Debate: On the future of tents

Greetings fellow adventurers.

As we were encouraged at the first fireside chat on 05-25-2026 to bring to the forum any discussion / proposals on the future of the server, I'm opening this thread to discuss what might be the most asked question since the server opened.

What should the future of tents be on 1.18.1?

My take on this is: Once the realm grows big enough, tents lose their socializing flavor, and the only reason people use them is because they are stackable, so you can get rested XP much faster.

TWoW tried to correct this by reducing the amount of total rested XP a tent could give, and boost the Inns so they became the main source. But AFAIK a lot of people disliked the TWoW approach to this, along with the total XP cap reduction from 150% total rested XP to 100%.

It's true that this QoL stayed up for so long, that nerfing it was bound to become unpopular, but now that we are "Fresh" on this server, and the beginning of 1.18.1 is upon us.

What are your thoughts on this?

On the tents: Should they stay as they are? Stay as they are and also add Inns? Or keep it as TWoW intended, reduced tent XP and Inn as the main rested XP source?
And on the XP Rested: Should the cap stay at 150%? Or be reduced as TWoW did on 1.18.1?

I completely agree- inns exist for a reason and we need to ensure they're the main vehicle of resting. Of course tents can stay, but should not replace inns as what gives rested XP the quickest.

I also agree. Tents should be a helpful bonus, but inns should have more utilization than what is currently offered.

I don't think the max rested should be dropped to 100%. Maybe that can be what tents stop at, but not rested a a whole, if that's an option

I like to think of it from an adventuring/roleplaying perspective - inns are present in most zones and are where the people rest after a long adventuring session. It makes sense for them to give rested exp at least at the same rate tents do, and probably give more rested than tents (staying in a comfy bed vs. sitting on the ground under a piece of cloth?).

Tents should be exactly what it sounds like - part of your SURVIVAL skills in the large scary world. A last resort, for when you can't get to an inn or a safe place (or you found a great grinding spot and want to continue going).

What I'd like to see:
- keep the rested exp buff to give 100% additional exp from kills (don't nerf it like 1.18.1 did)
- tents give limited amount of rested exp (50% or 75% of a level)
- inns give a full rested exp which should stay at 150% of a level
- keep the rate the same for both (which is around 15 minutes for the full 150% IIRC?)
- don't care if tents stack or not, but I'd rather see them all over the world instead of stack of 3 outside of SW/Org so maybe make them unstackable
