Addon Presurvation and Protection

One thing to note is that developing or sharing addons brings with it some legal risk given the actions taken against Shagu. With this in mind we strongly encourage any and all addon development to be done on our open source Gitea instance at
https://octowow.st/git/explore/repos.
Websites like Github (owned by Microsoft) have extensive user logs and comply with US Subpoenas. We do not log any IP's or any other sensitive information beyond what you provide when you contribute to our open source Gitea instance. In addition to that it is protected against unjust takedown requests unlike other hosting platforms.

Thank you. I agree on the importance of this and don't think we can stress it enough. Just wanted to add on since I have used Gitea before. Granted the capability is enabled on this Gitea instance, you can very easily migrate or mirror a project from another service like GitHub into a new Gitea repo.
If you aren't sure about having your project hosted in the octowow gitea instance alone, it may even be possible to mirror your own repo(s) from your own/favorite gitea instance. Helps keep things available for everyone and makes our projects even more resilient to potential take-downs. I love how Gitea is set up to allow you to do things like that.
Speaking of Shagu, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to set up mirrors of some of their old archived Github stuff in case those get nuked. I could see it happening, unfortunately.

Thank you for this information. I've now transferred all my addons to this and deleted them from GitHub.

Thank you, I'll be mirroring my repositories here.
