Aren't DDOS attacks supposed to be very expensive for the attackers? If it's Raven they're just losing money at a very fast pace and will be dried up soon enough, but if it's from Microsoft this server is literally doomed.

An actual company isn't going to commit a crime trying to shut down some private server. DDoS attacks are illegal.

I think it's all Ravencraft, It all started with the opening of their server + they are busy with a DDoS attack and not improving their server

Floki gave them an ETA. That ETA was shared with the community. Once we start moving past that ETA then yeah it would be fair for them to start rounding up the pitchforks but yeah it is what it is. Worth noting that there was DDOS protection, but these recent attacks are proper botnets and are pretty damn elaborate considering this is all about a Private WoW server. The resources being used to shut Octo down are pretty immense.

coming over here from Project Ascension as it is closing ive had nothing but a great time i havent been affected much by the DDoS atttacks (i play at weird hours) but i feel like once this is resolved this server is gonna grow like crazy

It's actually growing even during the DDOS. After the first two days of DDOS attacks we had a proper day of uptime and reached our new peak population of 3633 players. Today we've hit another peak of 3817 players even with the DDOS occurring.

You created your account today though, why are you using an alternate account to post on the forums when the forums are already anonymous. I mean come on. It looks a bit weird.

If you're leaving anyway like you said in one of your other posts, why not post from your main account? Astroturfing is a real thing and people have pattern recognition, can't blame them for pointing out an oddity. Edit; This guy actually messaged me in game. He's real.

When we fact check this info about who sponsored ddos, and servers become stable, I suggest to rename the achievement "that who has no life" to smth else, and make a quest chain, with the final quest, that gives explanation what happened in these days and some item or even unworthy title or prefix (on analogy with "dishonored" prefix to player name). We have items with minus attributes, why not remember this situation and set it in stone, but with a negative debuff "smell". Or actuallly giving the character some negative debuff.

So the common theory is that Ravencraft and Capy are connected. Capy is making a lot of money with their more predatory monetization methods. The idea is that Capy wants a EU/NA oriented server, and this is them essentially trying to take out their competition so that they get all the EU/NA donations.

And yeah Microsoft wouldn't stoop to this level, even if Octowow is breaking IP laws, that doesn't allow Microsoft to break the law in response.

The devs have asked us to avoid speculation but the DDOS attacks started within about 24 hours of Raven launching, DDOS attacks are not cheap, especially ones that are at this scale and complexity. There's literally from my understanding only one group that stands to benefit from this.
