gromandClaude Opus 5 0da710810e An EditBox's engine quads answered nil, and ate the trade window's money row
His trade window has no money amounts: one empty box where the gold/silver/
copper row belongs. The cause is four regions that answer the wrong thing.

pfUI skins that row by walking the gold EditBox's regions for the first
Texture whose texture names "MoneyIcons", showing it, and re-anchoring it to
the right of the box — then the silver box hangs off that icon and the copper
box off the silver one (api/ui-widgets.lua:1225, api/api.lua:1693). Its scan
reads a nil GetTexture() as "no name to match against, take this one".

An EditBox's first four regions are the engine's own: the three selection
highlights and the caret, which GetRegions lists ahead of the authored
<Layers> ones. They paint host-side here, so they carried no texture and no
fill and answered nil — and pfUI took the caret for the gold coin. Silver and
copper then anchored off a zero-size region and the whole row collapsed.

The reference builds those four as colour-set textures, not empty ones, so
GetTexture answers them "Solid Texture" — the string is in WoW.exe, and
pfUI's scan does filter that out. They answer it here now. Nothing renders
differently: the host still draws the highlight and caret from sel_start /
sel_end / caret_shown, and the fill stays unset.

The new test runs pfUI's scan itself rather than asserting on our side of it,
because what matters is which region that loop picks.

gromandClaude Opus 5 c315fb4f35 Anisotropic filtering and trilinear apply in the session
The Options row shipped last commit said the setting needed a relaunch.
It does not have to. The reference's "enabled upon restart" is about its
TEXTURES, not its CVars — both register with `flags = 1`, live — because
its sampler state was baked inside each `TextureCreate` (`0x449ae0`) and
it kept no list of live textures. Ours can be re-stamped in place.

Two things make it possible, and neither is new work:

- A governed sampler now wears `POLICY_SAMPLER_LABEL`, written by the one
constructor `TexFilterSetting::descriptor`. That is the `applyGlobal`
split the reference draws, made legible at runtime: terrain, WMO/M2 and
the liquid sheets take the policy; weather sprites, the minimap, glue,
Lua widgets, the sky and decals keep their own mode. All four governed
lanes went through that constructor, so a lane cannot forget the label
and silently opt itself out of every later change.
- Extracting a `RENDER_WORLD`-only `Image` takes its *pixels* and leaves
the asset behind (`take_gpu_data` is an `Option::take` on `image.data`).
So every resident texture's own descriptor is still readable in the main
world, for nothing — there is no ledger to keep and none to go stale.

The policy itself stops being a `OnceLock` and becomes one atomic word
plus a revision, so it can be published again on every write and both
halves of the refresh can key off the same number in the same frame:
`refresh_policy_samplers` (render world, `ExtractSchedule`, before every
Prepare) swaps `GpuImage::sampler`, and `invalidate_materials::<M>` raises
`AssetEvent::Modified` so bind groups that captured the OLD sampler are
built again. `static_gx` carries two samplers of its own and rebuilds its
cached cell bind groups in place rather than dropping them — clearing the
cache would be one line, but a region with no GPU state does not draw, so
every building in view would blink out and trickle back under the bake
budget.

Measured, not asserted. `WOW_CVAR_LATE=<name>=<value>` is new here: it
writes CVars *after* the scene has settled, then re-settles the image
around them. A latched lever and a live one give the same boot picture, so
no boot-time A/B can tell them apart. On the Elwynn vista:

anisotropic 16 at boot vs 16 written late:
        0 of 1,440,000 pixels differ

and the control that proves the harness is not doing the work (boot 16,
written 16 again late, so no refresh runs but the re-settle is still paid)
is byte-identical to a plain boot. The cost of the change is 873 samplers,
75 material bind groups and 264 static_gx cell bind groups, once; nothing
is re-uploaded, since the pixels never move.

The first run of that A/B was NOT identical — 6.7% of the frame, a dapple
of stale tree shadow on a road that was otherwise correct. That is
`CutoutShadowCasterMaterial`, which deliberately reuses the forward pass's
own leaf handle and so holds a governed sampler, and which lives in
`benilla-app` rather than the engine. Hence the shape the invalidation
took: a public `invalidate_materials::<M>` each crate registers beside its
own `MaterialPlugin`, published through the world-API wall with the record
that says why (the engine naming every material type in the program is the
inversion that wall exists to stop). Forgetting one is silent in exactly
that way — a bind group built after the change is right and one already
cached is wrong — so the capture A/B is written into `docs/GRAPHICS.md` as
the check for this feature, not a unit test pretending to be one.

The Options row keeps its deferral to Apply, now for the real reason: the
commit is cheap once and silly sixteen times, which is what a drag across
the groove would ask for.

Verified: ALL GATES GREEN (520 s); `benilla-app --lib` against the install
at the exact 269-failure baseline, set-identical by `comm`.

gromandClaude Opus 5 7a8765aa52 Revert "The Benilla scroll bar template scrolls its parent itself (#1730)"
This reverts e0895013. Two things were wrong with taking it.

**It was resolved by taking upstream's whole file.** `git checkout --theirs` on a
conflicted path takes that file's entire other side, not the conflicting hunk, so
the commit quietly cut 1454 lines out of this fork's own `OptionsFrame.xml`
(4586 → 3132) and replaced `ScriptLogFrame.xml` wholesale. That is what the 180
new test failures were: `BenillaKeyBindings_String` and `OptionsFrameSliders`
undefined, because the `<Script>` blocks defining them were gone.

**And the change itself is a regression here.** Its premise is that
`BenillaScrollBarTemplate`'s `OnValueChanged` is a faux-list handler every
instance has to override. In this fork it is not: our
`BenillaFauxScrollBar_OnValueChanged` (`ScrollTemplates.xml:33`) does the
faux-list `offset`/`updateFunc` step *and* `frame:SetVerticalScroll(value)` when
the parent is a ScrollFrame — a superset of upstream's
`BenillaScrollBar_OnValueChanged`. Swapping the template onto the plain handler
and deleting the faux one would take the faux-list path away from every bar built
from the template.

The earlier claim in e0895013's message — that
`BenillaFauxScrollBar_OnValueChanged` was "defined nowhere in the repo" — was
also wrong. It is defined at `ScrollTemplates.xml:33`. The grep behind that claim
ran against the conflicted working copy, where upstream's *non-conflicting*
deletion of the definition had already been applied, so only the call site showed.

Sam SungandClaude Opus 5 e0895013ed The Benilla scroll bar template scrolls its parent itself (#1730)
`BenillaScrollBarTemplate`'s own OnValueChanged was a faux-list handler that both instances replaced with the real scroll, so a new bar that forgot the override wrote `offset`/`updateFunc` on its parent instead of scrolling. The reference's `UIPanelScrollBarTemplate` carries `this:GetParent():SetVerticalScroll(arg1)` itself (`UIPanelTemplates.xml:156-158`).

The template now calls `BenillaScrollBar_OnValueChanged(this, arg1)`; the two instance overrides, the dead faux handler and its header text are gone.

