I would rather have Undead Paladins and Dwarf Shamans with no cross-faction grouping than what we have now.
I'm SO glad, you are not in a developer team :P
You can't claim that Undead Paladins and Dwarf Shamans are a "miss" and then argue that the Alliance and Horde are besties who throw parties with each other. At least the middle ground I proposed would keep most Paladins in Alliance groups and most Shamans in Horde groups.
You DO have a choice. I am not a fan of cross-faction content too, this is why I play on PVP server which is not allowing for that. I believe that there should be PVE server without cross faction enabled. But acting that it's the only option this server offers is false.

Additionally PVP server is perfectly split to 50/50 % according to site's own census. The only problem is the realm population who Is getting closer to 500 people, but I am not even max level and I already h ad lots of great interactions with people. I know some characters/ players and makes your reputation as a player really shine through.

As for Forever stuff.

I'm also against undead paladins. I know about Sir Zillek but that was his appeal - he was exception, not a rule. Forsaken are people consumed by rot and darkness, because light literally abandoned them. I just don't see Undie using all this holy magic, and for it to not burn himself.

Dwarf shamans are less of an issue because Wildhammer clan. But I'm still not a fan of it.

And the assborne are really killing it for me. Let me repeat, elves ruined the Horde. They made this faction unrecognisable. And Vanilla/ classic was a wonderful opportunity to get away from them, their drama, and their overwhelming numbers. It really pisses me off to see Blizzard in their infinite wisdom to look at classic Horde and think again on "How can she shove in the elves again?". I can't stand high/blood/void/assborne elves. I don't see any appeal in bland high elves, and even more I hate them among the classic Horde, they don't fit there even more than forsaken does. And then prancing around with druid and shaman class to add insult to injury.

It reads exactly like that:

"Hey you don't want to play a tauren as a druid? Here is your pretty elf for that.
Hey you want to play a shaman, and not be 'ugly' tauren, orc or troll? Heck you can be even blue like troll, and not look like them!

Pick Our special OC snowflake race so you can play as Horde but not exactly as Horde. "

And the worst thing is that they're not a kill on-sight. It would be bearable if one side had them, but no. Both gets to get them. Even on character section screen they look so out of place.

And let me guess - OG races will not get the new customization options, they will be stuck with what they had before, eventually with the stuff that was added to retail, and that's it. I'm willing to bet I won't get an option to get Forest troll skin, and get Revantusk integrated they way Turtle did.

This is pretty much what I would surmise about the state of what its going to be. Even if it was made with some sort of passion its going to be made for people who play the current state of WoW to begin with. I dont see it ever having been something Turtle or Octo fans would want. :o

Precisely. Totally compromises the faction flavor. This is exactly the sort of problem with Retail that made people want Classic+ to begin with.

Shammy for horde and undead paladins? Miss.
Skyborne :D new race? (Who the fuck brought up this idea even?!) Miss.
New dungeons? Not even close to what we've seen here on turtle. Miss.
I feel the same on Alliance shamans and Horde paladins. I'm not totally unsympathetic, I know OG Blizzard eventually gave up on this as well because they got tired of trying to balance the factions. Obviously I don't know what the rationale in the dev room is, but to me it feels like they're compromising faction identity and sacrificing RPG elements to pander to the fans. The racial fantasy is a huge part of what sells the setting, and the whole appeal of Classic+ is that it's a fresh start that's going to be faithful to how things were. That they aren't interested in trying to preserve that is a bad sign for the entire premise right out of the gate, but it's more or less what I expected tbh.
You're simping for a server that has cross faction grouping. I don't know why you're upset about Blizzard doing Horde Paladins and Alliance Shamans.

Gotta say, I don't feel as passionate about elves and the horde as some of you guys. But I do get it and somewhat agree.
I like elves, I almost exclusively play them. But I play alliance 99.9% of the time. And yes, when I do sometimes make a horde alt to play with a friend or something, it almost always ends up being a blood elf because that's the only non-ugly race which I can tolerate.

I'm not sure how many people share that same opinion on horde/elves (I feel like really not that many), but yea if it came down to that I'd agree with you.

But again, this is one of the smallest problems with Forever. It just (for now) seems like a bad copy of Turtle. And what's even worse is (as someone said) I doubt that they'll ever make it good. They will never add some gritty or risky/edgy content. It will always be LGBT-coated, and very safe.

