gromandClaude Opus 5 38fd2543b4 app: the same-interior skip must not swallow a zone change
grom's minimap report, found. Walking out through Ironforge's gate tunnel fires
no `ZONE_CHANGED_NEW_AREA`, so nothing tells pfQuest to call
`SetMapToCurrentZone()`, so `GetPlayerMapPosition` keeps projecting onto
Ironforge and every minimap pin sits wherever that lands — until the world map's
`OnShow` calls the verb itself, which is exactly "it fixes itself when I open and
close the map".

The zone updater's same-interior skip (`[0x868608]`, `[0x86860c]`) returned out
of the whole function while the player stayed inside one group of one building.
But the zone it elects on comes from the **terrain leaf**, and that can change
underneath an unbroken group: the gate tunnel spans the boundary, so the leaf
goes 1537 → 809 "Gates of Ironforge", whose zone is Dun Morogh, with the group
never changing. The election never ran, and the cache kept saying Ironforge for
as long as he stood there.

So the skip now covers the naming only: it carries the previous frame's names
forward explicitly and falls through. The texts then compare equal, so the only
thing that can elect is the zone id — which is the case that was being lost, and
nothing else changes. Three tests pin it, including the gate crossing itself and
that a different group of the same building still renames.

Read as a skip of the whole updater the reference would lose the "Dun Morogh"
splash on the way out, which it plainly does not, so this is recorded in the
module doc as a deviation chosen on that evidence rather than one traced out of
the binary. The dedup key is a separate question left open there: the doc claims
`(WMOID, MOGP uniqueID)` and the code has only the group's `WMOAreaTable` key.

Two log lines, because this was invisible from a log twice over: the zone-text
interior claim now prints on change (`sound::interior` prints the *render* claim,
a different ray, and the two disagree exactly at the aprons where it matters),
and an election that happens inside one unbroken group says so.

Measured first, against grom's own addons: `--fire ZONE_CHANGED_NEW_AREA` in the
probe harness has the loaded corpus call `SetMapToCurrentZone` 1× and move the
selection, which is what ruled the addon side out and left the client. `--fire`
is new to the harness for that.

gromandClaude Opus 5 3ebf432ebd harness: ask the whole interface a question, not one addon at a time
`--probe <Name>` loads one addon and asks it things. What it cannot see is an
interaction between two addons, and a real interface is mostly interactions:
the player's chat frame is docked by pfUI, re-anchored by the shipped
`FCF_DockUpdate`, and read by ChatSuey, and no single-addon probe reproduces
any of that.

`--probe-all` is the same read-back against the walk `--together` already does
— the whole folder in one VM, in load order, each `ADDON_LOADED` at its own
position, then one session start — with the VM left standing for `--eval`,
`--tick` and `--mouse` instead of thrown away. The walk itself is now one
function both callers share, so the survey and the probe cannot drift.

Two things the walk was missing, both of which decide what the interface looks
like:

- **Saved variables.** `register_addons` was told where they live and nobody
  read them, so every `--together` run measured a default-config interface.
  pfUI's panel sizes, module enables and font sizes all live there. With
  `--saved C_Thun-Gromgosh` the probe reproduces the player's own geometry to
  the digit — the chat frame's 25.12 px panel gap matches what was measured in
  play, where a default-config VM says 23.62. Loaded before `ADDON_LOADED`, as
  the reference sets them (`0x51f6c0`), because reading config on that event is
  the usual shape; after it is a default-config interface with extra steps.
  Dependencies get theirs too: a library pulled in under its first dependent
  never gets a turn of its own in this walk, where the live client gives every
  enabled addon one.

- **The screen.** `--screen 2560x1440` instead of a hardcoded 1024x768, because
  pfUI's pixel-perfect scaling reads `GetScreenHeight` and a player's interface
  is not laid out at the harness's resolution.

What it answered first time out: the player's short pfUI chat frame does **not**
reproduce offline. With his real saved variables, at his real resolution, with
all 80 addons in one VM, `ChatFrame1` is docked correctly — `TOPLEFT` and
`BOTTOMRIGHT` into `pfChatLeft`, height 129.76 of a 180 panel — so whatever
shortens it live needs state this walk does not have, which is worth knowing
before reading another line of `layout.rs`.

gromandClaude Opus 5 d5ddaa1286 lua: a compiled chunk is kept, so a load parses only what changed
The compile is a UI load's biggest removable cost and the only half of it that can
be kept — running the chunks is what an addon *is*. Measured through the addon
harness's `--together` load of the player's own 91 addons, three passes:

```
no cache   4,788 chunks compiled              3,324 ms
cold       1,592 compiled, 3,196 from cache   1,482 ms
warm           0 compiled, 4,788 from cache     471 ms  (+24 ms of keys)
```

**About 940 ms off every login and every `/reload`**, and the first load after an
addon changes pays only for the files that changed.