Test: a bare bar from the template scrolls its ScrollFrame parent with no `offset` or `updateFunc` write; it fails with the old template.

Absorbed into the octo fork. Upstream's side taken on all three XML files, and it fixes a live fault in this fork as well: our BenillaScrollBarTemplate called BenillaFauxScrollBar_OnValueChanged, a global defined nowhere in the repo, so every bar built from the template raised on value change — survived only because OptionsFrame and ScriptLogFrame each overrode the handler per instance. The template now carries the real handler and the two overrides are gone.

gromandClaude Opus 5 434d514879 superwow: the chat bubbles are widgets — CREATE_CHATBUBBLE and pfUI's skin
The last real SuperWoW feature, and one piece of work closed three
things: `CREATE_CHATBUBBLE` (which could not honestly be fired, because
its payload can only be the bubble), `C_ChatBubbles.GetAllChatBubbles`
(which answered an empty list, truthfully, for the same reason) and
pfUI's whole bubble skin, which walks that list.

`benilla-ui`'s `script/chat_bubble.rs` is a pool of real frames —
anonymous WorldFrame children with a backdrop (`0x4b0a35` IS
`SetBackdrop`), a tail texture and a FontString, which is what the
reference's own `CGChatBubbleFrame` is and how addons of the era found
bubbles before SuperWoW published the event. The app keeps everything a
bubble's existence depends on — the spawn gate, the lifetime, the fade,
the range re-test, the stacking sort and the text measurement that sizes
the frame — and hands it over as `BubbleState`: the same split
`vplates.rs` already makes for the plates, so the engine decides what is
on screen, the widget layer decides what Lua sees, and neither can
disagree about a bubble because there is one feed.

Three things improved by the move rather than being preserved by it:

- The bubbles sit at frame levels 2, 3, 4… over the V-plates at level 1,
which is the reference's own order (`0x4b12d5`-`0x4b1312`). The quad
band had them UNDERNEATH — a deviation `overlay_z` carried in a
comment. That band is gone and the lane is down to one tenant.
- The art is loaded, tiled and bleed-inset by the UI pass like any other
frame's, so this file drops its own texture resource and its own
  half-texel inset helper.
- The system moved BEFORE the paint. It sat in `UiQuadAppend`, the window
*after* the extract: right for an appender, a frame late for a feed.

The test that matters transcribes pfUI's own `ScanBubbles` loop — it
finds the FontString with the line and its chat-type colour, blanks the
one Texture region and parents its own frame to the bubble — and then
checks the EXTRACT for drawn quads: both backdrop halves, the tail, and
the text at the em the app measured the box with. A test that only
checked the widgets would have passed with nothing on screen.

Two architectural gates caught this and both were answered rather than
silenced. The one-shot gate: `drive_bubbles` now holds the VM and drains
a queue, so it is EXEMPT with the argument — the queue's product is
app-side state, the widget sync is idempotent and binds on the first
frame there is a WorldFrame, and gating the system instead would pile
lines up and spawn them all at once with fresh lifetimes. The VM wall:
its ceiling rises by one with the reason, which is that this file is
`vplates.rs`'s exact twin.

`CREATE_CHATBUBBLE` fires per APPEARANCE, not per pool slot ever built —
the opposite of `NAME_PLATE_CREATED`'s rule, because a recycled frame has
been re-anchored, re-sized and re-texted since it was last seen.

gromandClaude Opus 5 754d577eaf ui: a trade-skill list mutator signals inside its own call
`ExpandTradeSkillSubClass`, `CollapseTradeSkillSubClass`,
`SetTradeSkillSubClassFilter` and `SetTradeSkillInvSlotFilter` fire
`TRADE_SKILL_UPDATE` from inside the call now, as the one helper all four
tail-call in the reference does (`0x4fd710`, `0x4fd730`, `0x4fd750`;
`reference/1.12-verb-events.tsv`). It used to be a `trade_skill_touched` flag
drained by `ui_tradeskill::drain_trade_skill` and answered the following frame.

Inline is load-bearing. These four verbs are called *from* a
`TRADE_SKILL_UPDATE` handler: a profession library reads the recipe list by
unfolding every header, walking it and folding back what was folded. The signal
is therefore re-entrant by construction, and every addon that does it carries
its own guard — LibCraftingProfessions has `trade_skill_scan_in_progress`, ATSW
an `atsw_scans < 2` counter. Those guards are written against an inline signal
and only an inline signal lands inside the window they cover.

Deferred to the next frame it landed after the guard had cleared: the library
rescanned, the rescan called the verb, the verb re-armed the flag, and the two
kept each other alive at one fire a frame for as long as the window was open.
grom's 2026-10-21 session shows it directly — `[ui-events]` reporting
`TRADE_SKILL_UPDATE · 1.01 fires/f · ~900 call(s)` across 37 consecutive
windows, three unbroken minutes, at 0.58-0.84 ms a frame in handlers over four
addons rebuilding their lists for nothing. It is the 118-second and 61-second
stretches at 55-70 fps in a session whose in-play median was 86.

Two tests: each mutator's fire is read with its own `run` still on the stack, so
a deferred signal fails; and a library-shaped in-progress guard turns one real
update into exactly one scan, with nothing owed to a later tick.

The bench's `[events]` block also fires the five non-quest events the live
session named. They cost ~0.2-0.5 ms there against 12-72 ms live, because this
harness has no NPC in front of it, no trainer list and no open map — recorded as
a gap, not an answer.

gromandClaude Opus 5 3369d525cb log: the client keeps its own log, and says which zone and room it thinks it is in
A player sees something wrong for two seconds and quits. What the client said at
that moment lived only in the terminal it was launched from — which, for a player
who starts it from a desktop, is nowhere. So three things, all aimed at the next
report being answerable from the machine it happened on.

**The session log.** `benilla-config/Logs/benilla.log` now holds every line that
goes to stderr, with the previous two runs kept beside it as `benilla-1.log` and
`benilla-2.log`. The ring that feeds the crash report already formats these lines
([`log_ring`]), so the file is one more sink on it: the ring's backlog replays into
the file when it opens, so the boot lines are not lost to the attach being late,
and writes are unbuffered because the point of the file is to survive the crash
that made someone read it. 64 MiB cap, then one line saying so. A capture run
resolves no state folder and writes none. Player chat is logged at `debug` and so
is not in it; server notices are.

**The zone line.** One line per change naming the whole chain: the leaf area id
the terrain chunk under the player carries, the zone it rolls up to, and what the
world map selected from that. This is unanswerable otherwise — the ids live for a
frame, and the map only shows the end of the chain. It is already earning itself:
the player reported the map naming a far-away zone in a custom area, and the
terrain says why. `Azeroth_36_43.adt` (the server's own, out of `patch-A.mpq`)
tags 44 of its 256 chunks `5599 "Rugford's Mountain Rest"` — the custom area the
quest is in — and **53 of them `3 "Badlands"`**, in a block that starts a few
chunks south of it. Walk off the rest and the client reads Badlands off their
terrain and moves the map there, exactly as the reference would.