Well of course elves in the Horde is the problem. Massive one. Because it attracts people who never appreciated Horde for what it is. People who don't get the charm of Zug-Zugs, Chill of Taz'Dingo's and clumsy goofyness of Moo Moos.

And you OP is the prime example of it. "If I play the Horde then I always pick elf". You were part of the problem man. And on retail I kept on hearing from elf players how the rest of the Horde is the problem, how their aesthetics are the problem, how the rest of the Horde is ugly. They're not ugly, They're cool. You get a Hulks, Minotaurs, and jungle devils. But I'll tell you that to me it's the elf players who were always the ugliest. Disparaging majority of the faction. It's not the Horde that is the problem, it's the elves. They're the odd ones, and they're attracting the wrong people. This is how Horde became the elf faction, something completely different.

And look how it progressed onwards. The softening you spoke off. Look at retail. You see elves being pestered all the time The big poste rfor War Within was showing one elf versus other. Alleria versus Xalathath. What are we doing man? Is this what Warcraft devolved into? Instead of making other races shine too, we had OG races completely forgotten, while Pet characters are taking all the attention they can get. This is what made me resent them so much.

Even the presentation of the assborne is off, the female smiling, talking about "home" and "heart" softspoken, gentle. If these are supposed to be the high elves, then they completely missed the mark. High elves in the lore are nasty self-centered, elitist douchebags. They're not Tolkienesque elves. If there is something that truly is defining this breed of elf is the entitlement. And I bet they will be portrayed as gentle, whimsical teehee elves that are joining Horde and Alliance for funzies.

This Project is doomed before it even launched. I'm sure it will make money and will be popular for a while. But the issues that were prominent in retail are applied here, and it will affect the project in the long run.

One day people will realise, it's not Classic+, it's Retail- .

THe thing is that Turtle did it as a way of doing RP stuff, as well as allow people to group. ORIGINALLY you even needed to actually OPT IN to allow Xfaction grouping via an NPC In either Org and SW and obtain a item that let you speak and group Xfaction.

The other half is lore wise, the two factions aren't in a war. WoW's events are a bit after the third war (WC3). It's more a cold war setting with minor skirmishes. Nothing stops you from not attacking the other side, just the way to see it is there isn't an active war and there are existing threats that both factions need to deal with, making joint operations plausible.

You don't have to like the system, but there are lore justifications for it as well as Turtle's own design idea behind it.

In terms of Horde Paladins, Undead are a weird choice. It's whatever. Dwarf Shamans are a given because WIldhammer clan.

Really you guys sound so bitter...
Forever looks awesome. Sure they race choice is bad. But you dont have to buy it. 30 bucks for it is a weird move, but i understand it. Would you rather they include wow tokens or level boosts? (They already said wont be in there) They have to monetize it somehow, and imho is this a great way to do it without watering down the gameplay! Dont like the new race? Dont buy it, and continue playing.

Forsaken Paladin is also a weird choice, but who cares? If they make the narrative fit, why not. Furthermore as stated a few times by other posters. We on turtle/octo play together with horde/alliance which is way worse. I, and many, really prefer little bit less faction imbalance with shaman and paladin, but still having the devide and not let alli and horde play together. Gives a better rivalry feeling! The rivalry feeling here is completely gone!

The rest, 60 forever, horizontal progression, A TON of new stuff for the leveling phase, improved professions, 1000 new quests, 600 new recipes, new dungeons/raids, awesome class reworks (dug into survival spec and dang looks awesome!!) are all big wins in my book.

The graphic overhault looks insane!!

They did SO MUCH that people asked for and wanted. Sure they copied a ton from turtle, epoch and other private servers, but thats what blizzard was alway known for. Take ideas, and make a great version of them.

I hate Blizzard like the next guy, but really, take a W and just be happy ffs.

Also this is not really "Classic". They never said so.Classic+ is right here for you to play on Octo and other PServers.
But what they have created looks incredibly promising! This is the best thing they revealed since a decade!

Wow NEVER!!!
Just made me more excited about Octo and Ember.
Blizzard has now permanently shat on any semblence of wardenship they still had over the vanilla universe.
Our masked heroes are the true keepers of Warcraft, and i salute them for it.
Oh how i'll miss the players who will leave us in order to go play a GLAADborn elf