`benilla-config/cache/lua/`, one file per chunk, keyed by a hash of the chunk's
own bytes and its name. Both chunk paths go through it — `run_chunk_named` and the
XML loader's own runner, which is how the biggest files in the corpus arrive
(pfQuest's database is 33 MiB of `<Include>`d Lua).

It cannot go wrong quietly. A key is a property of the bytes, so an edited file is
a different entry and a stale one is never asked for; an entry that is truncated,
corrupt or from another Lua build fails `lua_undump`'s header check and the source
is parsed instead, so a bad entry costs the parse it meant to save. The dump keeps
its debug info — `debugstack` is an addon-facing verb and a stripped chunk would
lie about its own lines — which the test asserts by raising from a cached chunk
and demanding its file and line back. The folder is capped at 512 MiB (one load's
worth is 159 MiB) and emptied wholesale when it is over: a cache that needed an
eviction policy would need bookkeeping that costs more than it saves.

The first build of this looked like it worked and saved nothing, because
`ahash::AHasher::default()` is seeded per process: every session hashed the same
file to a different name, found nothing and rewrote the whole cache (4,776 entries,
477 MiB, a steady 1,592 misses a run). Fixed seeds, and the instrument that caught
it — `benilla_ui::script::chunk_cache_line()`, hits and misses with the time each
spent — stays, because "the cache is installed" and "the cache is working" turned
out to be different claims.

Verified: the harness's verdicts over all 91 addons are **identical** with the
cache and with `WOW_LUA_CACHE=0`, the full gate chain is green, and the
`WOW_DATA` failure sets are unchanged (benilla-app 270, benilla-formats 80).

gromandClaude Opus 5 c5911ccd6f verbs: an instrument that charges a load's time to the binding it went into
`WOW_UI_HANDLERS` names the handler and `WOW_UI_TICK` names the tick phase, and
between them they left the question this answers. A reload of the player's
interface spends **4.47 s inside handler bodies**, and single calls in there cost
hundreds of milliseconds — `pfBag:OnHide` 394 ms in ONE call — which is not Lua
arithmetic. A handler's self time includes the engine work it provokes, so that
time is ours: it is inside the verbs the handler called, and nothing charged it to
them.

`WOW_UI_VERBS=1` wraps every global and every widget method at the end of
`UiScript::new` — before FrameXML or any addon runs, so everything it finds is
ours — and times each call. Off, nothing is wrapped and nothing is paid.

It works offline, which matters more than the live case: the addon harness's
`--together` mode loads the player's whole folder into one VM in load order, which
is the closest thing to a login burst that needs no server. The first run over his
91 addons, three passes:

```
[ui-verbs] 519 verbs, 17,966,414 calls, 9,148 ms in all
    4384     6393    685.8 us  pcall            (addon code, nested)
    1498 16071556      0.1 us  type             (5.4M calls a load, Ace's)
    1241     1950    636.2 us  frame:GetWidth   ← 650 calls a load at 0.6 ms each
     548    33093     16.6 us  CreateFrame
     219    37524      5.8 us  fontstring:SetPoint
      95       99    960.3 us  frame:GetHeight
      67      123    545.9 us  frame:GetLeft
      17        3   5628.6 us  frame:GetCenter
```

A geometry read costing 636 µs is the whole finding, and the fix is the next
commit.

gromandClaude Opus 5 81d96af35d Everwood: the HD/OctoWoW line of benilla, imported onto upstream
This checkout had no git history at all, so this one commit carries the whole
of the Everwood work as a single import on top of chairmanpow/benilla-octo's
`main` (706cd71). The two trees have genuinely diverged — each has files the
other does not — so this is a fork point, not a catch-up.

