Smite DPS is Smite DPS. Discipline is Discipline. They differ. If you intend to go disc DPS, you go smite. If you go DPS, you dont give a shit about giving people shields (except rare cases). Its healer's job to take care of health. You also dont take care of dispels, its the healers job. Not DPS ...

I don't think there is a need to remove the feature as a whole.
