Give Shamans Polearms

The title is basically the entire suggestion. Shamans are supposed to be THE premiere grug and yet the most grug of weapons, the spear, is absent from our pool of weapons. Polearm was spread to druid to mirror retail which Id argue makes even less sense thematically given the tree huggers love not using even grug technology

As for what we do have over paladins, we have staff, though this is largely not ever used as melee options aside from some notable examples like the fish terminator, and is more for elemental to rob the ten trillionth mage who cant be assed to cast conjure water (deserved)

Because shamans already have access to all the weapons they could ever reasonably want for gameplay reasons. Limiting classes to different weaponclasses only makes sense if there is an actual meaningful distinction of weapons not wieldable by a given class.

Some classes also not being able to wield certain weapons gives the devs options to put cool effects on weapons that might be broken on some classes. Stuns are for instance prominently featured on hammers, where hunters, the class that could be unbelievably frustrating with stuns have no access to.

Giving shamans access to polearms means we have to ensure every single currently existing and potential future polearm in the game doesn't have broken interactions with shamans ability to land 7 hits that count as auto attacks into a target over 1.5 seconds. That means saveguarding with no procs or internal cooldowns.

All that for basically no meaninful gameplay improvements for shamans.

This suggestion is regardless of balance. It's a fantasy/world immersion suggestion. Shaman can and should be balance around this, regardless of their access to Polearm.

What are you on about, when was extreme balance even a concern? We have weapons shamans can already use that have wacky interactions and hell paladins used to have a seal to increase procs. I honestly cant think of a polearm that would have extreme procs on windfury, and hell turtle was built primarily for roleplay

Im asking to give a spear to my grug class in the same vein nelf priests can use bows and maybe some additional early gearing help given your realistic options are only mace/axe as a shaman. Nobody uses polearms except hunters and now druids

Fuck it, just give em polearms. Not like it'll do much in the grand scheme of things. Shamans probably would gimp themselves anyways at end game due to most of the polearms not being all that great if you aren't a druid getting one of Turtle's custom polearms that give feral druid 8 gorillion dps, while in cat form.

"Shamans are OP!".

A tip to the people saying that. Don't engage them in melee. Cant get crit'ed by windfury if they can't bonk you.