Today's work, which is the reason a baseline exists at all:

- Booth previews no longer cast world shadows (`NO_BOOTH_SHADOW`). Portrait
  characters were entering the sun's shadow cascades, so every skinned-rig
  shadow specialization compiled live mid-frame; the hitch detector logged
  "main thread blocked 1316 ms" beside a `compiled LIVE` warning. This was
  the Fashion/Tmog stutter.
- Per-pane dress-up: each `DressUpModel` pane assembles and stages its own
  tried-on look instead of every pane mirroring the live player.
- Item template cache is append-only JSONL written on the IO pool, replacing
  an 11.6 MB whole-map JSON rewrite on the main thread every 10 s.
- `WOW_SYSTEM_TIMING` rebuilt per-thread: it took 2 mutexes per system enter
  and 4 per exit, costing 15 ms a frame (590 fps -> 60) and corrupting the
  measurements it was taken to produce.
- The visibility-churn sweep moved to its own `WOW_FLASH_CHURN` switch, so a
  frame-cost reading no longer pays 2.7 ms a frame for it.

Local state (`benilla-config/`, `logs/`, `target/`) is excluded by the
existing .gitignore; the account credential it holds is not in this commit.

Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 85980939f5 A crate on top finds its own benilla-config/ through config_dir (#809)
A crate built on benilla through `run_with` has its own `benilla-config/`, but could not ask where it is: `local_state::home` is crate-private. A crate that ships an addon has to write it into that folder's `AddOns/`, where benilla discovers addons and resolves their art and fonts, so without the path it needed a fork.

- `benilla_app::config_dir()` answers `local_state::home()`, asked from `run_with` on, since a dev build resolves it from the launcher's folder set there.
- CONTRIBUTING's "Building on top" says a crate's files and addons go there, and names `run_with` and this folder as the two seams opened for crates alone.
- The example launcher logs its `AddOns/` folder through it, so the example, which clippy and the tests build, is the outside caller that keeps it public.

No 1.12.1 behaviour changes.

Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 6633a11d60 A dev build of a crate on top of benilla finds its install, benilla-config/ and .probe-identity in its own folder, which its build stamp hands in, not in cargo's checkout of benilla (#504)
A dev build finds its project folder, where its `WoW` link, `benilla-config/` and `.probe-identity` live, from its launcher, not from a benilla crate's own `CARGO_MANIFEST_DIR`. For a crate built on top of benilla, where benilla is a git dependency, that manifest dir is cargo's checkout of benilla.

- `benilla_buildstamp::emit()` stamps `BENILLA_PROJECT_DIR`, the launcher's workspace root (the nearest folder up holding `Cargo.lock`), only when the launcher's `dev` feature is on. A player build stamps it empty and carries no source path. The shims pass it in as `BuildId::project_dir`.
- `benilla_formats::project_folder` is the one home for the folder. Each entry point records the stamped folder once, before anything resolves from it. The install's dev rung, the state folder (which keeps its step from a linked worktree to the primary checkout) and the probe identity all read it. With nothing recorded (a test, an example, a tool) it is benilla's checkout, as before, and in a player build it is `None`.
- Live `assets/ui` and the addon corpus stay on benilla's own source.
- The example launcher's header now says a dev build of a crate on top keeps these in its own folder.
- The comment above the stamp's resource names the build banner, the stamp's reader beside the panel footer.

Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 8d31e9e91e A crate on top of benilla adds its own Bevy plugins through benilla_app::run_with, and a client started through it reads extended in its build line (#495)
A crate built on top of benilla now adds its own Bevy plugins through `benilla_app::run_with(build, extend)`: `extend` gets the client fully built, after the game plugins, the asset loaders and the `ExtractSchedule` executor flip, and before the probe fleet, which sees what it adds. `run` is `run_with` with nothing added, so the stock client is unchanged.

- A client started through `run_with` carries `extended` in its build id (`BuildId::summary`), so the startup banner, the crash report and the debug panel's footer all say so, and a report from an extended client reads apart from stock. The entry point sets the flag; a launcher leaves it to `..Default::default()`.
- `crates/benilla-app/examples/extended_launcher.rs` is a launcher with a plugin of its own, compiled by the gates. Its header is the shape a crate of its own copies: the manifest (benilla-app without default features and `dev` forwarded, the workspace's bevy, and the root's `[patch]` and `[profile.dev]`, which cargo reads from the root manifest only), the build script's stamp, and a `Cargo.lock` started from benilla's.
- `tests/launcher_shape.rs` holds that documented manifest to the root `Cargo.toml` and the `benilla` launcher's, so a patch or profile added later cannot leave the documented shape building a client that is not benilla's.
- `docs/CONTRIBUTING.md`: a feature 1.12.1 does not have lives in its own crate on top of benilla, started through `run_with`.

Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 4f8350c9ed String literals and test names in benilla-app carry no record numbers (#368)
The strings pass for `benilla-app`, the last crate: string literals and test names lose the private record numbers and the workspace's words that a comment pass cannot touch.

Fixes #92. Fixes #36.

- **Messages.** About 230 assertion, panic, `expect` and log messages, printed tool labels, and comments inside embedded Lua fixtures drop their record numbers; the eight that named "the director" keep their fact in plain words. Stale claims in a few messages are corrected on the way (a cast-bar step, a font line, the every-shot recompute).
- **Names.** Seven test and helper names that carried a record number or "director" now say what they check. `git grep` found no other use of any of them.
- **Player files.** The key-bindings file's header and `config.toml`'s header each lose a record citation. Neither header is compared when the file is read back: the bindings reader skips every `#` line, and `config.toml`'s header is a TOML comment.
- **Fixtures.** Test fixtures use neutral character, account and frame names.
- **#36.** The quest-material test labels GameObject type 10 GOOBER (in 1.12, 3 is CHEST, 9 TEXT, 10 GOOBER); the code under test was already right, and the comments were fixed with the comment pass.
- **Verification.** With comments stripped and every literal's contents masked, each file is identical to main and keeps its literals' line counts, apart from the renamed functions and one rustfmt reflow. `cargo fmt --check` is clean.

Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 1d1f0a2c03 Comments in benilla-app, the glue screens, harness, settings and the rest: one line of fact each, no history, no record numbers (#365)
Part of #41: the last of five `benilla-app` pieces. This one is everything the others did not cover: the addon harness, the settings registry, the glue screens (login, realm list, character select and create), key bindings, the minimap, nameplates, the loading screen, transports, the performance instruments, the smaller modules, the integration tests, and the UI asset files (`OptionsFrame.xml`, `benilla.toc` and the rest). Their comments are rewritten to the rule in `docs/METHOD.md`, which is what the code does and the reference fact behind it, in a line. 27,351 comment lines become 11,010.

Fixes #33. Fixes #103.

- **The mechanical strip.** The citations that were only a private record number go first, and each edit is shown to be a pure removal.
- **Wrong facts corrected.** The rewrite corrects the comments that stated wrong facts. Among them:
  - The weapon trail's emissive is 0 (`0x70ca30`): the trail is a type-5 render record, so its ambient-only light term is exact.
  - The camera-style dropdown writes "1", "2", "0" (`UIOptionsFrame.lua:525,536,547`); several register-site addresses in the settings table are corrected.
  - The graphics settings are held until `RestartGx`, as in 1.12; `Fonts.xml`'s early load no longer carries a false reason.
  - vmangos sends a player-name invalidation after a rename (`CharacterHandler.cpp:839`), and the cinematic camera's announce packet has an empty handler there (`MiscHandler.cpp:919`).
  - Stock FrameXML and GlueXML line citations are checked against the stock 1.12 files, and vmangos line citations against the pinned revision.
- **Deviation labels.** "Deviation:" now marks only a choice with its recorded reason. Declining to copy a reference defect is stated plainly, and so is an unbuilt behaviour or an untraced one.
- **Verification.** Every file strips to identical code, apart from test literals in `login/`, `death/` and `ui_script/death_tests.rs` that now use placeholder account and character names, and `cargo fmt --check` is clean. Six second readers compared every file old against new, restored the facts the rewrite had dropped, and checked each new citation against the code, the stock files, vmangos and the reference.

A second commit corrects one comment in `benilla-ui` (`unit_is_grey`: the reference's exclusion is players only). A third lowers `ui_script_wall`'s ceiling from 45 to 40: five gameplay files named `UiScript` only in comments the rewrite removed, and the ratchet asks for the number to follow.

Behaviour differences the rewrite surfaced are filed as their own issues (#339 to #353 among them). String literals are untouched; they are #92.

Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 8952d590e6 comments cite the reference by address, not by private note (#30)
Comments that pointed into the maintainer's private reverse-engineering notes (a note by name, a
path, a section or finding id, the analysis's own name for a client function, a process word) now
carry the fact itself, cited by the reference client's address, by vmangos file and line, or as
"the reference". Nobody outside could follow those pointers.

