The server is incredible and I think the devs are doing a phenomenal job. At the same time the DDOS attacks and WoW forever have drained quite a few players. Therefore, I couldn't agree more with the ideas posted here. I think giving the PvP server its own flavor (and roadmap) will help to convince more people to give it a try and I'm sure the best community will do the rest to make them stay.
That's cool, but the devs have told them multiple times it's not going to happen. It's not some unique server. It's a PVP server. That's it. It doesn't have its own flavor. It isn't unique or different. PVP is what makes it unique. PVP is its flavor.
My opinion is that the PVP server is struggling for many reasons, and there's not much anyone can do about that. People just aren't interested in open world PVP on a private server in 2026. I love PVP, and I'm happily on the PVE server, with faster BG queues than the PVP server. I'm not really interested in having some guy and his friends camp me in the open world. It's not compelling content. I would rather face those people in BGs, where it's a quasi balanced fight. I say quasi balanced because BGs aren't really balanced-- but it's a lot better than a 5v1 as you're trying to get to a raid or harvest some herbs. Here's the thing, most world PVP only occurs when one side has a large advantage. It's generally people getting jumped mid combat. It's generally groups of people fighting solos. It's not compelling content in 2026. People aren't really interested in it anymore. It was the same deal on Turtle. TA always had a significantly lower population and while some of these people here will deceptively highlight TAs highest population ever, the reality is that they were often under 1000 players, even under 500, while Nord and Ambershire had about 10,000 between them. So I have absolutely no idea why a PVP server even opened on Octo when our peak population was only 2500 but there were a lot of people demanding it, and many of those people never actually ended up playing. In my opinion from everything I've seen the PVP community are their own worst enemies. I've seen forum posts from players that quit the PVP server because they were just getting constantly camped by level 60s as they were leveling, that's what the PVP server is.
Oh and, lol, they want cross realm BGs, but they don't want cross faction BGs. Like ok, so, they can't have both, because the PVE server is cross faction PVP. It's cross faction to lower the queue times so people can have fun. The PVP server wants to harm the PVE servers queues by forcing us to not be cross faction so that they can have cross realm BGs... The PVP server isn't interested in actual solutions like cross faction BGs. They voted no for that. They don't want to have fun, they want to be miserable and complain on the forums and drag others down. That's my honest to god opinion.
There's also something about a minority of a community making demands and expecting the rest of the community to make sacrifices for them that just rubs me the wrong way. Like sorry, guys. You can sink or swim on your own. Don't drag us down with you. Don't ruin the BG queues on our server just because y'all refuse to accept cross faction BGs. Solutions were offered, and the PVP community refused them. So yeah, I don't care what they want or demand.
While I do get your point, I think there is nothing wrong with making suggestions (not demands!) on how the population could potentially be increased on the PVP server. The way I see it, the PVP server has players just like you, who love the game as it is and would love to see more people playing it. It would be a dream come true if the PVP server had the same population as the PVE server. Unfortunately, we will never see this day as I agree with you that this kind of "flavor" has become a niche.
Since the devs went through all the trouble to actually set up a PVP server, I would assume (or hope) they are interested in seeing it strife. As it is right now, I'm afraid the PVP server will die rather sooner than later as it has gotten close to impossible to do any group content (PVE included). Therefore, I'm happy for any ideas on how to make the PVP server potentially more appealing.
Honestly speaking, I don't see how anyone here wants to harm the PVE server or the queue times there. Why not simply let PVE players select which BG they want to queue for with or without cross faction? Maybe there are players who want to enjoy faction vs. faction bgs every once in a while on the PVE server as well? That's just an additional option, a new flavor so to speak. Vice versa, people from the PVP realm should also be able to queue for the cross faction games. I bet most will play cross faction, precisely because they want to have the short queue times and want to have fun while not having to sacrifice the option to lay siege to Stormwind or Orgrimmar.
I don't see how this would harm the PVE server in any way. Quite the opposite actually, it might result in even shorter queue times for you + a new flavor in case you ever feel the urge to fight without Paladins or Shamans on your team.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I only remember the option to vote for cross realm BGs ( explicitly without crossfaction) or no cross realm BGs at all. Personally, I wouldn't mind cross faction BGs. That way no one can whine about Paladins or Shamans being too OP as both teams would get them.
