Horde Navy

I know this suggestion would be years in the pipeline, but I would love to see it. One thing that has bothered me with Turtle WoW’s Horde is that it doesn’t show any naval presence at all (aside from Sparkwater Port), and I think that is a missed opportunity in terms of narrative possibilities. One way of going about it would be if the eastern part of Orgrimmar is open to the ocean, like it is in Epoch.

That eastern part should then be Orgrimmar’s Goblin district, instead of Sparkwater Port having that role. The Goblins would run a large harbour, and also have a wharf, as a parallel to Stormwind Harbour. The ship route to Revantusk Village in the Hinterlands should also be changed to be in this Goblin district, rather than Sparkwater Port.

An easy solution to this could just be adding Epoch’s Orgrimmar zones wholesale, and then modifying it with a dock in its lower parts.

In Orgrimmar Harbour there should be a sized down version of the juggernaut of the Deadmines. It should be the Horde’s flagship and their weapon to contest Kul Tiras and the Alliance navies. This would be a reference to the juggernauts of Warcraft 2. (1) The main overseer could be the Goblin Neeloc Greedyfingers (2) from Warcraft 3, who could also give quests referencing his companionship with Grommash Hellscream.

Other characters of interest could be Korm Bonegrind, a Dire Orc engineer (3), possibly Bleeding Hollow; some Ogre shipwright, maybe Mogor of the Laughing Skull; or a named Goblin Tinker like Riket Contraption.

To justify the decreased role of Sparkwater Port and the need for a port foe Orgrimmar, Sparkwater Port could be destroyed in a Kul Tiran raid and new quests beating off Tirassian marines could be placed in that area.

Questline hooks:
Neeloc Greedyfingers could also in his own right be a complex figure. In my head he is the Venture Company’s Taskmaster of Kalimdor, and oversees the operations of the Venture Company in the Barrens, Stonetalon and Mulgore. Through a questline it would be revealed that powerful interests among the Warsong and the Blackrock parts of the New Horde protect him and his interests in the Horde lands, as the ventures are what funds the construction of the navy and the armament of the Horde.

Thrall is forced to maintain the conspiracy in order to not upset the construction of the fleet, but plans to betray Neeloc after it is done and clamp down on the Venture Company. One step of the quest chain could be finding Rexxar in Desolace and have him disclose the conspiracy to the player, since he would have knowledge of Neeloc’s business operations in Durotar.