Comment text only, plus the test-assert and log strings that carried the same pointers. No claim
changes: a comment the notes have since corrected keeps its wording here, and correcting it is
separate work.

The two reference generators, `scripts/gen-reference-globals.py` and
`scripts/gen-reference-verb-events.py`, named the private notes' layout to find their inputs. They
now take the input files as arguments (`--capture`, `--framexml`, `--names`, `--extents`,
`--disasm`). Run on the same inputs, both write the committed tables row for row; only the two
header lines that named the old environment variable change.

Checked per file:
- the code is identical: each file with its comments stripped compares equal before and after; a
  changed string literal is compared under a mask that proves only literal text moved and every
  literal kept its line count;
- no client address the old text cited was dropped;
- a second reviewer checked every added address against its derivation;
- a detector for the notes' names, paths, ids, function names and process words finds none left;
- `scripts/gates.sh` is green.

SamandClaude Fable 5.1 3e92b4f015 empty tooltips hide, the map opens on your zone, Questie's arrow lands
- Questie's arrow points at the turn-in, not 100 yards off: the map selection sits on your zone from the moment you enter the world, as the reference's does, so Astrolabe reads the right sheet (2192)
- an area the map has no row for sends the selection to your continent, not the world view; the reference fails its zone lookup and its continent lookup separately
- a tooltip shown with no lines hides itself instead of drawing an empty plate at the last hover's size, as Questie's tracker did on some quests; each fresh hover restores full alpha, so a plate an addon dimmed does not stay dim
- Questie's minimap button turns the quest icons back on: a nil handed to a colour setter stores zero and carries on, as the reference does, where benilla raised and jammed Questie's event queue from login (1973)
- MonkeyDev loads without three red dialogs at login: an unknown frame type in an addon's XML is logged and skipped, as the reference does; only a script creating a frame of a bad type still raises (2191)

- GetNumAddOns and the index form of every AddOn verb walk a title-sorted list that hides the Blizzard addons the server says to hide, and the character-select AddOns list is in title order (2175)
- SetPoint and SetAllPoints raise the reference's own errors for a frame name that does not exist or an omitted relative frame instead of quietly anchoring to the parent, and an explicit nil means the screen root (2176)
- a tooltip owned with ANCHOR_CURSOR follows the mouse, which pfUI's tooltip, xpbar and chat modules, pfQuest's browser and TipBuddy ask for; an omitted or unknown anchor is ANCHOR_LEFT (2176)
- a $parent name handed to CreateFrame, CreateTexture or CreateFontString expands as it does in XML, so FonzAppraiser's thirty dropdowns and pfQuest's search icon get the names they asked for (2176)

- GetDodgeChance, GetParryChance and GetBlockChance answer the numbers the character sheet already had, so the addons that ask for them get a figure instead of a nil (2166)
- with Follow Terrain on, pressing mouse-look no longer jolts the view: the terrain lean folds into the angle you drag and comes back out on release, and smart pivot holds its bias while a server-driven turn runs (2165)
- entering water, the camera's pivot eases down to the model's own swimming height, so the eye no longer sits at a different height for the same zoom (2165)

- a slider with a value step snaps to it: a stepped drag fires once per row instead of once per pixel, a scrollbar cannot rest between two rows, and one wheel notch on the trainer list reaches the bottom (2133)
- setting a step on a live slider moves its value onto the new lattice and runs its handler, which an addon on the real client can count on (2143)
- a button pushed from script releases on the next mouse-up, so Tablet-2.0's rows stop staying pressed forever; a release off the button's rect un-presses it, and a locked state holds (2134)
- the mail body and the GM ticket box scroll as you type past their bottom, and the Use UI Scale checkbox reads a registered setting (2141)
- an engine warning, a call that was accepted and did nothing, reaches the /errors window in grey instead of one terminal line; a text row trimmed mid-character no longer kills the window's repaint (2135, 2138)

SamandClaude Fable 5.1 1783660496 glue chrome in the box, a knockdown holds, and loot closes on a step
- on a 21:9 display the login, select and create chrome lays out on the boxed scene instead of the black bars beside it; at 16:9 nothing moves (B377, 2091)
- a <Model> tile draws only inside its own cell of the shared atlas, so the pet bar's autocast shine no longer bleeds a golden bar onto a bag slot's cooldown (B379, 2093); a slider's first value always fires its handler, so Atlas's options load (2095)
- a knockdown plays out: the reference locks the base animation for Knockdown, LiftOff and Land until the clip ends, and benilla re-picked Stand ten milliseconds in (2096)
- the loot window closes and releases the corpse on your first step, strafe, turn or jump, the reference's movement-start guard; a distance leash shipped first and was a mislabelled census row (2094 → 2097, B381)