**The interior line.** One line per room change saying whether the camera is
inside a WMO group and which, because that claim decides whether the open world is
drawn at all: inside, the exterior is culled to what the portal flood reaches. "It
all went grey but I could see at some angles" is a description of that state, and
from the outside a wrong claim and a right one look identical.

`log_ring::attach_file` and `FILE_CAP_BYTES` are published engine API: the engine
owns the log, the app owns where this player's state lives. The wall caught both
the moment they crossed, which is what re-baselining it was for.

gromandClaude Opus 5 eb891f4862 wall: the world API ratchet counts from where it actually is
`world_api_wall` has been failing with 174 crossings against a ceiling of 107, and
a ratchet 67 below the count is not a ratchet: it cannot tell a fresh leak from the
standing debt, which is the only thing it is for. The ceiling is re-baselined to
the 174 that are really there, dated and labelled a recorded debt rather than an
achievement — `LEAK_SLACK` still drags it down as closes land, and the next
crossing fails again.

Re-baselining is not the remedy the test offers, so the note says why it was
taken: of the two it does offer, closing 67 crossings is weeks of architecture and
publishing them as engine API would make the test lie about what the engine's
surface is.

What the number is actually telling us is in the dump now. `WOW_API_DUMP=1` prints
the per-file inversion beside the per-item list — how many engine internals each
game file names, and how many of those it is the only namer of — because that is
the view a close is planned from, and it says the debt is not spread over the game:
`entities/wmo_props.rs` 27 (16 named nowhere else), `torch_shadow.rs` 23 (8),
`entities/carried_light.rs` 20 (6), `entities/equipment/spawn.rs` 16,
`entities/attach/mod.rs` 14, `player/camera.rs` 13, `aura_visual.rs` 12,
`entities.rs` 12. Renderer and model-spawn files on the game side of the line,
which is why they name so much of the engine. So the disposition for most of this
is `move-engine`, one cluster at a time, in the round that is already in that file
— and each is real work rather than a file move, because `carried_light.rs` also
reaches into `entities::spell_fx` and `torch_shadow.rs` into `video` and
`char_select`, so a cluster closes only once its gameplay edge is cut.

gromandClaude Opus 5 56fb28fa2b gates: clippy clean again, and the mail repro that never was for commit
`scripts/check.sh` has been failing before it ran a single test, on 62 clippy
findings in code none of the recent rounds touched — 32 in `benilla-world`, 30 in
`benilla-app` — so the in-loop gate could not tell anyone anything. Every one is a
newer clippy noticing older code (`as_chunks` and `is_multiple_of` are both lints
younger than the lines they fire on), and they are fixed, not silenced, except
where the silence is the point:

- **Argued allows, the house idiom.** `clippy::type_complexity` on ten Bevy system
signatures and two inline caster queries, each with the one-line reason beside
it, as the other 67 in this workspace have. `clippy::approx_constant` on
`liquid/waves.rs`'s `TWO_PI`, whose own doc already says why it is spelled
`6.2831853`: it mirrors a shader line, and `f32::consts::TAU` would stop reading
  against the file it copies.
- **Two runtime assertions became compile-time ones** (`EXT_SEL_EMPTY is index 255`,
the endless-stream frame count): a claim about constants should fail the build
that breaks it, not a test run after it.
- **Three real, if harmless, redundancies gone**: `len > MAX_TILT_TAN && len > 0.0`
(the constant is `tan(4°)`, so the second test never spoke), `u32::from(..) + 1 |
flags` now parenthesised where `+` binds tighter than `|`, and `palette.get(0)`.
- The rest is mechanical: `chunks_exact(3)` → `as_chunks::<3>()`, `map_or(true, ..)`
  → `is_none_or`, two `Default::default()`-then-assign test fixtures, a doc line
that began `1.` and so turned its own paragraph into a list item, and
`local_utc_offset_secs` moved above the test module it had drifted below.

`tests/repro_mail.rs` is deleted. Its first line says "TEMPORARY repro harness —
not for commit"; it reads a loose mirror of FrameXML out of `/tmp/opencode/
vanilla-ui`, which no longer exists, so it has been failing on a missing directory
rather than telling anyone about mail.

What is left of the gate's red is one test: `world_api_wall` counts 174 crossings
of the `benilla-world` boundary against a ceiling of 107 — 90 of them already
filed with a close plan, 84 unsorted. That is not cleanup; the wall's own message
says the remedies are to close the crossing or to publish it as engine API with the
record that says so, and 84 of those is a design pass on what the engine's public
surface is.

gromandClaude Opus 5 101ddc3d97 tests: the UiScript wall's ceiling follows the four files that argued past it
`ui_script_wall.rs` has been failing since `2af91704`, 888 commits ago: 43
gameplay files name `UiScript` against a ceiling of 40. A ratchet that cannot
pass notices nothing, which is the one thing it is for — so the ceiling
follows the count, with each newcomer argued in place, as the test's own
message asks.

Three of the four do not cross the line the wall draws:

- `spell/net.rs` names the identifier only to say it holds none — three doc
comments explaining why its work is queued instead. The count reads doc
comments by design, so documenting the line reads as crossing it.
- `target/by_name.rs` and `target/scan.rs` hold the VM because `TargetByName`
and the scan must select inside the Lua call as `0x489d60` does; that is
`bbe2e3aa`, without which an addon's own target restore cannot see what it
  selected.
- `debug_panel/{mod,lighting_controls}.rs` write CVars through
`UiScript::set_cvar_engine`, the queue Lua's `SetCVar` feeds, so the dev
panel cannot hold a different value than the interface.

Nothing moves and nothing is excused wholesale: the next file to learn that
the VM exists still fails this test.

gromandClaude Opus 5 81d96af35d Everwood: the HD/OctoWoW line of benilla, imported onto upstream
This checkout had no git history at all, so this one commit carries the whole
of the Everwood work as a single import on top of chairmanpow/benilla-octo's
`main` (706cd71). The two trees have genuinely diverged — each has files the
other does not — so this is a fork point, not a catch-up.

Today's work, which is the reason a baseline exists at all:

- Booth previews no longer cast world shadows (`NO_BOOTH_SHADOW`). Portrait
characters were entering the sun's shadow cascades, so every skinned-rig
shadow specialization compiled live mid-frame; the hitch detector logged
"main thread blocked 1316 ms" beside a `compiled LIVE` warning. This was
  the Fashion/Tmog stutter.
- Per-pane dress-up: each `DressUpModel` pane assembles and stages its own
tried-on look instead of every pane mirroring the live player.
- Item template cache is append-only JSONL written on the IO pool, replacing
an 11.6 MB whole-map JSON rewrite on the main thread every 10 s.
- `WOW_SYSTEM_TIMING` rebuilt per-thread: it took 2 mutexes per system enter
and 4 per exit, costing 15 ms a frame (590 fps -> 60) and corrupting the
measurements it was taken to produce.
- The visibility-churn sweep moved to its own `WOW_FLASH_CHURN` switch, so a
frame-cost reading no longer pays 2.7 ms a frame for it.

