Beta Test Information
The first and most important thing to discuss about our beta test is that any and all progress will be saved between the beta and the full release. Beta access will be early access to the server, essentially a head start. In addition to this, beta test participants will be awarded a custom title at the completion of the beta test.
Account Limits & Stability
During the beta test, we will be limiting the number of accounts created. The limit will slowly increase as we scale up our infrastructure and stress test the servers. Because of the instability that beta testing may bring, there will be a system in place to appeal any Hardcore deaths that feel unfair. Appeals will require video evidence of the bug unless there is sufficient server side evidence of an issue (fire up your OBS). Death appeals can be controversial given the power it bestows, and because of that we are developing a system by which all successful death appeals are made public, with the evidence and details of the decision being posted directly to the OctoWow website.
Patch Roadmap
Our current plans are for the beta test to mostly stay on Turtle's patch 1.17. Our primary development priority is server stability and system side infrastructure development. Once these are in a good place, we will be upgrading the client and server logic to move to Turtle's patch 1.18.1.
Want In Early?
All team members are guaranteed access to the Beta test regardless of account limits, so if you would like to volunteer please see this post https://octowow.st/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2.
