SlamFrames 3.3.1
Custom Unit, Focus, Pet, Party & Raid Frames for OctoWoW

SlamFrames is a custom unit-frame addon built specifically for OctoWoW and the Vanilla 1.12-style client environment.

It provides custom Player, Target, Target-of-Target, Focus, Pet, Party and Raid Frames, along with click casting, predictive healing, custom Cast Bars, Light and Dark themes, 1080p / 4K artwork, and extensive configuration options.

Version 3.3 introduced a major expansion of SlamFrames, including a custom Focus Frame, expanded Pet Frame functionality, Rogue/Druid combo-point tracking, and numerous improvements to artwork, customization, and overall usability.

Version 3.3.1 builds on that release with improved optional-library compatibility and a fix for repeated HealComm-related chat errors.

The performance improvements and Party/Raid systems introduced in previous releases remain fully supported.

LATEST UPDATE: 3.3.1 – HEALCOMM COMPATIBILITY HOTFIX

Version 3.3.1 addresses an issue reported by the OctoWoW community where players without HealComm-1.0 installed could receive repeated error messages.

The error appeared as:

Code: Select all

Cannot find a library instance of HealComm-1.0
HealComm is optional. You do not need HealComm installed to use SlamFrames.

The update includes:

- Safe detection of optional HealComm libraries
- Prevention of repeated missing-library chat errors
- Improved compatibility with AceLibrary
- Additional safeguards for optional library integrations
- Support for recognizing compatible libraries loaded after initialization
- Updated installation and troubleshooting documentation

SlamFrames continues to function normally when HealComm is unavailable.

Incoming-heal prediction based on compatible HealComm data remains supported when the library is installed.

More information is available in the Predictive Healing section below.

WHAT'S NEW IN 3.3

Version 3.3 introduced several major features and refinements.

Highlights:

- Custom Focus Frame with dedicated artwork
- Expanded Pet Frame functionality and visual feedback
- Custom Rogue and Druid combo-point trackers
- Independent Player and Target combo-point displays
- Custom Target combo-point artwork
- Improved Light and Dark combo-point designs
- Normal, Rare/Elite and Boss combo-point artwork
- Additional frame customization and layout improvements
- Refined Focus health-bar rendering
- Improved cast-bar interaction text
- Cleaner click-casting defaults for new characters
- Further refinements to the settings interface
- Additional Vanilla-client compatibility improvements

The goal of 3.3 was to expand functionality while maintaining SlamFrames' existing visual identity, usability, and performance.

CUSTOM FOCUS FRAME

SlamFrames includes a dedicated custom Focus Frame.

The Focus Frame provides a separate unit display with artwork designed to match the rest of SlamFrames.

Features include:

- Custom Focus Frame artwork
- Light and Dark themes
- Adjustable scale
- Adjustable width and height
- Configurable health text
- Movable frame positioning
- Dedicated health-bar rendering
- Dark empty-health backing
- Integration with SlamFrames settings

The Focus Frame uses custom artwork rather than relying on the default Blizzard unit-frame appearance.

Both visual themes include matching health-bar functionality, with the bar filling and depleting correctly as the unit's health changes.

PET FRAME IMPROVEMENTS

Version 3.3 expanded the Pet Frame system.

The Pet Frame integrates with the SlamFrames visual style and includes dedicated customization options.

Features include:

- Custom Pet Frame presentation
- Health and resource information
- Independent Pet settings
- Light and Dark theme support
- Pet status indicators
- Additional visual feedback for Hunter pet management
- Customizable frame positioning and scaling

These additions make pet information easier to read without overwhelming the main Player and Target frames.

ROGUE & DRUID COMBO POINT TRACKING

SlamFrames includes a custom combo-point system for Rogues and Druids.

The system provides two independently controlled displays.

PLAYER COMBO TRACKER

A custom five-socket combo-point tracker designed to integrate with the Player Frame.

Features include:

- Custom artwork
- Light and Dark designs
- Normal, Rare/Elite and Boss-inspired visual styles
- Five individually illuminated combo points
- Adjustable scale
- Horizontal and vertical offsets
- Optional hiding outside Cat Form for Druids
- Automatic updates as combo points change

The Player tracker follows the configured Player Frame layout.

TARGET COMBO TRACKER

A separate five-point tracker positioned around the Target portrait.

Features include:

- Custom circular combo-point artwork
- Light and Dark designs
- Independent scale adjustment
- Optional ON/OFF setting
- Integration with the custom Target portrait
- Automatic updates as combo points are gained or spent

The Target combo system replaces the original floating Blizzard combo-point display, keeping the tracker attached to the custom SlamFrames frame.

LIGHT & DARK COMBO ARTWORK

Both themes use dedicated visual materials.

The Dark theme emphasizes graphite, dark metal and restrained warm accents.

The Light theme uses warmer metals and gemstone-inspired details.

The designs remain visually distinct while maintaining consistent sizing and placement behavior.

Combo-point previews are also available through Test Frames when playing an eligible class.

Image

PLAYER, TARGET & TARGET-OF-TARGET

The original SlamFrames unit frames remain at the heart of the addon.

SlamFrames provides custom frames for:

- Player
- Target
- Target-of-Target

Each frame can be moved and scaled independently.

Additional controls include:

- Frame width
- Portrait zoom
- Health and resource text
- Percentage or numerical displays
- Name positioning
- Buffs and debuffs
- Aura timers
- Frame scale
- Light and Dark themes
- Special portrait artwork
- Combat and status indicators

The frames retain the ornate Warcraft-inspired design while allowing considerable freedom over their appearance and placement.

