# Rogue class changes
Scope and deduplication: This is a Rogue-only gameplay changeset extracted from the archived forum-63 Turtle WoW Team posts and the topic-15157 class-change history. Developer commentary, discussion replies, and unrelated class changes are omitted. Repeated copies of the October 21 and November 1 updates are consolidated; where an update supersedes an earlier value, the later value is stated. A date is the explicitly labeled update/revision date when the archive provides one; otherwise it is the post date. Later Team-post fixes and item/system changes are included when they materially affect Rogue abilities, poisons, stealth, lockpicking, or Rogue sets.

## 2024-10-12 — Class Changes 2 baseline and specialization redesign
Sources: [Post 102971](https://forum.turtlecraft.gg/viewtopic. ... 71#p102971).
### Baseline
- Combo points no longer vanish when switching targets; they reset when combo points are applied to a new target.
- Rogues can wield one-handed axes.
- Ghostly Strike is baseline, learned at level 20.
- Heightened Senses is baseline, learned at level 30. It no longer reduces the chance to be hit by attacks; its stealth-detection increase equals the fully talented Subtlety version.
- Sinister Strike energy cost is reduced from 45 to 40.
- Added Corrosive Poison. Each strike has a 30% chance to poison the target for X Physical damage over 12 seconds; it stacks to 5 on one target and has 105 charges. Rank 1 (level 56): 100 damage; Rank 2 (level 60/book): 128 damage. Deadly Poison V's handbook also teaches Corrosive Poison II, and characters who already know Deadly Poison V learn Corrosive Poison II retroactively.
- Added Deadly Throw, a finishing move requiring a thrown weapon (35 energy, 30-yard range) that deals thrown-weapon damage plus: 1 point 132–228; 2 points 216–312; 3 points 300–396; 4 points 384–480; 5 points 468–564 damage. This documents the ability introduced in the first class-change batch.
- Sprint and Evasion cooldowns are reduced from 5 minutes to 4 minutes.
- Wound Poison now reduces the effectiveness of all healing by 5% per stack, up to 5 stacks, instead of reducing the target's healing-power attribute. Crafted items above rank 1 are converted to rank 1. While Envenom is active, the reduction is increased by 25%: 6.25% per stack.
- Crippling Poison rank 2 slow is reduced from 70% to 60% (Envenom raises it to 75% while active).
### Assassination
- Remorseless Attacks duration increases from 20 to 40 seconds.
- Ruthlessness proc chance increases from 20/40/60% to 33/66/100%.
- Improved Slice and Dice is renamed Improved Blade Tactics; its text becomes: “Increases the duration of your Slice and Dice and Flourish ability by 15/30/45%.” There is no functional change.
- Throwing Weapon Specialization moves from Combat row 5 to Assassination row 4 and grants Deadly Throw a 50/100% chance to interrupt the target for 3 seconds.
- Vile Poisons and Improved Poisons each require 3 points instead of 5.
- Improved Kidney Shot is removed and replaced by Taste for Blood.
- New Taste for Blood (row 5, 3 points): casting Rupture grants Taste for Blood, increasing damage dealt by 3/6/10% for 6 seconds plus 2 seconds per combo point spent. It applies even if Rupture is resisted or the target is immune.
- New Efficient Poisons (row 5, 3 points): reduces the chance that poisons are resisted by 4/8/12% and gives poison applications a 15/30/45% chance not to consume a charge.
- Vigor moves from row 7 to row 6, requires 2 points instead of 1, and grants a 50/100% chance to gain 5 energy when applying a poison, once every 8 seconds.
- New Envenom capstone (row 7): a finishing move that increases poison application chance and effectiveness by 25%. It costs 25 energy and lasts by combo points: 1 point 12 seconds; 2 points 16; 3 points 20; 4 points 24; 5 points 28. Effectiveness applies to damage poisons, Crippling Poison slow, and Wound Poison healing reduction.

- New Swift Strikes (row 1, 2 points): increases melee attack speed by 1/2%.
- Setup moves from Subtlety row 4 to Combat row 3.

- Mace Specialization is renamed Concussive Blows, moves from row 5 to row 4, and no longer grants mace weapon skill.

- New Surprise Attack capstone (row 5): a surprise strike dealing 120% weapon damage, usable only after the target dodges, awarding 1 combo point (10-second cooldown, 10 energy).
- Sword Specialization is renamed Hack and Slash and expanded to include axes.
- New Blade Rush (row 5, 2 points): reduces Blade Flurry cooldown by 30/60 seconds; Blade Flurry increases attack speed by 5/10% for its duration.

- Serrated Blades moves from row 4 to row 2 and also increases Garrote damage by 10/20/30%, alongside Rupture.
- Initiative proc chance increases from 25/50/75% to 33/66/100%.

- New Smoke Bomb (row 3 keystone): creates an 8-yard-radius cloud for 8 seconds; targets inside have a 20% reduced chance to be hit by attacks and spells (5-minute cooldown, 35 energy).
- Hemorrhage moves from row 5 to row 3, has one rank, grants 2% increased physical damage instead of a flat value, has 50 rather than 30 charges, costs 45 rather than 35 energy, and is normalized by weapon speed.
- New Irritating Agent (row 4, 3 points): targets hit by Blind deal 2/4/6% less damage for 8 seconds. It applies even when the target is poison-immune or Blind is resisted or misses.
- New Blinding Haze (row 4, 3 points): targets hit by Distract have 2/4/6% reduced chance to hit for 5 seconds; it is guaranteed to apply.
- New Dust of Disappearance (row 5 keystone): throw vanishing powder at a friendly player, reducing their threat by 20% and enemy detection of them for 5 seconds; when canceled or expired, their next damaging spell or ability deals 15% more damage (2-minute cooldown, 30-yard range, 25 energy, costs 1 Flash Powder).
- New Bloody Mess (row 5, 2 points): reduces Hemorrhage energy cost by 5/10 and increases its physical-damage bonus by 50/100%.
- Deadliness and Premeditation are removed.
- New Honor Among Thieves (row 6, 2 points): physical critical hits by party members within 20 yards grant 2/5 energy, once every 2 seconds.
- New Tricks of the Trade (row 6, 5 points): opening and finishing moves have a 4/8/12/16/20% per-combo-point chance to increase the party's critical-strike chance by 2% for 10 seconds, stacking to 2. The buff does not stack between Rogues and is refreshed.
- New Exploit Vulnerability capstone (row 7): a marking strike dealing 135% weapon damage, awarding 2 combo points, and increasing party damage to the target by 15% for 6 seconds (3-minute cooldown, 40 energy). The buff does not stack and is refreshed by Preparation or another Rogue.

- Blade Flurry moves from row 5 to row 3 and no longer grants its former 20% baseline attack-speed increase.
- Mace Specialization is renamed Concussive Blows, moves from row 5 to row 4, and no longer grants mace weapon skill.
- Close Quarters Combat is expanded to include maces.

- Improved Ambush moves from row 3 to row 2 and refunds 5/10/15 energy when Ambush does not critically strike.
- Serrated Blades moves from row 4 to row 2 and also increases Garrote damage by 10/20/30%, alongside Rupture.
- Initiative proc chance increases from 25/50/75% to 33/66/100%.
- New Improved Ghostly Strike (row 3, 3 points): Ghostly Strike has a 33/66/100% chance to increase party members' dodge chance by 3% for 7 seconds. The dodge bonus cannot stack through Preparation or multiple Rogues.
