Ban Appeal

Hello, OctoWoW team.

I got banned for the following reason: Freezz has been permanently banned for buying boosts.

Can I know what caused the ban and appeal it?

I did not violate any rules regarding boosting, and I did not sell such services.

If this is related to the fact that, at level 60, I led a level 52 guildmate and some random players through BRD, that was simply a favor I did without any payment and my teammate can confirm that.

Thank you for your time, and I hope for a positive resolution to this situation.

Your character Freezz paid to be boosted from level 46 all the way to 60. You gave your account to this booster to level on 2026-07-31 and reclaimed the account with a fresh level 60 on 2026-08-03.

Paid? Is there any evidence to confirm this? I didn't make any payments during that time, and if we're talking about an account transfer during that period, it took place in accordance with the rules and between former guildmates—not for the purpose of purchasing anything. And what does the phrase “to this booster” mean?

Well then tell me more about how this "account transfer" was within the bounds of the rules. You were not former guildmates on this server that is for certain.

Okay, first of all, I’d like to clarify what I meant by “account transfer during that period, it took place in accordance with the rules” — I meant that giving account data isn’t prohibited by the server’s rules, based on what I see in the Rules section, and that, in general, it’s a common practice for replacing a player in a raid, farming something, etc. If I'm mistaken, please let me know where I can find this rule so I can avoid making this mistake in the future.

As for the guildmate, I didn't say that we were guildmates on this server, since this is my first character on OctoWoW and, at that time, I wasn't in a guild at all.

I still haven't received any confirmation or proof from you that I made a payment for boosting, and I'd prefer not to think that the decision to ban someone is made without a valid reason. I hope that my character will be unbanned and I'll return to the game

You expect them to give you a copy of the receipt of purchase or your bank history?

Most people don't just give their accounts to random people to play and none of the cases for account sharing you've outlined (which I personally would never feel comfortable with but maybe that's just me) are applicable. It was not farming, it was not to fill in a raid spot. None of my friends would ever ask to play my lowbie characters for me, and would tell me to F off if I asked them to level for me... nor would I even give them access to my account to do so. Does this necessarily mean you're guilty? No. But hella suspicious. Plus I think going "You can't show what I did!" instead of "I didn't do anything" is sus.

It was commen on twow to powerlvl people to 60 with a team regardless if the powerlvld person was online (we even let someone else be logged on it if needed), so yes this has been done to get people to play or lvl missed roles we needed. I get it if they dont want this here, but we need clear rules what isnt allowd. Not claim rmt if something wasnt wanted to be done but within rules.

I agree that giving your account to random people is going too far - you should only do that with people you know and play with - but it's entirely your decision, and you alone are responsible for it. However, in my experience, such actions are quite normal and can be.

In addition, I pointed out that I didn't do anything that violates the rules a few times. As you said, the actions I described above may seem suspicious to some, and perhaps that’s exactly why I was banned, but I want to figure out the reasons, which is why I asked for confirmation or proof of any violation on my side - to be sure that I was banned for a valid reason, not just on the basis of suspicion.

It’s important to say that if any of my actions or decisions raised suspicions, I apologize for that and will try to avoid such actions in the future so as not to waste the Octo WoW team's time on investigations. But in this case, I’d like to highlight once again that I had no intention of breaking the rules or harming myself or the project in any way through my actions, and I didn't do anything that broke the rules. I hope this will be taken into consideration and that my ban will be removed.

For general clarity regarding how this type of activity is determined, we look deep into the context of these situations individually. Boosting is one of the harder forms of RMT for us to track and we do care deeply about not triggering false positives and making it right when we do.

We currently do not outlaw account sharing, although you do take on more risks when you share accounts. These risks do include potential extra scrutiny from RMT audits like this, however any real investigation would see a guild helping someone level a character to 60 collectively. The behavioral activity of an account that is being helped to 60 by a guild is very different than that of an RMT booster.

That being said, if your guild has an RMT booster in their roster and you let them level your account, you could find yourself in this situation. Sharing an account is an incredibly dangerous thing to do, and we strongly recommend against it despite not outlawing it. These types of risks are the risks you take when you engage in this activity.