PARTY FRAMES

SlamFrames includes custom Party Frames designed to match the appearance of the main unit frames.

Party Frames include:

- Custom SlamFrames artwork
- Adjustable scale and width
- Portrait controls
- Health information
- Mana / Rage / Energy / Focus resource bars
- Optional resource-bar display
- Heal prediction
- Click casting
- Light and Dark themes
- Test Mode
- Performance-optimized individual unit updates

Party resource bars automatically adapt to the unit's resource type.

Resource updates are processed independently, avoiding unnecessary full-frame rebuilding when rapidly changing Rage, Energy or Mana values are received.

Party Frames can be configured separately from the Player and Target frames.

RAID FRAMES

SlamFrames includes Raid Frames for:

5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 40 Players

Several layouts are available:

- 8 Groups Across
- 4 + 4
- 2 Groups Across

Raid Frames can be customized with:

- Adjustable scale
- Adjustable frame width
- Member spacing
- Horizontal group spacing
- Group-row spacing
- Raid opacity
- Optional group headers
- Percentage health
- Numerical health
- Hidden health text
- Class-colored names
- Main Tank indicators
- Click casting
- Heal prediction
- Light and Dark themes

Raid Frames are designed to provide useful group information while maintaining acceptable performance in larger raids.

COMPACT RAID FRAMES

For healers and larger raids, SlamFrames includes a dedicated Compact Mode.

Compact Mode removes the large portrait design and focuses on health and important raid information.

This allows a full 40-player raid to occupy considerably less screen space.

Compact Frames retain support for:

- Health information
- Class-colored names
- Heal prediction
- Click casting
- Main Tank indicators
- Light and Dark themes

This mode is especially useful for healing 20 and 40-player content.

CLICK CASTING

Party and Raid Frames support click casting.

Spells and usable items can be assigned to mouse buttons and modifier combinations.

This allows healing and utility abilities to be used directly through SlamFrames without first changing your current target.

Supported modifiers include:

- None
- Shift
- Ctrl
- Alt

Bindings can also be set to:

Normal

which preserves traditional unit-frame behavior.

Normal behavior includes:

- Left-click targeting
- Right-click unit menus
- Trade
- Whisper
- Inspect
- Follow
- Invite
- Party management options

SlamFrames includes a Vanilla-compatible right-click menu fallback for the OctoWoW / SuperWoW environment.

CLEAN DEFAULTS FOR NEW CHARACTERS

New characters begin with clean click-casting settings.

- Left Click: Normal
- Right Click: Normal
- Middle Click: Normal
- No spells assigned
- No items assigned
- No preset modifier bindings

This prevents newly created characters from inheriting unwanted spells or item bindings.

Existing characters retain their separately saved configurations.

A dedicated reset command is available:

Code: Select all

/sf clickreset
This clears the current character's click-casting assignments without resetting the rest of the SlamFrames configuration.

PREDICTIVE HEALING & HEALCOMM

SlamFrames includes incoming-heal prediction directly on supported health bars.

Incoming healing appears as an extension of the unit's current health.

The system supports local prediction for your own healing as well as HealComm-compatible healing information when available.

DO I NEED HEALCOMM?

No. HealComm-1.0 is an optional library and is not required for SlamFrames to function.

Without HealComm, you can continue using:

- Player, Target and Target-of-Target Frames
- Focus Frame
- Pet, Party and Raid Frames
- Click Casting
- Custom Cast Bars
- Rogue and Druid Combo Points
- Light and Dark themes
- Frame configuration and customization
- Supported local healing prediction

HealComm is used to provide additional compatible incoming-healing information from other players.

If you want that functionality, you will need a Vanilla 1.12-compatible addon or library package that provides HealComm-1.0 through AceLibrary.

Simply having an addon with a similar name does not necessarily mean it provides the compatible library.

HEALCOMM ERROR FIX IN 3.3.1

Earlier versions could repeatedly attempt to retrieve HealComm even when it was unavailable.

This could produce chat spam such as:

Code: Select all

Cannot find a library instance of HealComm-1.0
Version 3.3.1 checks whether the library is available before attempting to use it.

Similar safeguards have been added for other optional libraries, including:

- AceEvent-2.0
- RosterLib-2.0
- ItemBonusLib-1.0

Missing optional libraries should no longer generate repeated lookup errors.

CHECKING HEALCOMM STATUS

You can check which healing integrations SlamFrames detects by typing:

Code: Select all

/sf healpredict status
You can also preview incoming-heal prediction with:

Code: Select all

/sf healpredict test 2000
If HealComm is not detected, make sure any addon supplying it is enabled and compatible with your client.

You do not need to install HealComm unless you want the additional supported library-based healing information.

MAIN TANK INDICATORS

Raid members assigned as Main Tanks can receive a separate visual frame treatment.

Main Tank indicators work with:

- Standard Raid Frames
- Compact Raid Frames
- Light Theme
- Dark Theme

Main Tank indicators can also be previewed through Test Mode.

RAID DEBUFF PREVIEW

Raid Test Mode includes simulated debuff indicators so the warning appearance can be configured before entering a raid.

Previewed debuff types include:

- Magic
- Curse
- Poison
- Disease

The size of the Raid Frame debuff glow can also be adjusted from the Raid settings.

