Spirit Tap buff regarding non-boars with Boaring Adventure challenge

I have a question, if you're doing the Boaring Adventure challenge but you decide to do some questing for gear, does Spirit Tap only proc for boar mobs, or can it still proc against non-boars those experience is disabled?