SamandClaude Fable 5 3858aaaa6c the bank is the reference's own window, and far sight freezes your body
- the bank window is the reference's own `BankFrame.xml` run off the player's chain — our 890-line copy is deleted whole; putting bags into the bank's bag slots works (the two verbs its buttons are wired to now exist), the purse is a real `SmallMoneyFrameTemplate` splitting 987654321 copper into three coin buttons instead of one string, `BANKFRAME_OPENED` loses the argument the real client never fires, and the bank stops auto-opening your bags while the vendor and mailbox keep doing it; the empty-slot click still plays the bag sound, because the reference's own line plays it on every click the cursor did not consume — named as faithful rather than quietly fixed
- underneath it, the bank's inventory band is a VIEW over the container feed, not a second copy — inventory ids 40..69 had answered nil because the doll array stops at 24, so the stock file swapped in would have drawn an empty bank; the six bank bag slots become real inventory slots (64..=69) fed off the player descriptor, the three bag verbs are carved from the binary (`PutItemInBackpack` IS `PutItemInBag(0xFF)` through a ten-byte thunk, the occupied-by-an-ordinary-item leg auto-stores with no destination slot at all, and the return is the Lua number 1 or nil — the nil being the whole reason a plain left-click opens a bag), and the swap caught `BankButtonIDToInvSlotID`'s bag arm six slots wrong: it took a bag number 1..6 where the reference passes the button's own id, which is the container id
- far sight freezes your own body while the view is out — the fifth conjunct of the movement predicates' shared precondition, joining the health term so the walk, the turn and the follow teardown go down together; both halves are load-bearing: the `IsActivePlayer` half is what keeps a Mind Control victim walking (possession rides the same PLAYER_FARSIGHT field), and the latch half is the RESOLVED engage rather than the raw field — and the camera is untouched, you still look around freely, which is the whole point of the spell
- the reset offer no longer outlives the character that earned it — log out after walking out of the Deadmines and your next character was offered a reset the first one had earned — and the one lockout leg no probe can ever reach (vmangos writes a last-instance map only from raid binds, which the client's handler discards as not-a-party-dungeon) is now covered end to end through the real system, its module doc saying plainly: tested and never observed

SamandClaude Fable 5 6e3a67e039 your corpse answers the mouse, and a cinematic's last holes close
- a corpse is a body you can hover, cursor and click: it enters the same ray pass as units with the winner switched on type at publish (the reference's own shape — one trace over every object), the cursor classifier is transcribed whole (lootable-by-me → the pickup cursor, grayed by range; else the insignia leg behind the learned-skill latch; your own body falls through to the clear), and right-click is "not mounted AND lootable" → CMSG_LOOT; CORPSE_FIELD_FLAGS bit 5 is the PvP insignia flag, not "reclaimable" as an old note had it; the widening also caught that a GameObject anywhere on screen could steal the click from a nearer corpse, and that a left-click on a body cleared your target as if you had clicked ground
- the cinematic sweep closes eleven holes: a shot plays its sequence band's WIDTH, not its end — two shipped fly-bys band away from zero and ran long with their opening frames frozen (the Night Elf intro measured 102333 → 102000 ms); CMSG_NEXT_CINEMATIC_CAMERA announces every shot, the first included — the old "between shots" reading meant it was sent NEVER, since every 1.12 sequence row carries exactly one camera; the ack invariant is stated once (one CMSG_COMPLETE_CINEMATIC per accepted trigger, over-acking tolerated, under-acking never — a dropped ack despawns the world around you until relog); the hardware cursor hides for the shot; and the music cut lands in the frame that starts it — it was one frame late, exactly long enough for a first login's zone fanfare to start under the narration and be stamped as played
- RunBinding exists, and a fly-by stops handing the world its mouse: CinematicFrame's OnKeyDown hands the SCREENSHOT chord back to its binding through RunBinding, a global we never had, so every press during a fly-by raised and took no picture; and the mouse was fully live under a shot — right-drag turned the character, clicks picked targets through the flying camera, both buttons walked the body — so the pointer now reads as over the UI while a shot plays
- AdvanceTime and ReplaceIconTexture are carved off the bytes: AdvanceTime really is a no-op in the reference (its one reachable call is mov eax,1; ret), ReplaceIconTexture is a material swap over a model's type-14 texture slots that stores nothing on the widget, and SetModel(nil) RAISES — the "documented clear" our binding claimed was invented, not read; and the addon roster now says WHOSE package is short when a .toc names files the folder doesn't hold — nine of the corpus's twenty-nine load failures are the addon's own manifest, which the real client also shrugs off ("Couldn't open %s", carry on), so they stop reading as our defects

