Re: Nightfall community Dispute

I've done 100s of trades on this server, out of those two people didnt give a tip. Note that I do not ask for a tip either. I know because I save non-tippers in case they ever ask again. I do enchanting, hence the high number.

So the "buyer" here is in the 99th percentile of a special breed of people for me, and not in a positive manner. The crafter might assume they are joking first. That they are waiting for a response and are baffled does not surprise me, as this is a craft that very few people need, making the "buyer" an even more of a jerk.

Now you keep going back to the rules, the rule says this:
Agreeing to a transaction only to steal the materials or attempt to extort a higher price is considered scamming, and is forbidden on our network.
What is the agreed price here? Who gets to dictate this? You clearly take the "buyer is always right" approach and claim its zero. As a crafter with 100s of trades, the expectation and normal behaviour on the server is NOT zero. Less than 1% actually give 0. And it's obvious that the crafter in this case would hold back a short while in case it's a joke or a mistake. To be fair here, I don't know the exact timing, but I assume a minute or two. From your perspective you seem to think that waiting a minute while trying to clarify the situation is "extorting". For me this is a natural response to getting backstabbed and trying to get an understanding. The "buyer" then decides to leave and giving the crafter the option to handle it. We do not know what would have happened if the "buyer" stayed and remained adamant that they are being the jerk that they are.

You also keep talking down the GM, however the rules that you refer to also says:
Disclaimer
Please note that this list may not cover all types of behavior. We reserve the right to modify, update, or adjust this document at any time. The GM team may take different actions than those specified in these terms of use, as they are entrusted to use their discretion in unique situations.
Now this is the last piece of poetry I will do in this thread, thanks for the discussion.

Where did he broke any rules? Where did he said that he wants as many gols as he wants? He clearly said:

[Party] (Duskii): we didnt discuss a price
[Party] (Duskii): was just gonna take what you tip
[Party] (Duskii: I usually charge 30-40g
[Party] [Duskil]: up to you

that doesn't mean he wants as many gold as possible. "up to you" means "give me as much gold as you think is enough".

Sheryl also wrote "I am not in the mood for this, do what you feel is right with it". So crafter did exactly as instructed.

Again, the timeline is:
1. No agreement on the price
2. Craft happened
3. Now they start clarifying on the expectations
4. Sheryl leaves, says "do what u want with it"
5. Crafter doesn't sell it on AH or anything but gives him COD that he thinks he deserves, strengthened by Sheryl's claim to do whatever he wants with it

At no point crafter got to point he was holding him as hostage.
buyer gave 0 tip, wich was up to buyer crafter then refused to hand over item and started extorting the buyers property for gold.
buyer gave 0 tip, he then did not refused to hand-over the item but started setting the expectations which both parties failed to set-up prior the craft. Nowhere the hunter said "Sorry mate, I don't have any gold, tip is voluntary, the price was not discussed before hand so I won't give any payment". If the hunter said that and the crafter would still refuse to give him the item THEN it would be holding the item as hostage. But hunter immaturely left the group before this could happen.

It's like you've setup a listing at FaceBook marketplace, failed to put there a price and a guy comes and tells "give it to me for free". What would you do? You'd say "sorry mate, I forgot, the price is XYZ". Correcting a mistake is a normal thing. And that is what the crafter did. So it wasn't refusing to give the item, it was to correct previously not-set expectation.
ehhhh the fuckbook market place story is not a comparison did i alreayd take the other person matterials and then forgot to state i wanted money for my service? because i would hand it over because i failed to state the amount i was suposed to be paid for my work and keeping his property/money is considerd theft

30-40g is not an extortion for Nightfall craft. If he asked for 100 that would be extortion. Dont know what did u expect? To tip him 5g? :D

If 100g is extortion so is 5g, extortion isnt impacted by howmuch u ask.

A mistake is a mistake.. it doesn't matter whether you take the materials up front. You can request a duplicate key, give the locksmith your old key, and if he forgets to tell you the price beforehand, he can still tell you the price afterward. The point is that the seller tried to correct the mistake, the hunter just left before that discussion could happen.

I don't know if you're his friends or what, but you're ignoring the distinction between “he refused to return the item” and “he stated a price after failing to establish one beforehand.” The former never actually happened because the hunter left. Clearly there is no point in discussing this with you further because you will just blindly repeat your version of events that never happened.

The seller didnt correct a mistake, he said clearly any tip, got tip of 0g and started extorting and holding 500g of mats hostage because he failed to set a price beforehand.

zero sympathy for fucking scammer stealing items, this man should be perma banned and gm removed from game. read octowow rules this fall 100% under scamming because price is adjusted after the deal and item withhold. this is extortion/blackmail. u guys can all pretend its not because the buyer was rude. but the seller is a criminal.

How can you adjust something that did not exist before? If they never talked about the price, it doesn't mean it is automatically zero. No rule says that. So it did not exist so they couldn't adjust something that did not exist before hand. The seller tried to fix it and tried to agree on price.

If u dont ask a fee and say any tip is fine 0g is a tip aswell, extorting someone for money while u hold their 500g in mats hostage is blackmailing. Thats intentionally making sure u first get their posesion before negotiating a price wich by definition is extortion, seeing crafter intentionaly crafted the item and put himself in a position he cant gibe back the mats and cancel the deal is not the fault of the buyer eventho giving 0g tip is rude. I qoute the rule seeing u guys clearly didnt read em
"Agreeing to a transaction only to steal the materials or attempt to extort a higher price is considered scamming, and is forbidden on our network."