RARE, ELITE & BOSS FRAMES

Special targets can automatically receive unique portrait decorations.

Rare / Elite

Violet dragon portrait artwork.

Boss / World Boss

Crimson dragon portrait artwork.

Both styles include dedicated Light and Dark artwork.

The special dragon frame can also optionally be enabled for your own Player Frame.

The combo-point system also includes matching visual styles for these special Player Frame appearances.

Image

CUSTOM CAST BAR

SlamFrames includes custom Cast Bars designed around the behavior of the Vanilla-era client.

Two Cast Bar styles are available:

- Classic (V1)
- Ornate

Features include:

- Cast progression
- Cast timers
- Spell and item icons
- Latency indication
- Spell pushback
- Channel support
- Interrupt detection
- Failure detection
- Bandages
- Hearthstone
- Shoot and Throw
- Cooking and crafting
- Profession actions
- World interactions

The Ornate Cast Bar includes dedicated Light and Dark artwork.

CLEANER CAST TEXT

SlamFrames improves how various client-generated cast names are presented.

Some Vanilla-era actions produce unnecessarily long descriptions involving the player's current target.

For example, instead of:

Code: Select all

Casting Mining on Target...
SlamFrames can simply display:

Code: Select all

Mining
For generic quest and world-object interactions, unnecessary target-dependent descriptions can be replaced with:

Code: Select all

Using
This prevents unrelated target names from appearing in the Cast Bar when interacting with objects or completing quest objectives.

The standard Blizzard red error text can also optionally be hidden while keeping SlamFrames' own interruption and failure feedback.

BUFFS & DEBUFFS

SlamFrames includes configurable Player and Target aura displays.

Features include:

- Adjustable icon size
- Adjustable spacing
- Multiple aura rows
- Numeric duration timers
- Buff and debuff tracking
- SuperWoW / Nampower duration reconciliation

Special handling is included for abilities that refresh an existing aura without removing and reapplying it.

This helps prevent debuff timers from disappearing or becoming inaccurate when the underlying Vanilla client does not generate the expected refresh event.

LIGHT & DARK THEMES

SlamFrames includes two complete visual themes.

LIGHT

A Warcraft-inspired appearance using warmer metals, gold and ivory elements.

DARK

A graphite, black and silver appearance designed for darker UI setups.

Theme support extends across:

- Player Frames
- Target Frames
- Target-of-Target
- Focus Frame
- Pet Frame
- Party Frames
- Raid Frames
- Compact Raid Frames
- Cast Bars
- Combo-point artwork
- Special portrait artwork

The two themes use different artistic materials while preserving consistent frame behavior.

1080p & 4K SUPPORT

SlamFrames was originally developed on a 4K display.

Dedicated 1080p artwork is included for lower-resolution displays.

This uses alternate compatible textures and adjusted geometry rather than simply shrinking the 4K artwork.

Artwork resolution options are available through SlamFrames Display settings.

Changing artwork resolution requires a UI reload.

PER-CHARACTER SETTINGS

SlamFrames settings are stored independently for each character.

For example, a healer can use:

- Large Compact Raid Frames
- Full Raid opacity
- Healing click binds

while a DPS character can use:

- Smaller Raid Frames
- Reduced opacity
- A different Raid layout
- Different click assignments

Each character maintains its own SlamFrames configuration.

New characters begin with clean default click-casting assignments rather than inheriting another character's configured spells.

TEST FRAMES

SlamFrames includes Test Frames so most of the UI can be configured without being in a group or raid.

Raid testing supports:

- 5 Players
- 10 Players
- 15 Players
- 20 Players
- 40 Players
- Standard Raid Frames
- Compact Raid Frames
- Test Debuffs
- Test Main Tanks
- Class-colored names

Additional frame previews make it easier to adjust the interface before entering combat.

The custom combo-point trackers can also be previewed when playing a Rogue or Druid, allowing their sizing and presentation to be configured without first building combo points on an enemy.

PERFORMANCE & STABILITY

SlamFrames retains the Party Frame performance optimizations introduced in previous releases.

These improvements were designed specifically around the limitations of the Vanilla-era client.

- Health changes update only the affected Party member
- Resource updates are isolated to the relevant unit
- Aura updates avoid unnecessary full-frame work
- Repeated roster events are consolidated
- Party initialization work is spread across rendered frames
- Party portraits are constructed incrementally
- Repeated Blizzard Party Frame suppression work has been reduced
- Duplicate initialization events are ignored where possible

Version 3.3 expanded this foundation with improvements to unit-frame presentation, combo-point tracking, Focus health rendering, cast-bar text, and configuration defaults.

Version 3.3.1 adds further safeguards for optional library loading.

COMPATIBILITY

SlamFrames is developed specifically for the OctoWoW environment.

Designed for:

- OctoWoW
- Vanilla 1.12-style clients
- SuperWoW
- Nampower
- Optional HealComm-compatible healing information

SlamFrames is NOT intended for Retail WoW or modern Classic clients.

HealComm is optional and not required for the main addon.

INSTALLATION

1. Download SlamFrames 3.3.1 from GitHub.

2. Close World of Warcraft.

3. If updating from an older version, delete or move your existing:

Code: Select all

World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\SlamFrames
4. Extract the new ZIP.

5. Place the included SlamFrames folder inside:

Code: Select all

World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\
The final path should be:

Code: Select all

World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\SlamFrames\SlamFrames.toc
6. Launch OctoWoW and make sure SlamFrames is enabled.