SamandClaude Fable 5 f3ecb5c968 a cinematic holds your body, and all seven chat windows exist
- a cinematic holds the body while the camera flies: the streaming focus follows the eye — a Tauren's intro opens 1741 yards from the body — so the body's own ground unloaded under it and it fell (z=59.4 to −62 in four seconds, the server yanking it back); it now takes the same hold a teleport takes, released when the focus comes home to a resident tile, and the loading screen stops covering the fly-by, because "the player's ground is missing" is not a load while the eye is deliberately elsewhere; the letterbox measurement prints as an ordinary info line, and scripts/cine.sh plays any one cinematic and prints what the client did to the world while the camera was away
- a cinematic cuts the zone music: the reference asserts exactly what /console EnableMusic 0 asserts, through the same setter — a cut, not a fade, the music pump dead for the duration, resume at +3.000 s — and benilla asserts the runtime flag, never the CVar, or quitting during a 102-second intro would save your music off for good; ambience is deliberately untouched (it has the analogous flag and the cinematic never writes it); the narration has no category at all — its flags route it around every volume slider but not around the Enable Sound Effects gate, so unchecking that silences it — and the listener follows the cinematic camera for the duration
- addons can walk a UI they did not build: GetChildren/GetNumChildren/GetRegions/GetNumRegions land — the basis of the whole reskin genre, and the wall four of the twenty most-installed 1.12 addons died on: pfUI drew nothing before and now paints 495 quads, ShaguDPS 71 → 566, pfQuest 3 → 498 — with the reference's own quirks: the title region is NOT in the list (its creation path never reaches the region linker), hidden regions are returned and counted, oldest first; the Model widget gets its Lua surface (SetModel, SetSequence and siblings, read out of the shipped image, where SetRotation and SetFacing are two names for one slot); and the Minimap carries the nine engine-created Model children no XML declares, built before the frame descent, the ninth being the player arrow Questie indexes as ({Minimap:GetChildren()})[9]
- all seven chat windows come from one template, tabs and scroll buttons included — whether a window is shown has nothing to do with whether its globals resolve, and pfUI reads every piece of that furniture for all seven, unguarded; isDocked only on windows 1 and 2 (the chat-cache's own DOCKED byte), SELECTED_CHAT_FRAME seated beside DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME (the window you last picked vs the one FrameXML prints to), and the four per-window fields ChatFrame_OnLoad seats; two more one-name walls fell — a Button's label answers to its second spelling NormalText, which KLHThreatMeter's column headers die without, and ABANDON_QUEST_WITH_ITEMS is declared because a dialog table is read at load whatever the client later shows, leaving Questie with zero errors of ours — and the addon harness gains --probe/--eval, one addon's VM answering a question in ~5 s instead of a 90 s corpus run

SamandClaude Fable 5 047dd3444e the wheel binds, one AddOns screen, text at the true scale
- SetBinding accepts the mouse wheel — the refusal was ours, not the client's — so wheel-bound action buttons press and release like the real thing
- one addon load law: a single arbiter for "can this addon load, and why not", with the out-of-date version gate live
- one AddOns screen — the character-select list, wearing the authored reference layout: roster dropdown, per-character tri-state checkboxes, force-load; the ESC-menu panel is retired, since 1.12's own menu has no AddOns row
- the glyph atlas follows the window scale, so maximised text stops washing out and a title stops measuring wider than it draws; an unpositioned frame positions nothing, instead of landing at the screen origin

SamandClaude Fable 5 d7f4c59fa8 our API surface is diffed against the client's 19,572 globals
- `--surface` re-runs the comparison against the captured in-world global table on demand, and `--surface-dump` writes our raw side for any tool to join — a one-shot measurement stops drifting
- CreateFrame with an unresolvable template raises exactly as the client does, instead of handing back a bare frame; `inherits=` is one name, matched case-insensitively
- CreateFontString and CreateTexture honour their third argument — 49 corpus call sites were passing an inherit into the void
- the addon-message inbound byte map is corrected (a test had agreed with the wrong constants), and the group-loot roll template publishes under the reference's own name

