Forever looks awesome. Sure they race choice is bad. But you dont have to buy it. 30 bucks for it is a weird move, but i understand it. Would you rather they include wow tokens or level boosts? (They already said wont be in there) They have to monetize it somehow, and imho is this a great way to do it without watering down the gameplay! Dont like the new race? Don't buy it, and continue playing.
It's not about not playing/ buying race. It's the fact that this race exists at all. It just shows fundamental misunderstanding of appeal of the classic. Classic Wow was about clear Faction identity, and they immediately dilute it with this addition, a race without faction commitment, a race without a real legacy because it was literally pulled out of ass. They stand out, and look completely alien next to both Horde and Alliance. It was unnecessary addition, and should be by any means removed. Their presence alone will ruin the immersion, especially on the Horde side. Because you know they don't belong here. They shouldn't be here.

Fabianku wrote: Tue Sep 15, 2026 4:43 pmForsaken Paladin is also a weird choice, but who cares? If they make the narrative fit, why not.
Watch the point above. If it's about the clear identity of playable race then forsaken paladins ruin that identity, because Forsaken were ABANDONED by the Light. They're Undead, they are light forsaken creatures. Consumed by spite, thirst for vengeance, who are cruel, and believe that ends justify the means, who are working on plague that would eradicate both the scourge and the living. Paladin goes strictly against their entire theme.

We on turtle/octo play together with horde/alliance which is way worse.

Which is only an issue if you play on PVE Server. On PvP it is not.

I, and many, really prefer little bit less faction imbalance with shaman and paladin, but still having the devide
Fabianku wrote: Tue Sep 15, 2026 4:43 pmThe rest, 60 forever, horizontal progression, A TON of new stuff for the leveling phase, improved professions, 1000 new quests, 600 new recipes, new dungeons/raids, awesome class reworks (dug into survival spec and dang looks awesome!!) are all big wins in my book.
Which is something that Turtle has provided. And did a great job on extra content. With the new one I see already red flags such as Dalaran appearing as if it wasn't destroyed at all. It was the same issue with retail. The complete disregard for consequences. The Disneyfication, the asspulling stuff. It shows the same pattern of mistakes that retail does.
Fabianku wrote: Tue Sep 15, 2026 4:43 pmThe graphic overhault looks insane!!
It looks ok, but graphics alone don't make a good game.
They did SO MUCH that people asked for and wanted. Sure they copied a ton from turtle, epoch and other private servers, but thats what blizzard was alway known for. Take ideas, and make a great version of them.
They did inferior copy of Turtle. At least from the things they announced. Turtle was very rigid when it comes to new stuff they were implementing. I'm not saying they did everything flawlessly, but they kept the tone right. And I was very impressed with many callouts, references to the source, and expanding the quests that are complimenting the zone/ the setting. It's hard to say if Blizzard will do it as good. I'll be happy to be proven wrong, but assbrone are already proof to the contrary.
I hate Blizzard like the next guy, but really, take a W and just be happy ffs.
The game isn't even out yet. What are you talking about? And I am happy, I am happy that Octo resurrected Turtle. And I intend to play here. I'll check on Forever, but through videos and reviews, I'm not paying Blizzard.
Fabianku wrote: Tue Sep 15, 2026 4:43 pm Also this is not really "Classic". They never said so.Classic+ is right here for you to play on Octo and other PServers.
But what they have created looks incredibly promising! This is the best thing they revealed since a decade!
The thing is that Blizzard shut down Turtle to give us this turd. It's thanks to Octo that all this hard work didn't go in vain. And yes it isn't Classic+, It's Retail -. But I do want to be wrong about the content, I want for them to deliver at least once, but there are lots of red flags appearing before this game is even out yet. And I'm sure they will make money off of it, on the assborne, and that the game will be popular, the game do have lots of nice stuff announced, but announcement and delivery are also two different things. But the question is - will the approach/ philosophy that led to retail downfall be applied in the WoW Forever?

I think that yes, because the same people that worked on retail, work here. I am not trusting this project because I got burned out too many times, to give benefit of the doubt. I'll believe it when I see it.

I don't understand why Blizzard created these blue djinns; they might as well have made elephant-people—if you know what I mean.