Do not merge a new SlamFrames release into an older SlamFrames addon folder.

Replacing the folder completely prevents outdated files from interfering with the current version.

Your settings are stored separately in SavedVariables and should remain available.

SlamFrames 3.3.1 is a complete standalone package and does not require an older SlamFrames installation.

HealComm is NOT a mandatory installation dependency.

SETTINGS

Open the SlamFrames settings with:

Code: Select all

/sf settings
The settings interface includes dedicated sections for the various unit-frame systems.

Frame placement, scale, artwork, health text, combo points, click casting, and other supported options can be customized through the interface.

Re: [Addon] SlamFrames 2.0 — Custom Unit Frame Replacement

SlamFrames 2.0 is Here!

SlamFrames 2.0 is now available.

This ended up becoming a much larger update than originally planned. Since the 1.0 release, a lot of work has gone into making SlamFrames more than just a visual replacement for the original unit frames.

2.0 introduces new Rare/Elite/Boss frames, predictive healing, a heavily rebuilt cast system, much better aura tracking, additional customization, and a long list of fixes discovered while testing on OctoWoW.

NEW – RARE / ELITE / BOSS FRAMES

One of the biggest visual additions in 2.0 is automatic special portrait artwork for important targets.

• Rare / Elite – Violet Dragon Frame
• Boss / World Boss – Crimson Dragon Frame
• Dedicated Light versions
• Dedicated Dark versions
• Automatically changes based on the target's classification

These were designed specifically around the existing SlamFrames portrait rather than simply placing another frame on top of it.

The artwork is separated into multiple layers so the character portrait remains properly contained inside the circular frame.

Player versions are available too!

You can optionally use either Dragon frame on your own Player portrait.

The Player artwork is mirrored so that both the Player and Target dragons face inward toward their respective health bars.

NEW – PREDICTIVE HEALING

SlamFrames can now display incoming healing directly on the health bar.

Instead of waiting for a heal to land, you can see how much of the unit's missing health is expected to be restored.

This includes HealComm-compatible incoming healing information where available, along with local healing prediction.

This was a major step toward making SlamFrames practical for healers as well as tanks and DPS.

MAJOR CAST BAR REWORK

A significant amount of 2.0 development went into figuring out how casting actually behaves on the Vanilla-era client.

The result is the new Ornate cast system.

Changes include:

• New Ornate visual design
• More accurate cast progression
• Cast latency display
• Spell and item icons
• Improved channels
• Bandage support
• Profession casts
• World interaction casts
• Pushback detection
• Correct handling of interrupted casts
• Correct handling of failed casts
• Improved STOP event handling
• Better synchronization between the visual bar and the actual cast

A particularly annoying Vanilla behavior was that a normal SPELLCAST_STOP could occur around an interrupt and make it difficult to determine whether a cast actually completed or failed.

2.0 now briefly reconciles those events before deciding what happened, greatly reducing false "INTERRUPTED" results.

Pushback was also rebuilt around the legacy client's actual timing behavior rather than modern WoW assumptions.

IMPROVED AURA / DEBUFF REFRESH TRACKING

Aura tracking received another major improvement.

Some abilities on OctoWoW can refresh the duration of an existing buff/debuff without removing and reapplying the aura.

Previously this could result in SlamFrames showing the icon but allowing its original timer to expire.

2.0 now listens for additional Nampower duration-refresh information and reconciles the timer when an existing aura is refreshed.

This is especially useful for mechanics where another ability refreshes an already-active debuff.

NEW – INDEPENDENT NAME POSITIONING

Different portrait configurations created another problem: one name position doesn't necessarily look good for every type of unit.

So 2.0 now gives you separate horizontal positioning for:

• Player Name
• Friendly Target Name
• Normal Enemy Name
• Rare / Elite / Boss Name

Each can be moved independently from -150 to +150.

This means positioning your Rare/Elite name around the Dragon artwork won't mess up the position of normal enemy names or friendly targets.

LIGHT & DARK THEME IMPROVEMENTS

The special portrait artwork was built specifically for both SlamFrames themes.

The Dark version uses the same graphite / silver / black metal treatment as the rest of the Dark UI rather than simply putting a dark filter over the Light artwork.

The Light version retains the brighter gold / ivory Warcraft-style appearance.

Theme switching for the more complex artwork now uses a reload prompt where necessary to keep texture state reliable on the older client.

OTHER IMPROVEMENTS SINCE 1.0

There have also been many smaller changes and fixes throughout development:

• Improved Target-of-Target behavior
• Better portrait layering
• Improved aura icon positioning
• Better multi-row aura handling
• Adjustable aura spacing
• Numeric aura timer improvements
• Cast icon improvements
• Better channel detection
• Cast latency improvements
• Better world-object interaction text
• Improved level-badge layering
• Player special-frame mirroring
• Special-frame portrait masking
• More reliable frame state restoration
• Additional settings and configuration controls
• Numerous OctoWoW/SuperWoW-specific edge-case fixes

FROM 1.0 → 2.0

1.0 established the foundation of SlamFrames:

Custom Player, Target and Target-of-Target frames, movable/scalable layouts, circular portraits, aura displays, combat/resting indicators, CC notifications, Light/Dark skins, and the original customization system.

2.0 builds on that foundation considerably.

SlamFrames now has systems specifically designed to understand more of what is happening inside the OctoWoW client rather than simply displaying information exposed by the original Vanilla UI.

