New transmog source for clothies

Priests, mages and warlocks have very few transmog options, especially if you compare them to plate and mail wearing classes.

My suggestion is to allow players to add any item from the inventory to their transmog collection by consuming that item. Yes, even if they can’t equip it. It will allow for more creative freedom and plain old fun. Transmog is one of the most fun aspects of the game. It’s just unfair that clothies are locked behind 3 nice looking robes that every other person is wearing. Wanting to look unique and not like other people is a big drive, I’m sure, not just for me.

It can be done, for example, via a special item you can purchase from fashionista at a very steep price (in case you wanted another gold sink). I guess it could work like a disenchanting spell, interface-wise, but I’m not that sure about the dev side of things.

I don’t, in the slightest, agree that it would be immersion-breaking because stormwind was already full of paladin/warriors in dresses or birthday suits. And a battle mage or a cleric are existing and common enough archetypes in fantasy games, so I don’t see why a priest, mage, or a warlock shouldn’t be able to look like one.

Kestrel, can we please not be excluded from having fun with transmog because our class can only equip one type of armor?

I dont like this idea. How the F you going to tell anyone apart in raids or pvp? You might dive in on a mage only to realize its a full plate warrior. OR vice versa, Please stop spamming this link in world chat

Hi! Thank you for your response! It means a lot and draws attention to the discussion.

The existing transmog system already completely eliminates equipment as a sign of what class or gear level you are. That's why since the beginning of it being introduced, it should have been removed from battlegrounds just like the turtle devs removed illusions, don't you agree?

Vice versa, what do you mean? Paladins CAN and DO transmog into cloth pieces all the time, were you not aware of that? How is it different from a clothie tmogging into a mail/plate item? Why should it be one-sided?

First, I don't think PVP considerations should matter. Judging from how many people have PVP ranks when walking around SW/OG, 90% of players aren't PVPing, and I'm a bit sick of the argument that 90% of players can't have nice things because it doesn't fit the other 10%.

Second, I don't think tmogging into "better" armor is a good idea. Heavier armor restricts your movement. If you're used to wearing it, it's easy to wear cloth, but if you wear cloth all the time, you just won't be able to move comfortably in stiff leather or bulky metal gear. So there's actually some roleplay reason behind it not working that way.

If such a feature would be implemented, I honestly don't like the idea of "clothies need to pay to tmog to plate but not the other way round". It should be symmetrical. If anything, make a high level tailoring recipe "imitate apparel" that allows tailors to make runecloth items that look like some other armor (which would be a tailoring component, but I don't know if that's technically possible). This would make tailoring a bit more useful, as right now it's mostly used for bags and mooncloth CDs.

Hi, Ally, thank you for your response!

I had basically the same idea back on Turtle Wow and I posted it on the forums. My idea was an addition to the tailoring profession and basically being able to add looks to people's collection based on any item the tailor can wear. I didnt get any attention, so I kind of gave it up. I would love this as an addition to tailoring, however. I think it's extremely fitting. My other concern was that it would be difficult to implement as probably devs would have to create an illusion adding item for each existing armor piece, so I thought it would take too much dev efforts, compared to my current idea. But I would love to hear devs' feedback. Your idea is def more fitting RP-wise. My new idea, that I explained in this post seemed more realistic and less demanding on the dev resources basically, but I would love it added in any way.

At the very least some plate gear that's very skimpy would be very nice for clothies. The Vanguard & Lofty sets are just so good that everyone should be able to wear them.