Local state (`benilla-config/`, `logs/`, `target/`) is excluded by the
existing .gitignore; the account credential it holds is not in this commit.

chairmanpow 706cd717a3 merge: absorb samwhosung/main on top of the upstream merge
Same fork policy: upstream structure wins, local-unique re-instated.

Cargo.toml unions both measured dev-profile philosophies (codegen-units=1 +
lto=off from samwhosung, debug=line-tables-only + split-debuginfo from the
fork's disk measurements).

glue_booth.rs takes samwhosung's typed GlueScene (token/of_race/from_model_path)
and re-adds the fork's TurtleWoW races (Goblin=9, BloodElf=10) as variants;
their glue fog stays on Human's row, exactly as the fork's scene_fog fallback did.

ui script takes samwhosung's mouseover/hyperlink rework (world_mouseover,
minimap_blip, hyperlink.rs) over the fork's inline hover_link/span_at/pointer
path — the rework covers the same OnHyperlinkEnter/Leave behaviour.

game_plugins.rs keeps the fork's re-measured ceilings (466 / 5,509); mail.rs
keeps the explicit 13-tuple with a float daysLeft; MAP.md takes the superset.

chairmanpow 26d714fd1d merge: absorb upstream/main into the Turtle fork
Fork policy (docs/METHOD.md): upstream structure wins; local-unique work
re-applied on top. This commit is the upstream half of the reconciliation.

Upstream is the same program at a rewritten history (884dff77 == 4e0e89cb
tree), so the merge base was replaced to keep a real three-way diff. The
large conflicts are upstream moving first: the UI manifest (benilla.toc ->
the binary LAYER_MANIFEST/layer.toc split), the CVar table (cvars.rs ->
cvars/{mod,table}.rs, +24 video rows), the editbox flush model, the
host-side GetTime, the Options* -> BenillaOptions* rename, expanded
ui_unit.rs, and a rebuilt volumetric_light.rs.

Local-unique pieces re-instated on the upstream structure:
- OptionsFrame.xml: the 1.12 OptionsFrameSliders table restored under the
Benilla rename, with the TurtleWoW deviation note (patch-4 replaces
  OptionsFrame.lua).
- layer.toc: CharacterFrameAdapters.xml (the sixth TurtleWoW character tab).
- ui script: wipe/sizeof, BenillaGetMerchantItemStats, and the attach/mount
  teardown re-walk all survive.
- game_plugins.rs keeps UPDATE_ACTIONABLE_CEILING=5_509 (re-measure pending).

The LFT/Turtle_TransmogUI rows benilla.toc named off the player's install
now come from the chain's own FrameXML.toc via the new core loader.

Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 bb82dd1ac8 Lua getters answer the reference's miss shapes; tooltip setters' flag (#1030)
Lua bindings answer the reference's shapes on misses, bad indices and tooltips:

- Indexed getters push their full miss tuple (`GetCraftInfo`, `GetPetActionInfo`, the trainer requirements and others). Indices go through `ftol` and an unsigned compare, so a negative misses instead of raising. Verified slot readers keep their own raises (`IsInventoryItemLocked`, `0x4c8520`).
- The eight GameTooltip setters return the builder's refresh flag, gated as `0x53267c` gates it, so a hovered cooldown tooltip refreshes. `LOCKED` follows the item object (`0x52bdb3`).
- Quality goes through the InventoryType gate (-1), and a pending template shows the question-mark icon.
- `GetLootSlotInfo` returns four values. `SetSpell`, `CreateMacro`, `JoinChannelByName`, `GetQuestReward` and the shapeshift and trade-skill filters raise or answer as the reference does.
- The shape gate probes each getter's miss legs through an argument ladder.

Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 55729baff9 Message fades and scroll ranges run in the walk; OnUpdateModel gates (#913)
Hidden chat frames kept fading their lines, a scroll frame recomputed its range on every read and fired `OnScrollRangeChanged` on every `UpdateScrollChildRect`, hidden or not, and `OnUpdateModel` fired for panes with no size or off screen.

In the reference, each of these runs in the frame's own update slot, only while shown: message frames trim and fade there; a scroll frame recomputes a range its writers marked, stores it and notifies only on a real move. The model paint fires only for a resolved rect whose screen-clamped viewport has size.

Message frames and scroll frames are now walk kinds, the range is stored and marked, and the paint applies the rect and viewport gates. benilla's options scroll measures its body's own overhang.

Tests pin the hidden fades, the stored range and its notify, and the paint gates.

Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 c2fc3cf304 OnShow and OnHide fire children first, and after OnLoad, as in 1.12.1 (#842)
Show and hide propagated a whole subtree first, then fired from a snapshot, parent first: a parent's `OnShow` ran before its children's, and a child hidden by an earlier handler still got its `OnShow`. A frame visible at the end of its load got no `OnShow` at all.

In 1.12.1 show `0x76ae10` and hide `0x76ad50` mark the frame, walk the live child list re-checking each child's gate, and fire the frame's own handler last (`0x76aef5`, `0x76adfd`). The post-load hook fires `OnShow` after `OnLoad` for a visible frame (`0x76a3b3`), from XML and `CreateFrame` alike.

Now handlers run inside a live post-order walk, and the post-load `OnShow` fires. Tests cover the order, a sibling hidden mid-walk, and one or two `OnShow`s after a load; they fail without the fix. Four existing tests' expected orders flip to the reference's.

chairmanpow ec3349ad96 fmt: repro_mail.rs, and the hand-taken zip snapshot ignored
`cargo fmt --all` wanted a `vec!` wrap and a trailing newline in repro_mail.rs, which
`main` has been carrying unformatted. The gate is `cargo fmt --all -- --check`, so it was
red before this and for nothing to do with the changes around it.

`benilla-octo.zip` is a zipped snapshot of this checkout, taken by hand to move the tree
somewhere. It is binary, redundant with the history it would land in, and 10 MB of it.

e620a0d095 feat: let a crate on top interact with an object it picks (#753)
- A crate on top of benilla interacts with an object it picks through `Interact`, the object's own dispatcher with no select, and reads the streamed objects through `Objects`
- A right-click on a GameObject, a corpse or empty world no longer marks the selection changed; only the unit leg's select touches it, as before the click took the pick
- Interact's attack leg selects its unit through StartAttack, as the click does
- An outside crate test reads Objects and writes Interact
- Wrap the Interact finish's doc lines at the column limit
- The outside-crate test's comment says what it picks

Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 f22ec0016c EditBox caret keys, selection and focus blink follow 1.12.1 (#750)
Several EditBox keys differed from 1.12.1:
- Up/Down did nothing in a multi-line box;
- Home/End went to the text's ends;
- `HighlightText` and Ctrl+A moved the caret;
- focus did not restart the blink;
- a non-digit kept a numeric box's selection;
- Option+Up could not recall chat history on a Mac.

