DDoS Updates

Hey everyone,

Just a quick update regarding the ongoing authentication and connection issues.

Since yesterday, October 8, I've been able to connect to N’Zoth consistently and without any issues after updating my local HOSTS configuration with different server IP addresses.

My realmlist remains unchanged:

SET realmList "play.octowow.st"

So far, the connection has remained stable on my end.

For obvious security reasons, I'd rather not publish the working IP addresses publicly while the DDoS situation is ongoing.

However, I'm happy to share the technical details privately with the OctoWoW administrators if needed, so they can investigate or verify the configuration.

Hopefully this information can help identify what's causing the connection issues for some players.

I was having trouble connecting today, I downloaded the launcher and they now have a "Priority login" where you log in through the launcher, it sends you to their website and after you log in, if you open the game using the launcher you log in without problems. Just in case people using octoupdater or the torrent or still trying to open wow using VanillaFixes hasn't realised about this new feature.

Once I got priority login, I've been successful at connecting over the past couple days without VPN. Game is working great for me.

And yeah, just lost ANOTHER character due to ANOTHER DC, and being unable to login again...
This is starting to get really frustrating

..because never connect to the internet, at all, ever, without a vpn?
we live in a worldwide dragnet surveillance state my guy,
& i'm sure not turning it off just for a slightly more stable connection to a private wow server.

The server had a reset a couple of days ago and I haven't been able to log back in since. I'm on linux, tried lots of the fixes recommended but nothing really helps. not sure if my ip address has been blocked or what. have no idea what's going on with this. If possible please put me on whitelist or something to help. Seems lots of other people are logging on okay.

This solution should fix the issue. just follow the "Install" steps (which is essentially adding a OctoLogin.dll mod):