A lot of this update came from testing strange edge cases, finding where the old client behaved differently than expected, and then building around those limitations rather than assuming modern WoW behavior.

If you're upgrading from SlamFrames 1.0, your existing SlamFramesDB settings should carry over.

Thank you to everyone who has been testing the addon and reporting bugs.

Some of the best improvements in 2.0 came directly from finding bizarre situations in actual gameplay that would have been almost impossible to reproduce through isolated addon testing.

Please keep the bug reports coming!

If something looks wrong, especially with casts, aura refreshes, Rare/Elite/Boss detection, or a specific class mechanic, let me know exactly what happened and I'll investigate it.

Enjoy SlamFrames 2.0!

Re: [Addon] SlamFrames 2.5 – HD Unit Frames, Predictive Healing & Custom Cast Bars

SlamFrames 2.5 Update
What's Changed Since 2.0

SlamFrames 2.5 is now available!

This release is primarily focused on stability, cast-bar accuracy, UI layering, aura timers, and fixes discovered through extended gameplay on OctoWoW.

If you're already using SlamFrames 2.0, here are the important changes:

◆ CAST BAR RELIABILITY

A lot of work since 2.0 has gone into making the cast system behave correctly with the unusual ways the Vanilla client handles spells, channels, professions, and interactions.

Fixed Cast-State Contamination

Certain actions — particularly Bandages — could leave stale timing information behind.

For example:

Throw → Bandage → Throw

could cause the second Throw to display the wrong duration.

Hearthstone and other actions could also inherit incorrect timing until you used /reload.

2.5 now treats every new cast as a clean timing boundary.

Previous channel, profession, special-action, and pushback state can no longer leak into the next cast.

Improved Special-Action Timing

Timing has been improved for:

• Throw
• Shoot
• Bandages
• Hearthstone
• Cooking
• Crafting
• Profession actions
• World interactions

These actions are now handled separately from normal spells when necessary instead of forcing everything through the same legacy cast/pushback system.

Fixed Tradeskill Detection

An old Lua/API quirk could cause some normal casts to be incorrectly identified as profession actions.

This has been corrected in 2.5.

◆ DYNAMIC UI LAYERING

SlamFrames now automatically changes its UI layer depending on what you're doing.

During normal gameplay, SlamFrames remains above world/nameplate frames.

When you open a Blizzard interface panel, SlamFrames automatically moves underneath it.

This prevents situations where:

• Nameplates appear over your unit frames
• SlamFrames appears over Blacksmithing
• SlamFrames appears over Cooking
• SlamFrames appears over Merchant/Trainer windows
• SlamFrames interferes with Quest and other Blizzard panels

When the panel closes, SlamFrames automatically returns to its normal layer.

◆ FIXED ENEMY LEVEL COLORS

Enemy difficulty colors now use the appropriate Vanilla-style XP threshold based on your current character level.

For example:

A level 15 character targeting a level 10 enemy should see that enemy as GREEN, because it can still award experience.

Previously, SlamFrames could incorrectly display that enemy as gray.

This calculation is dynamic and automatically updates as you level.

◆ IMPROVED AURA TIMER LAYERING

An intermittent issue could cause the numeric timers on Target buffs/debuffs to disappear during longer gameplay sessions while the actual aura icons remained visible.

SlamFrames now explicitly keeps the complete aura display synchronized:

Aura Icon
→ Cooldown Layer
→ Numeric Timer

This prevents the timer text from accidentally ending up underneath another part of the frame when SlamFrames adjusts its UI layers.

◆ ORNATE CAST BAR POLISH

The Ornate cast bar has received some additional presentation improvements.

Profession/activity casts now use cleaner flavor text where appropriate.

For example, Mining previously displayed:
Casting Mining on [Target Name]...
It now simply displays:
Mining
Similar activity-style handling is used where appropriate for Cooking, Fishing, crafting, and other profession actions.

◆ EVERYTHING FROM 2.0 REMAINS

2.5 includes all of the major systems introduced with SlamFrames 2.0:

• Rare / Elite violet dragon frames
• Boss / World Boss crimson dragon frames
• Light & Dark special portrait artwork
• Optional Player dragon frame
• Predictive healing
• HealComm-compatible incoming healing
• Ornate cast bar
• Cast latency display
• Legacy spell pushback support
• Improved interrupt/failure handling
• Numeric aura timers
• SuperWoW/Nampower aura reconciliation
• Independent Player name positioning
• Independent Friendly Target name positioning
• Independent Enemy name positioning
• Independent Rare / Elite / Boss name positioning
• ±150 name-position adjustment
• Player / Target / Target-of-Target customization
• Light & Dark themes

◆ UPDATING

If you're currently using SlamFrames 2.0:

1. Download SlamFrames 2.5.
2. Replace your existing SlamFrames addon folder.
3. Launch OctoWoW.

Your existing SlamFramesDB settings should carry over.

As always, backing up your WTF / SavedVariables folder before updating addons is recommended.

Thank you to everyone testing SlamFrames!

A lot of the fixes in 2.5 came directly from actually playing with the addon for extended periods and tracking down the strange edge cases that only appear on the Vanilla-era client.

If you find something weird, please keep reporting it.

SlamFrames 2.5 is available now.

I really like the look of this, but for some reason whenever I try using it, the actual bars hp/mana are invisible and all I see is the potrait and floating numbers where the bars should be. Tried disabling all other addons and downgrading to 2.0 but the issue persists :/

Hey bud, this is a packaging error on my side, I made a fix for it - should work just fine now, just delete the old installation and replace with this.