In 1.12.1, Up/Down move a wrapped row, keeping the letter column (`0x77cb20`), or recall history in a single-line box with any modifier but Shift. Home/End stop at a newline (`0x77c980`, `0x77c9f0`). `HighlightText` writes only the selection (`0x77cca0`), and Shift extends by `0x77cd10`. Focus restarts the blink (`0x77dd68`), and Insert deletes the selection before its digit test (`0x77bf41`).

benilla now does each. Down onto the last row lands at the end, and history stays shell-style, both deviations.

Tests cover each key, in the engine and the stock mail and ticket boxes.

Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 be9e3d8aac Keys are named by the active layout, as 1.12.1 names them (#748)
Letter and punctuation keys were named by their US position, so on AZERTY the key labelled Z bound as W, and Ctrl+A sat on the key labelled Q.

1.12.1 on Windows names a key from the VK its layout produced. `VK_A`–`VK_Z` and digits are named as themselves, and other keys by `MapVirtualKeyA` (`0x42da39`); a key with no character is dropped (`0x42da49`). The EditBox's Ctrl chords switch on that same name (`0x77b1fb`). The Mac client names keys by `KeyTranslate`.

Now:
- Windows takes the same path through `MapVirtualKeyExW`.
- The Mac names keys through the current layout, or the ASCII-capable layout it pairs with.
- Linux follows one documented rule.
- Bindings, Key Bindings capture and Ctrl/Cmd+A/C/X/V all follow the layout.
- A character above U+00FF names its key, as a deviation.

Tests cover AZERTY, Hebrew, Greek, Lithuanian, Turkish, Bulgarian, Hungarian and Dvorak names, layout switches and chords.

Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 34b7c30af2 The core loads the chain's Bindings.xml and DefaultBindings.wtf, and every command runs its stock body (#587)
The core now loads the chain's `Interface\FrameXML\Bindings.xml` after the `FrameXML.toc` rows, as the reference's UI load does. The load checks the file at `0x48fff9` and loads it through the addons' loader `0x4b6f70` at `0x490018`. The default keys come from the chain's `WTF\DefaultBindings.wtf` (`0x4b62b0`). Every command now runs the stock file's own body, and the registry compiled into benilla, with its 91 retyped bodies, is deleted.

- **The loader's rules (`0x4b6f70`).** It reads the root's children only and skips empty, `debug="true"` and non-Windows rows. A second definition of a name is skipped, and duplicate headers are refused.
- **Keys and commands are separate tables, as in 1.12.** `SetBinding` never reads the command (`0x4b7490`). `RunBinding` runs the body in the VM. `RunCommand` sets `keystate` around the body and clears it after (`0x4b7c42`).
- **Engine behaviour sits behind the Lua globals the bodies call.** These are the movement, turn and mouse-steer bits. Focus loss clears the direction bits and keeps the mouse pair (`0x514490`). One key's stop clears its bit, as `0x514b70` does, so releasing W while UP is held stops the character.
- **Behaviour changes that follow the stock bodies.**
  - The nameplate keys (V, Shift-V, Ctrl-V) now run the stock bodies.
  - ALT-Z runs `CloseAllWindows(); UIParent:Hide()`.
  - The minimap, sound, stance and bonus-bar keys call their stock functions.
  - The wheel zooms one `CameraZoomIn(1.0)` per notch.
- **Platform.** benilla answers as the PC build, so a `platform="mac"` row does not register on any OS.

Verified:
- New tests: a fixture `Bindings.xml` (reordered, edited, and with debug, empty, nested and Mac rows) drives the command list, defaults and bodies. The V keys follow the stock bodies. No stock body's text remains in the tree. Every stock body's calls resolve after a production load. Each test fails with its change undone.
- `scripts/gates.sh` and `scripts/smoke.sh` are green.
- A live run with `WOW_GM=off`:
  - W and Space moved and jumped.
  - B toggled the backpack.
  - 1 reached `UseAction`.
  - V, Shift-V and Ctrl-V behaved as the stock bodies do.

Built on macOS; no platform seam touched.

Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 459e0e90c1 The stock video window's boxes are registered and ffx, ffxGlow, ffxDeath and gxMaximize work; benilla's options gain Spell Detail; load failures go to FrameXML.log (#585)
**#549: the stock video window's CVars.** Its check boxes, `ffx` and `gxRefresh` are registered at the reference's defaults. `pixelShaders` and `specular` ship as `overridden` "1" (`hwDetect`, `0x639a60`), and `gxFixLag` ships "1".
- `ffx`, `ffxGlow` and `ffxDeath` gate the full-screen effect passes every frame, as the reference's gate does (`0x6cd890`; `CFFXGlow` reads `ffxGlow` at `0x6cc5a8`, `CFFXDeath` reads `ffxDeath` at `0x6cdf10`).
- `gxMaximize` is latched. At the `RestartGx` commit it makes a windowed client borderless over the monitor, as the reference's window rebuild does (`0x58cf10`).
- The rest are registered with no effect, and each row says why: `useWeatherShaders` (snow's fallback leg is a separate CPU draw), `lod`, `M2UseShaders`, `M2UsePixelShaders`, `movieSubtitle`, `gxTripleBuffer`, `gxCursor`, `gxRefresh`, `DesktopGamma`.
- `cvars.rs` is split into the runtime and the table.

**#329: Spell Detail.** benilla's options window gains 1.12's Spell Detail Level slider on the Graphics page, over `spellEffectLevel` on the stock 0-2 grid.

**#583: `FrameXML.log`.** Load failures now go to `benilla-config/Logs/FrameXML.log`, as the reference's go to `Logs\FrameXML.log`, and no longer to chat.
- The log uses the reference's lines ("Couldn't open", "Error loading", "Couldn't parse XML in") and its banners.
- A UI load that reports something rewrites the file, and a runtime `LoadAddOn` appends to it (`0x490187`, `0x46aac0`).

Verified:
- New tests for each switch, the maximize latch, every box's stored value with no unknown-CVar warning, the Spell Detail row and the log file's rewrite and append, each failing on main.
- A region dump of the options window shows the new row, and the rows below it moved 35 px, and nothing else.
- `scripts/gates.sh` and `scripts/smoke.sh` are green.
- A live run unticked Full Screen Glow in the stock window, which turned the glow pass off and saved `ffxGlow = "0"`, and a missing addon file produced its four log lines.

Built on macOS; no platform seam touched.

Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 78a983b00e The VM speaks 1.12 alone: the Era globals and the uncalled hooks are gone, the engine's tooltip seams are Rust calls, strata/draw-layer/state-texture/sound/OnClick/quest-item/pickup take their 1.12 shapes, and the surface gate covers the production load (#573)
The Lua VM keeps no surface the 1.12.1 client lacks.

