I'm an officer from Deja-vu, french guild on N'zoth server. A few days ago, 5 of our members were temporary banned, for reasons we are unsure of : our GM, Slimoue, Sapik, Shikiwa, Graougraou, and Rescato.

As I said, we are unsure of the reason. A GM had been warning us, few weeks ago, about killing each other between guildies from opposite factions, as it would be considered wintrading. Ever since we have been warned about it, the word has been spread amongst the guild, and I am quite sure people respected the GM's instructions, which was fair. Not everyone was aware of the rule at the time, which has been made very clear now.

The thing is, amongst the guys that were banned, at least one have a pvp count of 0, and I mean 0 death, 0 kill, 0 honor, it's Rescato.

Shikiwa and Graougraou have been duelling one time near Karazhan, were interrupted and ganked by another guild which resulted in them fleeing inside the dungeon, without any death, kill or honor being made. Still they, and others, got mass reported by the members of this guild.

Sapik has been doing a lot of battlegrounds since he got 60, yet his rank is around 6. Slimoue had been keeping his pvp count clear for the last two weeks.

As far as I'm aware of, the warning issued has been respected by these members, and the others, ever since it was issued.

Which makes me wonder, why the bans, then, if they actually respected the warning ?

Our guild had been harassed for weeks by other players, spreading false rumors of us having rank 13 ou 14 members with insane gear, which you know very well is not true. Only one or two of our members exceeds rank 6 because they do battlegrounds, none have been benefiting from anykind of gamebreaking advantage.

As a response to the harassment we have been put through over the past few weeks, some of us did answer in a sarcastic yet polite way on the world chan, unfortunately feeding the hate even more. Could it be the actual reason for the bans ? But if so, why should they be the only ones to get punished ?

Any communication channel with GMs has been closed to us so far. Could we possibly get an explanation ? There should be logs, I might not know everything, but I'm speaking in good faith here : i truely believe the warning we were given has been respected, and none of our members behave in a more reprehensible manner than others on the server.

After some community drama, I'm simply asking for answers here, and perhaps, a different perspective of these bans, which do not seem fair at the time, on the opposite of what the team had been showing us and everyone until now.

I would like to respectfully request a review and clarification regarding the recent sanctions applied to me and several members of my guild.

As the Guild Master, I take responsibility for ensuring that our members understand and follow the rules. Approximately two weeks ago, a few duels took place between guild members, which resulted in a warning being issued to us. As soon as we received that warning, I immediately informed the entire guild that any form of combat, duels, or honor-related activity between guild members was strictly prohibited.

Since that warning was issued, I can state with complete confidence that I have not engaged in any combat against guild members, whether resulting in a win or a loss. I believe combat logs, honor records, or any other relevant data would easily confirm this. To the best of my knowledge, the guild respected the instructions that were given following the warning.

Over the past two weeks, our guild has also been the subject of repeated accusations and rumors in general chat. Various claims were made regarding our ranks, gear progression, and alleged activities. Many of these statements were simply untrue. For example, some players repeatedly claimed that we were already high-ranking PvP players with full PvP gear, when in reality my own character is only around Rank 5 and far from fully geared.

I will openly admit that after reading these accusations day after day, I eventually responded in general chat in a sarcastic and immature manner. I joked about being Rank 14 and fully geared. This was obviously not true and was never intended to be taken seriously. While I regret participating in those exchanges, I do not believe that sarcasm should be interpreted as evidence of misconduct.

What concerns me most is that the sanctions appear difficult to reconcile with both the warning that was previously issued and the actions we took to comply with it. From my perspective, it seems there may be information that I am not aware of, which is why I am seeking clarification rather than making assumptions.

I would also like to raise another concern. While my account was unavailable, I submitted an in-game support ticket using a family member's account. Following that ticket, the account in question received a ban of the exact same duration as mine.

This account belongs to and is actively played by a different person. As such, I would greatly appreciate clarification regarding why this account was sanctioned and how it became associated with the actions being investigated.

At this point, I am not asking for special treatment, nor am I attempting to challenge the authority of the moderation team. I am simply requesting transparency regarding the evidence, reasoning, and process that led to these sanctions. If mistakes were made on our side, we are willing to acknowledge them. However, if the decision was based on inaccurate reports, misunderstandings, or incomplete information, I hope the situation can be reviewed fairly.

Before concluding, I would also like to acknowledge the tremendous amount of work that the team is putting into the server and the beta as a whole. Maintaining, developing, and moderating a project of this scale is undoubtedly a massive undertaking, and I genuinely appreciate the effort and dedication that goes into it.

I also understand that reviewing individual cases and appeals may not always be the highest priority when compared to the many technical and development challenges involved in running a beta environment. My intention is not to add unnecessary pressure, but simply to seek clarification and ensure that our situation has been assessed fairly and accurately.

Our guild has genuinely enjoyed participating in the beta. We have invested a significant amount of time into testing the game, reporting issues, and helping build a positive French-speaking community around the project. We would be grateful for the opportunity to continue doing so.

In response to the initial post by Ashran,

You are correct that Rescato did/does have 0 pvp kills and honor, but they do not have 0 pvp deaths as you can see in these logs.

There was no mass reporting, we only recieved two reports in total about this issue. As you can see in the logs these two did have kills/deaths after the warning. Duels do not kill players and do not award honor so clearly no duel was making these log entries.

Slimoue has not kept his pvp count clear for the last two weeks judging my the logs attached.

I personally have not seen the conversation in world chat about the guild, I have only seen the reports of wintrading and did my own research using the logs I had available. While I do not doubt that there has been some unfounded claims by some in the community (such is the nature of classic wow), I did find enough evidence to warrent the actions taken.