Re: [Addon] SlamFrames 2.5.1 – HD Unit Frames, Predictive Healing & Custom Cast Bars

WHAT'S CHANGED SINCE SLAMFRAMES 2.5?

SlamFrames 3.0 is a much larger update than the version number may suggest.

2.5 was primarily focused on the Player, Target and Target-of-Target experience, along with improvements to the Cast Bar, aura tracking and general stability.

Since then, SlamFrames has expanded into a much more complete unit-frame system.

Here are the major changes for anyone upgrading from 2.5.

PARTY FRAMES

SlamFrames now includes a complete Party Frame system designed to match the existing Player and Target frames.

Party Frames include:

- Custom SlamFrames artwork
- Adjustable scaling and width
- Portrait controls
- Health information
- Heal prediction
- Click casting
- Light and Dark themes
- Test Mode

RAID FRAMES

The biggest addition since 2.5 is the new Raid Frame system.

SlamFrames now supports:

- 5-player groups
- 10-player raids
- 15-player raids
- 20-player raids
- 40-player raids

Several layout options are available:

- 8 Groups Across
- 4 + 4
- 2 Groups Across

You can independently adjust:

- Raid scale
- Frame width
- Member spacing
- Group spacing
- Row spacing
- Raid opacity
- Health display
- Name positioning
- Class-colored names

COMPACT RAID MODE

3.0 introduces an entirely separate Compact Raid Frame design.

Compact Mode removes the large portrait layout and focuses on health and important raid information.

It was designed primarily for healers and large raids where fitting 20 or 40 players onto the screen is more important than displaying full-size portraits.

Compact Frames still support:

- Heal prediction
- Click casting
- Class-colored names
- Main Tank indicators
- Debuff indicators
- Light and Dark themes

CLICK CASTING

Click casting has been added for Party and Raid Frames.

Spells and usable items can be assigned directly to mouse buttons and modifier combinations.

This allows healers to cast directly through SlamFrames without first changing their current target.

HEAL PREDICTION EXPANDED

The predictive healing system has been expanded for the new Party and Raid Frames.

SlamFrames supports HealComm-compatible incoming healing information where available, with local prediction available for the player's own healing.

Incoming healing is displayed directly on the health bar.

A diagnostic command has also been added:

Code: Select all

/sf healpredict status
The prediction display can also be tested with:

Code: Select all

/sf healpredict test 2000

RAID DEBUFF INDICATORS

Raid Frames can now provide visual warnings for important debuffs.

Supported debuff categories include:

- Magic
- Curse
- Poison
- Disease

The size of the Raid Frame debuff warning can also be adjusted.

MAIN TANK INDICATORS

Raid members assigned as Main Tanks can now receive a separate visual treatment.

Main Tank indicators work with both Standard and Compact Raid Frames and remain visible alongside the Raid debuff system.

RAID FRAME OPACITY

Raid Frame opacity can now be adjusted.

This is particularly useful for DPS players who want the raid visible without having a large opaque block of frames covering the game world.

PER-CHARACTER SETTINGS

SlamFrames settings are now stored independently for each character.

Your healer, tank and DPS characters no longer need to share the exact same SlamFrames setup.

This includes:

- Frame positions
- Scale
- Party layouts
- Raid layouts
- Compact Mode
- Raid opacity
- Click-casting assignments
- Cast Bar settings
- Aura settings
- Skins

Existing settings are migrated when upgrading.

DEDICATED 1080p ARTWORK

SlamFrames was originally designed on a 4K display.

3.0 adds a dedicated 1080p artwork mode.

This does not simply shrink the original artwork. SlamFrames includes a separate set of compatible textures and adjusted geometry intended for lower-resolution displays.

Players can now select:

4K

or

1080

from the Display settings.

Both modes support the Light and Dark themes.

EXPANDED TEST MODE

Test Mode has been significantly expanded since 2.5.

You can now preview Raid Frames for:

- 5 Players
- 10 Players
- 15 Players
- 20 Players
- 40 Players

You can also test:

- Standard Raid Frames
- Compact Raid Frames
- Debuff indicators
- Main Tank indicators
- Class-colored names

This allows most of a raid layout to be configured without actually joining a raid.

CAST BAR & ERROR DISPLAY IMPROVEMENTS

The Cast Bar system has continued to receive fixes and improvements since 2.5.

There is also now an option to hide the standard red Blizzard error text when using SlamFrames' own cast failure and interruption feedback.

Players who prefer the original Blizzard messages can leave them enabled.

SETTINGS UI IMPROVEMENTS

The SlamFrames configuration window has grown considerably to support the new systems.

The settings have been reorganized into dedicated sections for:

- General
- Layout
- Party
- Raid
- Click Cast
- Effects
- Cast Bar

The visual presentation of the settings has also been cleaned up for greater consistency.

LIGHT & DARK THEME EXPANSION

The existing Light and Dark themes have been expanded to cover the new SlamFrames systems.

This now includes:

- Party Frames
- Raid Frames
- Compact Raid Frames
- Special portrait artwork
- Cast Bar elements

Both themes are also supported by the new 1080p and 4K artwork modes.

IN SHORT

SlamFrames 2.5 established the core Player, Target, Target-of-Target, aura and Cast Bar systems.

