If ISP's are blocking octowow now I think im done. This is to much of a hassle to just play a game...with 180 ping and higher if DDoS is happening. I also cannot connect to PvE realm, but I can't be bothered to do the workaround. Im just going to find something I can play seamlessly without the threat of losing all progress. I love turtle, I played it for the past 4 to 5 years, but this is not worth it anymore.

FYI, I am from SEA and able to play Octo without using VPN or modify the hosts file this few day.
It seem it is getting better.

You do not need to install any software to change your DNS server in Windows. You can simply change it in your network settings and use a public DNS provider such as Cloudflare or Google.
For example:
Cloudflare DNS:
* Preferred DNS: 1.1.1.1
* Alternate DNS: 1.0.0.1
Google DNS:
* Preferred DNS: 8.8.8.8
* Alternate DNS: 8.8.4.4
In Windows 11:
1. Open **Settings**.
2. Go to **Network & Internet**.
3. Select your active connection, either **Ethernet** or **Wi-Fi**.
4. Find **DNS server assignment** and click **Edit**.
5. Change it from **Automatic (DHCP)** to **Manual**.
6. Enable **IPv4**.
7. Enter the preferred and alternate DNS addresses you want to use.
8. Click **Save**.
This is generally safe and does not modify or damage your internet connection. You are simply choosing which DNS server your computer uses to translate website names such as `example.com` into IP addresses.
If you experience any problems, you can change the setting back to **Automatic (DHCP)** at any time.
Using Cloudflare or Google DNS can also sometimes solve problems where an ISP's DNS service is incorrectly blocking a website, failing to resolve a domain, or returning outdated DNS information.
After changing DNS, you can optionally open Command Prompt and run:
`ipconfig /flushdns`
This clears Windows' existing DNS cache so the new DNS settings are used immediately.
No VPN, third-party program, or other software is required.

For those who cant connect to normal server:
1)Open Notepad as admin (right click it and run as admin)
2) Open file C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts (check *.* to see all files)
3) At the end of a file add:
92.114.107.47 hc.octowow.st
185.165.170.59 normal.octowow.st
92.114.107.48 pvp.octowow.st
4) Save a file
5) Open cmd as admin
6) Type ipconfig /flushdns
7) Restart Launcher
Thanks for this it worked on my PC! if anyone knows the equivalent linux workaround, i would love to play on my steam deck
The equivalent you want on Linux is
/etc/hosts
You open it with
sudo using nano or whatever text editor, and add those lines after whatever is already there.
Will it work, however, is yet another story, for I can't ping none of those IP regardless.
Yea didn't work on my deck. With and without VPN they won't connect. Works fine on my Windows PC tho which is weird
