On the nature of suggestions

This morning GM Pig commented in world chat that suggestions are mainly considered based on player popularity and support as long as it fits Vanilla and the developers' worldview. I understand that this statement is meant to be "official" so I wanted to comment on it here.

Keeping in mind that we are still in a beta state and that the devs have a lot of work to do beyond considering suggestions in general, I think that this approach is, with all due respect, problematic.

Suggestions should be taken into account regardless of popularity as long as the logic behind them is sound. In fact, specific suggestions from players do not need to be taken literally but can still inspire the developers to implement their own ideas.

I hope the OctoWoW developers take this into consideration. To any other players reading, what do you think about this topic?

Agreed. Though I don't think that GM knew what he was really saying. Octo has already made some brave or controversial decisions without asking if it's popular. Nevertheless, these decisions are needed.

Let's take a rested experience as an example. It's 1.18.1 state wasn't perfect, inns were just too good and still are too good on Octo. By playing on slow & steady now, I realized that I literally don't run out of rested experience during questing because some quests take you to the inns. BTW this is not only my observation, I remember one forum post on Turtle forum claiming the same problem. Especially that I read those quests I don't need to stay AFK in the inns. At least this example concerns slow & steady challenge.
I don't think this is intended and something should be done about it. But change in any way will upset any part of playerbase. So in that case, making popular decision is logically impossible.

So yes, that GM probably didn't know what he was saying or openly lied.