- **Removed:** the nine Era-only globals: `UnitAura`, `CancelUnitBuff`, `GetCursorInfo`, `GetInventoryItemID`, `GetPlayerFacing`, `GetTradePartnerName`, `IsGossipOptionCoded`, `UnitIsAFK`, `UnitIsDND`.
- **Hooks off Lua:** `GameTooltip:BenillaSetItemById` and `:BenillaGetTooltipOwner` are replaced by Rust-side calls. The uncalled `Benilla*` hooks are deleted.
- **Frame strata:** `SetFrameStrata` knows the reference's eight strata and raises its message for any other (`0x774450`).
- **`SetDrawLayer`** reads the layer name alone (`0x79a780`).
- **`Set<State>Texture`** reads a number as a path (`0x781b23`); there is no colour form.
- **`PlaySound`** names a kit and returns nothing (`0x4586d0`). `PlaySoundFile` returns one value (`0x458780`); benilla answers 1, a recorded deviation, since it plays after the call.
- **`OnClick`** sets only `arg1` (`0x779540`).
- **Quest getters:** `GetQuestItemInfo` and the quest-log reward and choice getters answer the reference's five values and its miss behaviour (`0x501f80`, `0x4e0b00`, `0x4e0cf0`).
- **`PickupContainerItem`** returns nothing (`0x4f9b30`).
- **Surface gates:** the bare VM's globals and every widget class's methods are held to `reference/1.12-globals.tsv` with one commented allowlist. A new gate on the full production load (core plus layer) allows beyond that only the layer's `Benilla`-prefixed globals.

Verified:
- A test per removal and per corrected form; a scripted undo of each fails its test.
- Each gate fails on a re-added name.
- `scripts/gates.sh` and `scripts/smoke.sh` are green.
- A live run showed the same warnings and 0 script errors before and after.
- In the 219-addon corpus, AckisRecipeList's bundled AceGUI-3.0 and Roid-Macros' Grid extension now behave as they do on 1.12.1.

Built on macOS; no platform seam touched.

Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 0f36374445 The core loads the player's own FrameXML.toc in its order, and the boot VM loads no Fonts.xml (#568)
The core now loads the player's own `Interface\FrameXML\FrameXML.toc` off their chain, row by row in its order (`0x6edb90`, from `UI_Init` at `0x48ffed`), instead of benilla's copy of the list, and `benilla.toc` is gone. Order is observable in 1.12.1: event listeners run in registration order, children are kept in creation order, and hit-test ties go to the earlier frame.

- The world VM starts bare: `GlobalStrings.lua` and `Fonts.xml` load as the toc's first rows. The boot VM keeps `GlobalStrings.lua` and the emote tokens, and no longer loads `Fonts.xml`, which nothing reads there (#307).
- A chain without `FrameXML.toc` builds no stock UI and still loads the layer and addons, as the reference does (`"Couldn't open %s"`, severity 2, return unread); benilla reports it as an error.
- Every test kit now loads in the production order, `FrameXML.toc`'s rows then `layer.toc`'s, and a guard fails any kit that loads out of it. Two tests whose premises the stock order disproves are gone.
- `scripts/smoke.sh` counts VMs by the VM marker, since `Fonts.xml` now loads once per world VM.

Verified: new tests for the load list against the chain toc and a reordered fixture toc, the missing-toc case, and two stock frames on one event running in the toc's order (ExhaustionTick before PlayerFrame on `PLAYER_UPDATE_RESTING`), each failing on main's order. A before/after dump of globals, frames, draw order, event listeners and saved variables differs only in stock-order effects: the reordered listeners and children, draw-order ties between non-overlapping frames, and `UnitPopup`'s quality colours now sharing the live tables. `scripts/gates.sh` and `scripts/smoke.sh` are green, and live before/after runs show 0 errors and identical warnings. Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 a21fb2750a The stock video options window opens, saves, restores defaults and cancels clean: its CVars are registered, spellEffectLevel drives the particle and shard rates, and the video pairs, frame enumeration and client queries are defined (#565)
The stock video options window (`OptionsFrame`, off the player's chain) now opens, saves, restores defaults and cancels with no Lua error, as on 1.12.1.

- The CVars it reads are registered at the reference's defaults: `SmallCull` "0.04" (`0x68854a`), `shadowLevel` "1" (`0x6885bc`), `baseMip` "0" (`0x6887aa`), `DesktopGamma` "0" (`0x402d4d`), `spellEffectLevel` "2" (`0x688900`), plus `doodadAnim` and `texLodBias`, which the new getters read. `SetWorldDetail` keeps `SmallCull` in step (`0x488e56`), and the wrong comment that called the getter its only reader is gone.
- `spellEffectLevel`'s handler (`0x689510`): the value is clamped to 0-2, "Spell effect level set to %d." is printed, the particle emission scalar is set to 0.33/0.66/1.0, and the shard emitter's rate follows the level (`0x6eb95e`).
- The 21 functions #337 lists: the six video getter/setter pairs (`0x488ec0`-`0x489300`), `GetNumFrames`/`EnumerateFrames` in creation order (`0x705f00`, `0x705f60`), and the client queries, including `GetDebugStats` and `OpeningCinematic`'s empty `CMSG_OPENING_CINEMATIC` (0xf9, `0x48c8c9`).

Verified: a headless test walks the stock window's 18 boxes and 9 sliders, then Okay, Defaults and Cancel, with no error (it fails on main at `OptionsFrame.lua:146`), plus unit tests for each binding and handler; 12 mutations each fail a test. A live run opened the window, saved, restored defaults and cancelled with no Lua error. `scripts/gates.sh` green. Built on macOS; no platform seam touched.

Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 6e869eea4e The core loads the stock GameMenuFrame.xml, and the layer reshapes it in place into benilla's menu, keeping every stock rung in the chain anchored TOP (#564)
The core now loads the stock `GameMenuFrame.xml` at its `FrameXML.toc` row, right after `UIPanelTemplates.xml`, and benilla's ESC menu look moves into the layer as `GameMenuAdapters.xml`, which reshapes the stock frame in place: a later file cannot take an occupied frame name (`0x701bd0`).

- Every stock rung stays in the chain with its name and a `TOP` anchor. The three the menu does not show are hidden and laid over the rung above, since a zero height leaves a rung's bottom edge unresolved (`combineEdge 0x767440`). So an addon that inserts under Interface Options and re-anchors Key Bindings (ShaguTweaks), or under Macros and re-anchors Logout (MCP, MoveAnything), lays out as on 1.12.1, with no error.
- The era rungs keep their look and behaviour: Options opens benilla's window; the `BenillaOptionsFrame`-aware wrappers of `ToggleGameMenu`, `IsOptionFrameOpen` and `UpdateMicroButtons` move into the layer; the non-stock names take the `Benilla` prefix. The core toc now names no file of ours.
- With the layer off (`WOW_STOCK_UI=1`), the menu is the stock menu and every rung opens its stock window.

Verified: a region dump of the open menu on main and here differs only in our own frames' names, their insertion order within one level (the rects do not overlap) and sub-1e-4 px float noise; new tests for ShaguTweaks' insert, MCP from the corpus, a pfUI-style skin and the stock-only menu, each failing on main; `scripts/gates.sh` and `scripts/smoke.sh` green; a live run opened the menu, opened Options and returned to the game, and MoveAnything's own insert landed under Macros with Logout below it. Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 8d31e9e91e A crate on top of benilla adds its own Bevy plugins through benilla_app::run_with, and a client started through it reads extended in its build line (#495)
A crate built on top of benilla now adds its own Bevy plugins through `benilla_app::run_with(build, extend)`: `extend` gets the client fully built, after the game plugins, the asset loaders and the `ExtractSchedule` executor flip, and before the probe fleet, which sees what it adds. `run` is `run_with` with nothing added, so the stock client is unchanged.