In response to the follow up comment by Slimoux:

First I would like to push back on the framing of these as "Duels" as Duels have a very specific mechanic in the game and it has been clearly established these were not Duels in the proper sense.

While I can empathize with the experience you outline of having public statements made by people not know what they are talking about, I am afraid that has no weight in the decision. When reviewing this case I did not see any world/general chat jokes about being rank 14, I only reviewed the honor logs.

There was a short lived issue of IP bans spreading to other's accounts who also used the same IP. This has been fixed and all affected accounts un-banned, if this is not the case for your family member's accounts please do let us know.

I have no doubt that in this response I may miss one or two of your points/claims so please do follow up with anything that I had missed or if you need more clarification.

First of all, I would like to thank you for taking the time to review my case and provide a detailed response.

However, after reading the logs you shared, I feel they actually support what I have been explaining from the very beginning.

Regarding the warning issued on 24/05, I fully acknowledge that I made a mistake with GEOMASTER. This happened because player names were not being displayed correctly in-game. As soon as I realized the issue, I immediately corrected it by assigning a specific color to guild member names to avoid any further mistakes.

What stands out to me is that, according to the logs, from 25/05 onward—the day after the warning—I did not intentionally kill any guild members. The only entries that remain are a few instances where I received 1 Honor Point, the origin of which I do not understand.

For this reason, I believe it may be worthwhile to investigate further where these 1 or 10 Honor Point gains are coming from.

My understanding is that Honor Points are distributed proportionally based on participation and damage dealt. If that is correct, receiving only 1 Honor Point could indicate that I was grouped or raided with other players who engaged in combat involving guild members, while I did not actively participate myself.

I respectfully ask whether this possibility could be reviewed before reaching a final conclusion regarding my case.

Given that there appears to be a clear distinction between the acknowledged incident on 24/05 and my behavior afterward, I would be grateful if my one-month suspension could be reconsidered.

As I mentioned previously, I am fully willing to accept a complete reset of my character's Honor Rank to Rank 0 if necessary. My goal is simply to continue playing while respecting the server's rules.

Following your response I believe the ban should have been lifted but my account is still not accessible at the moment, can you please confirm or did I misunderstood something ?

Also can you please confirm that this 1 week ban will not put my account at risk in the future as it is supposed to be revoked ? I understand that the flagging for wintrading should remain though.

Btw the few lines about "1 honor" earn by the guildmates seems strange, how is it possible ?

Thank you a lot for answering on this post with these precious logs. Regarding my list, it seems you are considering all my deaths in pvp as a feeding one (these are literally all my deaths in PVP). Only Shikawa appears once as a guilde member and due to a duel issue as mentionned. I assume this death is the reason of the warning I received one or two days before the ban but I think there is still some mistake made here as this one was not intentional and as eventhough it would count, I did respect the warning after.

I hope you can get this message in time to revoke my ban, whatever thank you for your time and work, and good luck on all the content development coming !

As you suggested, I would like some clarification.

The first two points are clear. I'm doing a quest with a guild member who has PvP enabled ,if you group up it activates it for you, and two non-guild members killed me.

And the group of 5 is a death in UBRS, with Ziggzagg dying at the same time according to the logs. Why that counts in PvP, I don't know. (Video if needed, one member of the guild was streaming all evening.) We can also see that an orc, so the same faction as me, gains honor points (choco).

So thank you for clearly showing that I did not do any PvP boosting and therefore the ban is not justified.

I would like to follow up on my message from this morning. After spending several hours reviewing logs, discussing the situation on Discord, and even conducting a YouTube livestream to analyze the events, I noticed several elements that I believe deserve further attention.

Since receiving the warning, I have no longer been receiving PvP rewards. In addition, I found several unusual log entries where certain kills granted little or even no honor at exactly the same timestamp.

To the best of my knowledge, this was during a raid.

Thank you for the time you took to answer in full to our appeal. Sapik is back among us, which is fair of you after checking he was in fact caught in the storm.

Now, after taking some time to check the logs you kindly shared with us, some things does look kinda weird or bugged here.

Slimoue did kill Geomaster by mistake and acknowledged it on the 25th of may. But regarding the amount of honor from the kills afterwise, it's more likely he has been in party and benefiting from a very few amount of honor from the deaths of other players. This is difficult to understand.

Rescato seems to have been undergoing the same issue, to an even more strange level as Choco, which gained honor from his death, is actually also playing Horde.

Graougraou had one unfortunate duel with Shikiwa on 6th of June, but all his death are legit open world or battleground pvp.

Shikiwa did engage in a few unfortunate duels, not much regarding the logs, and probably not intended to mess with the rules in anyway. He also benefited from some party deaths as far as I can tell. The ban seems quite harsch regarding his logs. But it is your decision.

Would it be possible to look a little bit more into it ? Something just does not add up regarding Graou and Rescato.

As for Slimoue, perhaps 1 month ban is a little bit too harsch ? He mostly got honor from some weird party deaths he wasn't really involved in... And we really need to undergo some changes within the guild structure, which we can't do without our GM. Would you consider reducing his ban to one week ?

At the very least, the logs let us see what really happened, and I hope, no matter the decision you take investigating further or not, this will let the whole matter be at peace for good. Thank you for that, Kestrel.

Thank you all again for your input and helpful context. With this new information I was able to confirm through non PvP logs that some of these kills/honor events occurred in scenarios that should not be giving honor and was likely not intentional on your part.

It appears there is an issue either with our honor logging system, or the honor distribution system. Either way this is something we need to look into (and of course keep in mind for any future honor trading claims). You should find all of your bans now lifted. We appreciate your patience while we work through all of this together.