SamandClaude Fable 5 6eae5e8507 widget identity, a funded purse and a walkable quest log
- GetObjectType and IsObjectType land from the binary's own carve, with the client's exact inheritance answers
- the survey seats money and a quest log — sixteen addons call GetMoney, five walk the quest log, and none of those paths had ever run
- `date("*t")` returns its table form; the missing shape was an infinite loop for any addon walking days backwards
- unit tokens fold case like the client's resolver, and a FontString template carries the font object it inherits through the whole chain

SamandClaude Fable 5 7b6a9136f6 the survey drops its silent caps, and the Region map is the unit
- every ranked list now states what it dropped and `--deep` reads the whole tail — a silent top-16 over 1,946 rows had already produced one wrong "nothing left" conclusion
- the backpack and equipped gear take their seats beside the spellbook, and a rankless spell's rank comes back "" rather than nil
- a FontString answers the full Region method map as one set — a text region's GetParent works — and RaidWarningFrame and PanelTemplates_Tab_OnClick arrive for the addons that name them
- SetRaidTargetIconTexture lands: the half of a raid mark an addon draws with

SamandClaude Fable 5 4edc69e29e case-folded slots, a chat-type table, and a seated spellbook
- GetInventorySlotInfo folds case the way the client does, and gains the twelve bag-slot rows the shipped data really carries
- ChatTypeGroup exists for addons that register their own chat types at file scope — one missing table was taking five addons down
- GetChannelList answers in join order, shaped by the addons that consume it, and the harness's `--why` can now open any demand count
- the survey seats a spellbook, and the shapeshift bar's shelf art exists hidden, both exposing paths an empty fixture could never reach

SamandClaude Fable 5 37998deccf text justification becomes one law across every font table
- the justify verbs had been written three times and drifted three ways; one implementation now serves the region, font-object and message-frame tables, and a cleared axis paints centre, as the client's draw path really does
- MessageFrame and ScrollingMessageFrame gain the ten-verb font block they were missing entirely, so font calls on message frames stop raising
- EnableKeyboard and IsKeyboardEnabled land as real Frame methods — eight addons were dying on their absence
- the harness's METHODS ranking states its own limits instead of reading as a build queue

SamandClaude Fable 5 c504136638 the addon survey seats a populated world, and hidden frames arrive
- the corpus harness now seats a buff, a target and a ticking cooldown instead of an empty world, so "nothing to draw" and "failed to draw" stop sharing a row — and the richer seat immediately exposed two real gaps
- an addon button inheriting our action-button template now works even when it replaces the template's OnLoad: the handlers resolve their regions by name, the way the reference does on every access
- more of the reference's hidden-by-default frames exist by name — ReputationWatchBar, MiniMapBattlefieldFrame, MiniMapMeetingStoneFrame — for the addons that reposition them
- StartSizing lands beside its stop verb, and the sourced bag-anchor code runs against windows we actually build

SamandClaude Fable 5 251daa14c5 addons come alive: Bagnon draws, hovers and clicks
- Lua 5.0's generic-for and nested long strings are restored in a forked VM — 60 corpus addons stopped dying on one deleted opcode
- a day of demand-driven carving takes the 218-addon corpus from 24 addons surviving a session start to 114, with 144 loading without a single error
- Bagnon draws a real bag and answers real gestures — hover tooltip, pickup, use, drag — because our frames wear the reference's names, and the reference's own ContainerFrame.lua runs off the player's install instead of being transcribed
- the physics broad phase leaves: nothing in the client reads a contact, and it was measured at up to 41% of main-thread samples in real sessions

SamandClaude Fable 5 b5bc569156 the addon arc: the AddOns folder opens
- benilla loads real 1.12 addons from Interface/AddOns — TOC, XML and Lua through one loader, with per-addon saved variables, Bindings.xml and the lifecycle events addons expect
- both AddOns screens are in: the character-select list with per-addon enable state, and the ESC menu's in-game list
- the API surface is measured, not guessed — a corpus harness runs hundreds of real 1.12 addons and ranks exactly which globals, templates and verbs they demand
- the Lua dialect is the client's own, read off the binary — 5.0 semantics with the 1.12 additions, and UI source files are bytes, not UTF-8