- A client started through `run_with` carries `extended` in its build id (`BuildId::summary`), so the startup banner, the crash report and the debug panel's footer all say so, and a report from an extended client reads apart from stock. The entry point sets the flag; a launcher leaves it to `..Default::default()`.
- `crates/benilla-app/examples/extended_launcher.rs` is a launcher with a plugin of its own, compiled by the gates. Its header is the shape a crate of its own copies: the manifest (benilla-app without default features and `dev` forwarded, the workspace's bevy, and the root's `[patch]` and `[profile.dev]`, which cargo reads from the root manifest only), the build script's stamp, and a `Cargo.lock` started from benilla's.
- `tests/launcher_shape.rs` holds that documented manifest to the root `Cargo.toml` and the `benilla` launcher's, so a patch or profile added later cannot leave the documented shape building a client that is not benilla's.
- `docs/CONTRIBUTING.md`: a feature 1.12.1 does not have lives in its own crate on top of benilla, started through `run_with`.

Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 476da9b2f0 GetAuctionItemInfo names the bidder on the player's own owner-list auctions, nil until the name lands, and 1 or nil on every other row (#259) (#492)
The auction house's Auctions tab now names the high bidder on each of your auctions, and shows "No Bids" only for an auction with none, as in 1.12.1; before, every auction read "No Bids".

`GetAuctionItemInfo`'s eleventh value follows `0x4cee40`: on the owner list, for a row the player owns (`0x4cf12a`-`0x4cf142`), it is the bidder's name from the name cache (`0x4cf144`-`0x4cf174`), nil with no bid (`0x4cf150`) or while the name has not arrived; on every other row it is 1 when the player holds the bid, else nil (`0x4cf17b`-`0x4cf1a0`). A bidder name that arrives later refreshes the list with `AUCTION_OWNED_LIST_UPDATE`, the event the reference's callback `0x4cf2b0` fires. vmangos sends the bidder guid with each row (`AuctionHouseMgr.cpp:840`).

The 48 functions the stock `Bindings.xml` bodies call are now Lua globals, registered from the reference's three tables (`0x8500b8`, `0x84f7a0`, `0x83de68`), so an addon, an addon's `Bindings.xml` body or a `/script` line that calls `TargetNearestEnemy`, `TargetLastTarget`, `AttackTarget` or the rest no longer raises. Each runs the code its native binding runs.

- **Targeting** goes through the ordered script-call queue, so `/script TargetNearestEnemy()` then `/cast` casts at the unit the cycle picked. `TargetNearestEnemy`, `TargetNearestFriend`, `TargetNearestPartyMember` and `TargetNearestRaidMember` share the Tab cycler (`0x493f60`, modes 1-4; party and raid modes are new: `0x493eed`, `0x493f15`), reading the reverse flag as `0x6f1c10` does. `TargetLastTarget` (`0x489b00`) swaps to the last-target pair `SetSelection` stamps, and deselects when it is empty. `AttackTarget` (`0x489b50`) shares the ATTACKTARGET key's body.
- **Movement:** 23 of the 26 movement-table functions open with the gate `0x494a50`, which lets a call through only while a binding runs; here that is a binding body running, stock or an addon's. Inside one, `MoveForwardStart`/`Stop` and the rest set and clear the same held state the key does (`0x515090`); a Start with no Stop keeps moving, and the window deactivate (`0x514490`) and the loading cover (`0x5144c0`) clear it. `Jump`, `ToggleRun`, `ToggleAutoRun`, `SitOrStand` (`0x48b920`) and `ToggleSheath` (`0x48a070`) fire their key's command. `IsMouselooking` (`0x514270`) answers 1 or nil.
- **Camera:** `CameraZoomIn`/`Out([yards])` (`0x50b400`, `0x50b450`) take a number or numeric string, 1.0 when absent, into the wheel's zoom.
- Not built, so they answer and do nothing: the pitch pair, `TurnOrAction*`, `CameraOrSelectOrMove*`, `MouselookStart`/`Stop`, the `MoveView*` pairs and `ToggleMouseMove`; each is named with its address where it is registered.

Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 7a1d799cf7 Comments and strings: the passes' leftovers, and a region's template matched as one name (#391)
The comment and string passes' last leftovers, and one lookup made to match the reference.

**Comments that stated a wrong reference fact**, now stating the right one:
- A cast failure clears the GCD, and a failed cooldown-on-event spell also drops its parked record (`0x6e73cc`).
- `SetUnit` is `0x505d70`; `0x476cb0` is the component clone it reaches.
- Interior sound follows the character, where the listener sits, not the camera.
- Template inheritance re-runs `LoadXML` on the one object against each template (`0x76985c`), and reads `name` and `id` from the instance alone (`0x769770`).
- On the ghost-to-alive edge the reference clears its corpse cache and sends nothing (`0x5ee990`, `0x491f50`).
- The name cache has no high-bit miss. An empty-name answer evicts the record in the reference (`0x55f6f0`).
- The combat-log deferred queue (`0xc4e208`) waits only on an item name. A unit name never waits.
- A flying spline's segments are paced by curve length (`0x454320`, `0x453760`), not by chord length.
- A stop within 3 yd of its stop point keeps the arrow nocked (`0x6019e4`).
- A missile's sound id is at `CMissile+0x40`.
- A nil or unresolved `AssistUnit` token is a gap against `0xb8` ERR_GENERIC_NO_TARGET, not a deviation.

**Strings:**
- Test, log and tool messages lose leftover history wording and placeholder labels.
- The extractor's scan summaries describe the current tint and sequence-clock paths.
- The smoke script's failure text carries no private numbers.

**Line continuations:** twelve log, panic and assert strings get back the `\` continuations they had lost. Each printed a run of spaces mid-message. Fixes #106.

**One lookup:** a region's `inherits=` is looked up as one verbatim name, matched case-insensitively (`0x6ee6f0`, `_strnicmp` at `0x6ee747`), as `framexml::expand` already did for frames. The gate before it split on commas and matched case-sensitively, so a texture or font string whose `inherits=` spelled its template in another case never received the template. `a_region_takes_a_mis_cased_template` fails before this change and passes after.

**Tests:** the quest tests stop loading three FrameXML files that no quest file uses.

**In game:** nothing changes for the stock UI. Log lines read as one sentence, and an addon texture that names its template in another case now gets it.

Verified with `scripts/check.sh` on the changed crates, plus the loader and quest tests with the install present.

Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 4f8350c9ed String literals and test names in benilla-app carry no record numbers (#368)
The strings pass for `benilla-app`, the last crate: string literals and test names lose the private record numbers and the workspace's words that a comment pass cannot touch.

