I never liked the idea of Tauren Priests either...they had an interesting faction aesthetic that didn't have cloth spellcasters. Blizzard even took this into account and gave Tauren leatherworkers the pattern to make leather bags early on to make up for the lack of tailors that would be rolled in Mulgore, which is a pretty nice touch. However, since OctoWoW is a "Mysteries of Azeroth" server, it would be a little contentious to pick and choose which Turtle content to keep or remove.
I'd say, whether we like it or not, the genie is out of the bottle on this one already. It isnt an offensively bad combo the way something like Paladins on Horde would be.

I'd say now is the only time, if ever, to intervene with such changes. Tauren Priest is a bad change. It doesn't suit the Tauren at all. Aesthetically it is whack, especially as Tauren are (as you said) predominately leatherworkers culturally because they are nomads and live off of the beasts of nature. Narratively it doesn't make a lick of sense because the Tauren are neither Light users nor Shadow users (at least until the Cata Retcon).
Priest is already a class which has a big problem with how it clashes with all the different races who have access to it but coming at the cost of a race's visual and narrative identity to this extent is lame.

Instead of asking to remove a class combo that is already in the game (It will never happen)
Ask the Devs to rework the flair and aesthetic of a Tauren Priest. Functionally it has to be the same class, but that is no reason the spells have to share the same name or even look the same
Move away from the LIGHT completely and focus on Tribal spiritually for the spells
I would honestly say the same with trolls. Their priest should be a voodoo priest, not holy light.

I agree with Kate. Personally I love that Tauren Priest is an option, but if the argument is over flavor and lore, then it's more fitting to adapt the option to a more acceptable theme than to remove an existing option that some people are currently playing.

Surely the point of a beta is to have the freedom to make such changes.
Priest is already the most badly represented class in the game. It homogenises all divine magics into the Holy Light. Priest class weapons and sets are and even across live have mostly been based in the Christian symbolism of the Holy Light. Tauren as a race already have two different religious classes (Shaman/Druid) which already represent their culture better than the liturgical, Christianised Priest class could possibly do.
Tauren do not need words of power or divine shields, they have the elements and the wilds. Blizzard turning An'she into a stand-in for the Light so Tauren could go around wearing cassocks and swinging around Benediction or stomping about in Judgement gear was already a colossal betrayal of not only the Tauren as a narrative concept but of the cultural inspirations of the Tauren as well.
The Tauren as a race do not need priests. Their aesthetic clashes fundamentally with that of the Priest class. Their religious practices are already covered by their existing classes. Tauren priests were an unnecessary change in Cataclysm which diminished the unique identity of the Tauren then and it's a lame ass change now too.
Classic WoW is defined as much by the things you CANNOT do as it is by that which you CAN and if you are playing a Tauren then you gotta accept the race is culturally limited.

I feel the same, honestly. Tauren in cloth just doesn't fit right for me, personally. As far as I know, it's not even lore accurate. If the majority of players like it, hey, I'm fine with it. But else I wouldn't mind this combination to go, if possible. Maybe give all existing Tauren priests a free race swap?
Back when Twow planned to introduce it, I wanted to see a community poll. But they just introduced it without asking the community, which was a bit unmindful in my eyes.
On a more general note: Please be very careful and mindful when adding new content in the future, to a game that mainly lives of nostalgia. Keep in mind players can choose not to enter the additional dungeons if they don't feel them. What they can not choose is who they see standing in orgrimmar. It can have a big impact on the vibes of the game. Same with the oversized weapons from new content like Windshear Crag (to be clear, I like the dungeon itself. Just the weapon model sizes feel very off.) or Clack'ora. Every change and addition which doesn't go with the original vanilla vibes has a big potential to take away credibility of the game. That's my take at least.

Tauren Priests were part of Turtle, and are in Octo, and have been in Blizzardy WoW since Cataclysm.
It's odd to fixate on one particular cosmetic character selection as being out of place, when it isn't hurting anyone (but taking it away from people would be upsetting to anyone playing it now). And when there's all sorts of goofy things available in the game shoppe, in a goofy game full of other goofy things! Have you seen some of the mounts people have?
In the spirit of friendship, can we not try take away some peoples' existing characters? Or polearms from Druids or whatever else gets focused on next because it doesn't line up with their attachment to a constantly rewritten story? It's a pretty fun game as it is right now!
