know, there has been a precedent where someone was allowed to keep their account after an RMT ban. So if you ever decide to make an exception and give someone a second chance again, I think it would be cool to have a shaming RP event. I mean, second chances for RMT made me sad, so if u ever do it again, let's at least add some fun to it.

Like a public trial. A shame title. A proper whipping in the capital. Players throwing tomatoes and rocks. A full walk of shame to some prison/cage.
And then the character has to actually serve their sentence in a physical cell for a certain amount of online game time. No AH, no mailbox, no hearth, no convenient escape — just stay there and talk if u want. Ofc, they should be free to leave the cell if they want. But leaving, accepting a summon, or otherwise escaping would mean rejecting the second chance and immediately returning to the perma ban... My imagination can go on forever with this, but I think u have your own ideas to come up with the best version

So if u ever want to make an exception to a perma ban again, at least let's add some shame and make it fun for the players.

Would be nice in the banlist wave to state/seperate em in what server they playd on. Easyer to shame em.

Many of them just start again and make a fresh account. One guy from the list had already 2 accounts banned and is currently playing on his third
