He got me in Redridge today I was happy he didn't stay and camp me

Honestly, It wouldn't be Wow if there wasn't a high level horde running around Redridge killing lowbies. That's the way it was 20 years ago and that's the way it will be in 20 years from now. It's not that deep just move on with your day unless he is safe spotting or hard camping it's nothing to worry about

I'm sorry, but "Warmode is a choice" is such a hot take. Even 20 years ago, GMs would step in with griefers like DrFaust. I exclusively play PvP and every server I've been on has prevented behavior by players like him - TurtleWoW did too.
Getting killed in PvP by having Warmode on isn't a big deal. That's to be expected. But, people below level 20 getting repeatedly ganked by a level 60 who actively camps the low level quest hubs and flight masters is not PvP. It's griefing.
I asked a GM about this (Veloran) and their response was basically (I'm paraphrasing) "turn off warmode or stop crying". I wasn't even crying. I just wanted clarification on the rules. Whether or not this server allows that type of game play. Apparently it does.
Veloran told me it's OK to camp lowbies all day as long as they have Warmode turned on. So at one point, I'll make a hunter, name my pet Warmode and just have him sit on aggressive where new level 1 players spawn. Because "Warmode is a choice" and that means you're allowed to be griefed. "You've been killed by Warmode". It's a choice...
My issue is that DrFaust does not have warmode on. He sits without the PVP flag - waits for a warmode lowbie to come by and then turns it on. Then once he can turn it off, he does and then he waits and repeats. If you turn on /pvp then make it have a 1 week cooldown to turn it off. No cherry picking. If you want to act like "pvp happens, deal with it" then put that in.

My main gripe with having warmode along with PvE is that cowards could switch PvP on/off whenever they want and hide from retribution and essentially just be targeting people while from a state of invincibility.
Epoch had a system where a non-warmode player had to do a 15 second cast to enable PvP, and that it would last longer. I agree with that sentiment, and that It should remain more severe as well - 1 day and any PvE player can attack/kill them immediately while only getting the normal 5 minutes of PvP.

Welcome to PvE realms, the land of the Blue Walls
Apart from that, you are talking about GM's 20 years ago
There was NO Warmode 20 years ago
Stop crying, turn off Warmode or just play in the pvp realm

Yup. In your effort to come off as a hard ass, you missed the part where I said I'm not even crying about it. I'm just surprised a wholesome server like Octo is taking the stance that toxic game play is OK.
Toxic behavior is toxic behavior regardless of what mode it's in.
But hey if those are the rules, then those are the rules. I won't be turning off warmode and if toxic gameplay is encouraged for people who have it turned on, then I'll partake too. If that's the kind of server culture you want to promote, then let's do it.

Yes. This.