To me it looks trash.

It's disney wow basically. It's got the new character models from modern wow which look like.. less edgy less mature. More just fluffy and soft lines like it's for some kid's animation. Skyelves are so out of touch. They are adding tonnes of stuff to the leveling phase of the game but then making it easier to level past all of it without getting the chance to experience any of it at the right level range. Which is already an issue in vanilla WoW where I find my self purposefully avoiding xp so I dont level up too fast before aquiring a new item I want to enjoy at it's designated level.

The servers system is likely gonna make the game feel hollow. Even low pop private servers can feel more populated than most other classic servers except for the full one due to the fact private servers dont have layers. I remember classic felt so empty it was sad. I would walk into an inn, think to my self how many people are stood here right now that I cant see? And it made me feel kinda sad and isolated. I would walk around STV looking for fights at 29 and find no one.

In my opinion it's just another self destructive step the out of touch decision makers are doing in the long story of Activision blizzard. They think they can run every game like it's call of duty. They think because some slop like mcdonalds and FiFA are super popular it's because it is slop and not other factors so they make slop and wonder why the fine diners don't like the slop.

You're simping for a server that has cross faction grouping. I don't know why you're upset about Blizzard doing Horde Paladins and Alliance Shamans.
You dont have to play on the pve server... that comment is more of a self dis on your intelligence.

And you OP is the prime example of it. "If I play the Horde then I always pick elf". You were part of the problem man. And on retail I kept on hearing from elf players how the rest of the Horde is the problem, how their aesthetics are the problem, how the rest of the Horde is ugly. They're not ugly, They're cool. You get a Hulks, Minotaurs, and jungle devils. But I'll tell you that to me it's the elf players who were always the ugliest. Disparaging majority of the faction. It's not the Horde that is the problem, it's the elves. They're the odd ones, and they're attracting the wrong people. This is how Horde became the elf faction, something completely different.

And look how it progressed onwards. The softening you spoke off. Look at retail. You see elves being pestered all the time The big poste rfor War Within was showing one elf versus other. Alleria versus Xalathath. What are we doing man? Is this what Warcraft devolved into? Instead of making other races shine too, we had OG races completely forgotten, while Pet characters are taking all the attention they can get. This is what made me resent them so much.

Even the presentation of the assborne is off, the female smiling, talking about "home" and "heart" softspoken, gentle. If these are supposed to be the high elves, then they completely missed the mark. High elves in the lore are nasty self-centered, elitist douchebags. They're not Tolkienesque elves. If there is something that truly is defining this breed of elf is the entitlement. And I bet they will be portrayed as gentle, whimsical teehee elves that are joining Horde and Alliance for funzies.

This Project is doomed before it even launched. I'm sure it will make money and will be popular for a while. But the issues that were prominent in retail are applied here, and it will affect the project in the long run.

One day people will realise, it's not Classic+, it's Retail- .
Yeah skyelves are so out of touch. It feels so immature and childish on blizzard's part to refuse to put highelves as an alliance only race into the game despite it being something they should have done for a LONG time. It's such a no brainer. TurtleWoW wasn't even the first server to do this, it was pretty common in modded WotLK RP servers.

It's also telling of how out of touch with the vibe WoW Forever is going to be.

Another update I saw was addon restriction, in the WoW Diary the Development book by John Staats said that LUA editing and addons was intrinsic to WoW's early culture and play style. :?

WoW's API has been more nad more restrictive with each iteration. there's enough room in vanilla Macros to automate playing the game more or less, that should tell you how much freedom you have with the game

Yes Blizzard wasn't exactly subtle about real origin of that race. Which is again DnD franchise. And they fumbled pretty hard on this one.

I'm not gonna get into an argument about this, but attacking me is wild. I even agree with you in practice, I don't like these blue elves, and I don't think any elves should be in the horde (neither blood elves or blue elves or those nightborne from legion or any other). But for a different reason, it's because elves are civilized and horde are the opposite of that.
However if most of the horde players are saying that they want a non ugly class then that's a different thing, and completely not something that you can blame me for.
As for the name, I personally would rather call it Turtle-, I don't see anything from retail in there yet. But I'm sure over time it will get more like retail. Of that I am certain.