SlamFrames 3.0 builds on that foundation with:

Party Frames
Raid Frames
Compact Raid Frames
Click Casting
Expanded Heal Prediction
Raid Debuff Indicators
Main Tank Indicators
Per-Character Settings
1080p / 4K Artwork
Expanded Test Mode
Additional UI and Cast Bar Improvements

If you were already using SlamFrames 2.5, 3.0 should feel familiar - there is simply much more of SlamFrames available now.

UPGRADING FROM 2.5

For the cleanest upgrade, completely replace your old SlamFrames addon folder rather than copying 3.0 over the existing files.

Delete or move:

Code: Select all

Interface\AddOns\SlamFrames
Then extract the new SlamFrames folder into your AddOns directory.

Your SavedVariables are stored separately and should remain available after replacing the addon folder.

Re: SlamFrames 3.1 - Custom HD Unit, Party & Raid Frames for OctoWoW

SlamFrames 3.0 → 3.1: What Changed?

SlamFrames 3.1 is more than just the addition of Party resource bars.

Since the original 3.0 release, a number of smaller fixes, compatibility improvements, UI cleanups and performance changes were quietly patched into 3.0.1, 3.0.2 and the builds that eventually became 3.1.

This post summarizes everything that changed between the original SlamFrames 3.0 package and the current 3.1 release.

THE SHORT VERSION

Compared with the original 3.0 release, SlamFrames 3.1 includes:

- Major Party Frame performance improvements
- Much smoother Party joining
- Mana / Rage / Energy / Focus bars on Party Frames
- Optional Party resource-bar toggle
- Fixed Normal left-click behavior
- Fixed right-click unit menus
- Vanilla-compatible right-click fallback
- Correct Player / Party / Raid context menus
- Blank click-casting defaults on fresh installs
- Improved Reset All behavior for click casting
- Fixed Cast Bar settings overlap
- Finalized Ornate Cast Bar artwork
- Correct Light / Dark Ornate Cast Bar mapping
- Removed unwanted internal Ornate Cast Bar divider lines
- Reduced unnecessary frame rebuilds during combat
- Reduced repeated Party roster processing
- Staggered Party portrait construction
- Reduced Party join frame-time spikes

3.0.1 - UNIT FRAME CLICK FIXES

One of the most important fixes after the original 3.0 release involved normal mouse behavior.

Custom click-casting assignments worked, but selecting:

Normal

did not always restore normal Vanilla unit-frame behavior.

This caused problems such as:

- Right-click menus not appearing
- Player menu not opening
- Party member menus not opening
- Raid member menus not opening
- Target menus not opening
- Trade / Whisper / Inspect / Follow options becoming unavailable through the frame
- Leave Party and other group options not appearing properly

VANILLA-COMPATIBLE RIGHT-CLICK MENUS

Modern WoW uses secure frame attributes for much of this behavior.

OctoWoW does not provide those modern APIs in the same way, so SlamFrames needed a separate fallback specifically for the Vanilla-style client.

A Vanilla-compatible unit-menu path was added for:

- Player
- Party
- Raid
- Target
- Target-of-Target

THE SMALL LUA BUG THAT BLOCKED THE FIX

During development, the fallback itself was actually working, but a method call mismatch prevented SlamFrames from passing the correct frame into the menu handler.

Once corrected, normal right-click behavior immediately began working properly.

That fix is included permanently in 3.1.

NORMAL LEFT CLICK

Normal left click now properly targets the clicked unit.

This works alongside custom click casting instead of replacing it.

3.0.1 - CAST BAR SETTINGS CLEANUP

The Cast Bar settings page also had a layout issue in the original 3.0 release.

The Preview States and Ornate Flavor Text sections could overlap.

The settings page was expanded and the affected sections were repositioned so everything displays correctly.

3.0.2 - CLICK CASTING DEFAULTS

The original 3.0 package included a pre-filled ability in one of the click-casting fields.

That was not intended to be part of the default configuration.

Starting with the later 3.0 builds and continuing into 3.1:

- Left Click begins blank
- Right Click begins blank
- Middle Click begins blank
- Shift combinations begin blank
- Ctrl combinations begin blank
- Alt combinations begin blank

Nothing is assigned unless the player chooses to assign it.

RESET ALL WAS ALSO FIXED

Reset All now clears the newer modifier-aware click assignments properly.

This prevents old spell or item assignments from surviving a full settings reset.

3.0.2 - ORNATE CAST BAR FINALIZATION

A considerable amount of quiet work also went into the Ornate Cast Bar after 3.0 shipped.

The final design now uses separate approved artwork for the Light and Dark skins.

LIGHT SKIN

The Light skin uses the approved dark-baseline ornate frame with the warmer metallic treatment.

DARK SKIN

The Dark skin uses the graphite / black / silver version created for darker UI setups.

UNWANTED INTERNAL LINES REMOVED

Two internal visual lines were removed from both themes:

- A horizontal interior guide line
- A vertical divider before the timer chamber

These were artwork artifacts rather than functional elements.

The final 3.1 version keeps the same:

- Frame geometry
- Orange cast fill
- Timer chamber
- Latency display
- Spell icon treatment
- Cast timing
- Pushback handling
- Channel handling
- Failure handling

PARTY FRAME PERFORMANCE - THE BIG 3.1 CHANGE

The largest functional improvement between 3.0 and 3.1 is Party Frame performance.

While testing the original system in real groups, we discovered that SlamFrames was doing far more work than necessary whenever party-related events fired.

THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM

In the original implementation, several different events could trigger updates across all Party Frames.

