It appears our dev made a hasty hotfix that missed another use of WMIC, causing this error.
We have patched that issue and have pushed a new launcher version 1.0.13

If you would rather download the client yourself and manually install mods and addons, a zip of the client can be downloaded from: https://octowow.st/download/client

We appreciate your interest in the project!
Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Installing the launcher and updating works, but it still fails with this error when starting from the launcher.

Starting it using VanillaFixes.exe also results in an error.

Starting using WoW.exe works, but when I try to enter the world with the newly created character, it crashes with another error saying I'm out of memory.

I was able to install and get the game running using Lutris and the direct game client.

1. Download the client.
2. Add locally installed game in Lutris.
3. Select Wine for the game runtime.
4. Set the version to proton 8.0 or 9.0. (The most recent versions of proton did not work for me.)

This one works perfectly for me on Linux using Steam and proton 8.0!

So, no updates for this? I want to try the server. Also, is there a Discord link?

Was able to get it to work on Linux, just have a really bad stutter I can't seem to resolve. An appimage type launcher for Linux will be amazing eventually please. In the meantime, anyone have a link to a vanillatweaks, exe that is compatible?