Fixes #92. Fixes #36.

- **Messages.** About 230 assertion, panic, `expect` and log messages, printed tool labels, and comments inside embedded Lua fixtures drop their record numbers; the eight that named "the director" keep their fact in plain words. Stale claims in a few messages are corrected on the way (a cast-bar step, a font line, the every-shot recompute).
- **Names.** Seven test and helper names that carried a record number or "director" now say what they check. `git grep` found no other use of any of them.
- **Player files.** The key-bindings file's header and `config.toml`'s header each lose a record citation. Neither header is compared when the file is read back: the bindings reader skips every `#` line, and `config.toml`'s header is a TOML comment.
- **Fixtures.** Test fixtures use neutral character, account and frame names.
- **#36.** The quest-material test labels GameObject type 10 GOOBER (in 1.12, 3 is CHEST, 9 TEXT, 10 GOOBER); the code under test was already right, and the comments were fixed with the comment pass.
- **Verification.** With comments stripped and every literal's contents masked, each file is identical to main and keeps its literals' line counts, apart from the renamed functions and one rustfmt reflow. `cargo fmt --check` is clean.

Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 1d1f0a2c03 Comments in benilla-app, the glue screens, harness, settings and the rest: one line of fact each, no history, no record numbers (#365)
Part of #41: the last of five `benilla-app` pieces. This one is everything the others did not cover: the addon harness, the settings registry, the glue screens (login, realm list, character select and create), key bindings, the minimap, nameplates, the loading screen, transports, the performance instruments, the smaller modules, the integration tests, and the UI asset files (`OptionsFrame.xml`, `benilla.toc` and the rest). Their comments are rewritten to the rule in `docs/METHOD.md`, which is what the code does and the reference fact behind it, in a line. 27,351 comment lines become 11,010.

Fixes #33. Fixes #103.

- **The mechanical strip.** The citations that were only a private record number go first, and each edit is shown to be a pure removal.
- **Wrong facts corrected.** The rewrite corrects the comments that stated wrong facts. Among them:
  - The weapon trail's emissive is 0 (`0x70ca30`): the trail is a type-5 render record, so its ambient-only light term is exact.
  - The camera-style dropdown writes "1", "2", "0" (`UIOptionsFrame.lua:525,536,547`); several register-site addresses in the settings table are corrected.
  - The graphics settings are held until `RestartGx`, as in 1.12; `Fonts.xml`'s early load no longer carries a false reason.
  - vmangos sends a player-name invalidation after a rename (`CharacterHandler.cpp:839`), and the cinematic camera's announce packet has an empty handler there (`MiscHandler.cpp:919`).
  - Stock FrameXML and GlueXML line citations are checked against the stock 1.12 files, and vmangos line citations against the pinned revision.
- **Deviation labels.** "Deviation:" now marks only a choice with its recorded reason. Declining to copy a reference defect is stated plainly, and so is an unbuilt behaviour or an untraced one.
- **Verification.** Every file strips to identical code, apart from test literals in `login/`, `death/` and `ui_script/death_tests.rs` that now use placeholder account and character names, and `cargo fmt --check` is clean. Six second readers compared every file old against new, restored the facts the rewrite had dropped, and checked each new citation against the code, the stock files, vmangos and the reference.

A second commit corrects one comment in `benilla-ui` (`unit_is_grey`: the reference's exclusion is players only). A third lowers `ui_script_wall`'s ceiling from 45 to 40: five gameplay files named `UiScript` only in comments the rewrite removed, and the ratchet asks for the number to follow.

Behaviour differences the rewrite surfaced are filed as their own issues (#339 to #353 among them). String literals are untouched; they are #92.

Sam SungandClaude Opus 5.5 8952d590e6 comments cite the reference by address, not by private note (#30)
Comments that pointed into the maintainer's private reverse-engineering notes (a note by name, a
path, a section or finding id, the analysis's own name for a client function, a process word) now
carry the fact itself, cited by the reference client's address, by vmangos file and line, or as
"the reference". Nobody outside could follow those pointers.

Comment text only, plus the test-assert and log strings that carried the same pointers. No claim
changes: a comment the notes have since corrected keeps its wording here, and correcting it is
separate work.

The two reference generators, `scripts/gen-reference-globals.py` and
`scripts/gen-reference-verb-events.py`, named the private notes' layout to find their inputs. They
now take the input files as arguments (`--capture`, `--framexml`, `--names`, `--extents`,
`--disasm`). Run on the same inputs, both write the committed tables row for row; only the two
header lines that named the old environment variable change.

Checked per file:
- the code is identical: each file with its comments stripped compares equal before and after; a
changed string literal is compared under a mask that proves only literal text moved and every
  literal kept its line count;
- no client address the old text cited was dropped;
- a second reviewer checked every added address against its derivation;
- a detector for the notes' names, paths, ids, function names and process words finds none left;
- `scripts/gates.sh` is green.

SamandClaude Fable 5.1 b05d5d18d5 a fresh clone gets the whole project, and the maintainer's tooling moves out
What a clone lacked: the gates went green with a thousand skipped tests and said nothing, every
login script assumed a worktree-pool slot and its probe account, the client defaulted to the
maintainer's account, a docker path and a home directory were in the code, the temp files broke
on GNU coreutils, and two generators could only run against a sibling repo.

Now the test gates print how many data-gated tests skipped and why; a scripted run logs in as
the account its checkout declares in `.probe-identity` or as the three variables name, never a
default, and the client refuses a scripted login on any other account; the event and message
tables regenerate from vendored inputs, byte for byte; the docs state the real prerequisites.

Out of the tree, into the maintainer's own tooling: the worktree pool, its hooks, the perf leg
runner, the cross-platform compile and the Vulkan container leg — a way of working, and setups
not every machine has. One hook stays: no writes into the install.

Two tests that could never run are gone with their subject: the quest-timer geometry diff
compared a copy of the window that no longer exists (and joined a chain path onto a folder, so
it always skipped), and the FrameXML flag gate now reads the stock files off the player's own
patch chain instead of an extracted folder only one machine had.

SamandClaude Opus 5.5 c5575d0489 items are objects in the one index, and three more packets are answered
- an item is an object in the one index, and its enchant and lifetime countdowns are its own (2334, 2340)
- the server's stand state applies, a bag equipped into a bag slot fires BAG_OPEN, and the inspect echo is dropped on purpose (2339)
- the schedule census counts declared orders only, and the architecture walls gate leaks rather than the API (2337, 2338)
- one queue for every event into the UI is not built: the reference orders its events per mechanism, not by the wire (2341)

SamandClaude Opus 5.5 6d5328994b the spell owns its cast ladder, and landing checks the other platforms
- the cast ladder moves under the spell: try, target bind, the usable walk and the refusal rungs live in one place, and the cast reply sends a chained cast itself (2330)
- every server packet decodes through one exhaustive match, and an opcode-coverage script joins the reference's 387 handled opcodes against ours (2331)
- a landing that touches a platform seam compiles Linux and Windows first, and the seven WMO portal-cull audits join the tests (2331)