This included events related to:

- Health
- Mana
- Rage
- Energy
- Auras
- Roster changes
- Portrait changes
- Names
- Levels

During combat, these events can fire extremely quickly.

A burst of them could occur around:

- Mob deaths
- Resource gains
- Resource spending
- Healing
- Aura changes
- Party member state changes

This could cause severe frame-time spikes on the Vanilla-era client.

HEALTH UPDATES ARE NOW ISOLATED

A health event now updates only the affected Party member.

SlamFrames no longer rebuilds all four Party Frames because one player lost health.

AURA UPDATES ARE NOW ISOLATED

Aura changes now update the relevant Party Frame state instead of rebuilding the entire frame.

RESOURCE EVENTS NO LONGER REBUILD PARTY FRAMES

Mana, Rage, Energy and Focus events are now handled separately.

They no longer trigger expensive updates involving:

- Portraits
- Names
- Health text
- Heal prediction
- Full frame reconstruction

RESOURCE UPDATES ARE THROTTLED

Rapidly changing resources such as Rage and Energy are handled through lightweight individual updates.

This prevents a Rogue, Warrior or other resource-heavy class from generating unnecessary Party Frame work every time their resource changes.

PARTY JOIN PERFORMANCE

Another issue discovered after 3.0 was a large hitch when joining a group.

The problem was caused by several Party events firing almost simultaneously while SlamFrames attempted to initialize all Party Frames at once.

ROSTER EVENTS ARE NOW CONSOLIDATED

Repeated Party roster events are grouped together rather than forcing several full refreshes back-to-back.

PARTY INITIALIZATION IS STAGGERED

Instead of trying to initialize every Party Frame in one burst, SlamFrames spreads initialization work across rendered frames.

PORTRAIT CONSTRUCTION IS STAGGERED

SlamFrames' circular Party portraits require multiple texture slices.

Previously, all portrait slices could be created in one large burst.

They are now constructed incrementally.

This dramatically reduces the chance of a noticeable freeze when joining a Party.

DUPLICATE EVENTS DURING INITIALIZATION ARE IGNORED

While the Party is still settling, duplicate health, aura, name and portrait events are avoided where possible.

This prevents SlamFrames from repeatedly restarting work it is already performing.

BLIZZARD PARTY FRAME SUPPRESSION WAS OPTIMIZED

The original code repeatedly re-hidden the Blizzard Party Frames on a timer.

That was unnecessary once the frames were already hidden.

3.1 only reapplies the suppression when needed.

PARTY RESOURCE BARS

3.1 also introduces Party resource bars.

Party Frames can now display:

- Mana
- Rage
- Energy
- Focus

The bar appears directly beneath the Party member's health bar.

RESOURCE COLORS

The bar automatically changes based on the unit's power type.

For example:

- Mana uses the Mana color
- Rage uses the Rage color
- Energy uses the Energy color

RESOURCE BAR SETTING

The feature can be turned on or off from the Party settings.

This allows players who prefer the original health-only Party Frames to keep that layout.

RESOURCE BARS WERE BUILT WITH PERFORMANCE IN MIND

The new resource system does not undo the performance work described above.

Resource changes update only the affected resource bar.

They do not trigger a complete Party Frame rebuild.

PARTY FRAME RESULT IN 3.1

The Party system in 3.1 now behaves much more like an event-driven unit-frame system should:

- Health updates health
- Resources update resources
- Auras update aura state
- Roster changes update the roster
- Portrait changes update portraits

Instead of every event triggering everything.

WHAT DID NOT CHANGE

SlamFrames 3.1 still includes the complete 3.0 feature set.

This includes:

- Player Frame
- Target Frame
- Target-of-Target
- Party Frames
- Raid Frames
- Compact Raid Frames
- 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 40-player Raid support
- Multiple Raid layouts
- Click Casting
- Heal Prediction
- HealComm support
- Main Tank indicators
- Class-colored Raid names
- Raid opacity
- Light and Dark themes
- Classic Cast Bar
- Ornate Cast Bar
- Buff and Debuff displays
- Aura timers
- SuperWoW / Nampower reconciliation
- Rare / Elite / Boss portrait artwork
- Per-character settings
- 1080p artwork
- 4K artwork
- Test Frames

RAID DEBUFF NOTE

Raid Test Mode includes simulated Magic, Curse, Poison and Disease warning states for configuring the visual appearance of Raid debuff indicators.

This should currently be considered a preview / configuration system unless otherwise noted in a future release.

SHOULD I UPDATE FROM 3.0?

Yes, especially if you use:

- Party Frames
- Click Casting
- Right-click unit menus
- The Ornate Cast Bar

The 3.1 release includes every fix from the 3.0.1 and 3.0.2 hotfixes in addition to the newer Party Frame work.

INSTALLATION

When upgrading, I recommend completely replacing the SlamFrames addon folder.

Delete or move:

Code: Select all

World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\SlamFrames
Then install the new SlamFrames 3.1 folder.

Do not merge 3.1 into an older addon folder.

Your SavedVariables are stored separately and should remain available after replacing the addon.

This is very weird that it's not working on the 4k Art but 1080, I checked the Github upload and it should be the same files that I'm using there as well. I have made some additional bug fixes that I'll be posting along with a fix for this (I think). I'm fairly certain one of the DLLs loading or not loading in the VanillaFixes is probably messing with it, but I think my fallback method might be able to work without issue.

I'll probably have it all posted in a update in an hour or so.
