I think the idea sounds nice but in execution lacks.
The same or about the same system existed in the Wow beta (Check out the 0.5.3 Beta server),
the auction house started out of that as an addon. [1]
The original system was very much inspired by Everquest.
It was abandoned for being impractical ...
